Patriot Act doesn't apply in Canada. Our Criminal Code does have it is an offence to knowingly utter or convey a threat to cause death or bodily harm to any person with a maximum sentence of 18 months.

@takotheoktopus, correct, so how is Assange been targeted? I do agree however, that this "professor" is professional unbecoming. He did use his position to create a violent act to be commited that may result in death.  May even result in more than one, by lets say, someone defending Assange, by any means neccassary. Free speech under the Crown Corporation of Canada doesn't allow for you to make death threats. There is also provisions in the Criminal Code of Canada for hate speech as well. both hate speech and death threats can land you in jail.
