It's a short film for goodness sakes! The story must be wrapped up succinctly.

- miraculous birth: vast difference in brothers

- ghost child: guiding spirit

- mourning brother: dues of Claude's descent

- Claude meeting Miguel: Facing his own dark side (thus the evil glare)

The characters are ugly. The "moral" is okay, I guess. I agree with DrCarter2001: the miraculous birth isn't neccesary. And the parents weren't around. The screenwriter could've explained like the parents were busy and their abandonship added to Claude's attitude. Overall, ***1/2. (stars)

The story/message is good and the animation is great, but the execution is a bit rough. I don't really buy Claude's corruption (where were the parents in all this?) and his redemption is much too quick. Plus it drags at points -- it feels like it should either be much shorter with more summary, or much longer to build the suspense and demonstrate the changes in Claude's personality. Plus I don't see how Andy's fetal death and "miraculous" birth ties in.

Beautifully rendered animation. Story appeared to be a summarised, truncated version of a classic. To the dunderheads: Miguel is a ghost (as is the dog in the final act) and he is finally at peace. His brother - presumably a bully as a child - feels the weight of guilt lift from his shoulders as his dead brother finally forgives him.

I think the animation from this film was excellent, but the story line was very poorly done. it had too many twists. for example, the exact same dog comes to the new pair of brothers which means the dog would die and the two brothers would be mad at eachother again. just very confusing
