they rippped new new and blonde redhead in this especialy 5.30 at the end damn i like theese versions more drawn out then the quick stop and start versions on the cds
The lack of any conventional knowledge opens the realm of artistic expression. That is part of the New York No Wave experience. Art is brought back to music, chaotic and pure.
fair play to them for having the balls to try and get away with performing such shite. as a piece of conceptial art this might fly but they are not musicians cause none of them can actually play their instruments therefore this is not music.
I can see where a lot of people wouldn't like this--fair enough. BUT, Tim Wright is/was an excellent musician. His talent and proficiency are obvious on this clip, even if the music doesn't especially call for it. Also, most NY No Wave was the antithesis of conceptual art, and this performance was no exception. All in all, it 'flies' just beautifully.
Hurrah! was it in case all you kids DON'T KNOW. The only club other than The Mudd that mattered or ever WILL. Now New York has been DEAD for 15 years. Trust fund kids and greedy millionaires have KILLED the only music scene that EVER mattered.
Absolute horse shit, trendy trustafarian poseurs and not even original.
This whiny bullshit has been done a million times. Also, it's always kids who bring this to the island from somewhere else. A Manhattan, undergrad art student cliche. Tedious & boring.
I don't have a band, maybe I'm not even a musician, besides what does that have to do with anything ? Anyway, everything I said is still true. These guys completely suck !
I'll be sure to let you know when if my next single is released.
I'm sorry, perhaps you shouldn't watch this if you feel so strongly about posting a negative comment. Your direction on critique is from the absolutely wrong direction. This music was an answer to the garbage being shafted through the mass media and Studidoze 54 at the time...when in your finite memory has a song such as Blonde Redhead been done? Please share. I will forever respect you if you can answer this without cussing.
Music by and for the tone deaf. Besides, doesn't some of that 54 era "garbage" holds up pretty well compared to the pop crap of today, Britney, boy bands etc.
Ever heard of Nile Rodgers ? Sly & Robbie ? Debbie Harry ? Grace Jones? I'm not saying it has to be top forty to be good, but a little more knowledge of music theory and practice would have gone a long way here. BTW, I only listened to this tuneless crap once. That's all I could take.
That's why I like it. Because it's so painfully naive to any sort of adherence to conventional music theory... So free and possibly idiotic. It's fun to watch.
Completely astonishing. I always though DNA were one of the best bands of all time and I heard about this show but never saw it. Thanks so much for posting!

this video is so great-- seeing them play creates more questions than it answers about how they put their songs together.
if this is the kind of stuff that "trendy trustafarian poseurs" are doing in someone's world, then I want to live there.
