I have spent hours playing and listening to different vibe pedals and this one is the least expensive and best sounding as far as I am concerned. Some out there are $300+ with too many knobs and none sound as good as this and especially not as quickly. For gigging musicians getting to a ton quick is paramount. I think I am getting this!!!. Great vid and thanks!
Should i buy this pedal or the MXR EVH-117?? I like the size and price of this pedal, but the EVH has more options and settings... and its EVH! Please let me know!
I have found that there is a very small band on the internal trip pot that will actuallyi work for you. I set mine to about 1 oclock. If you go too far to the right or too the left you loose the vibe sound completely... very tight area of usability with that trim pot.
Im contemplating buying either this pedal, or the BBE Soulvibe. Could anyone suggest which one I should get, or a whole other choice? Must be under $150 (USD).
@pikeyo - it is set a little light. each guitar sounds different w. the trim pot - strats, les pauls, SG etc: you need to set it yourself for best results.
This one hits the liquid Woodstock tone compared to any other vibes out there I think. I could even rate this one next to the ultravibe. Shame they're so bloody rare in the UK.
The pickle vibe doesn't have near the depth of swirling tones that the white vibe or the black magicboy vibe that Andy reviewed. How much of that is due to the internal trim pot setting? The magicboy is AMAZING (but not sold anymore) the white one is still good and the pickle is average. Am I wrong here? Can PGS set me straight? How do I get my hands on one of the magicboy's?
@peterbilt1101 The Magic Boy (black or white) have the same circuit with depth trimmer as the Pickle. Yes,
like every pedal, they will sound a little different and not have the exact trimmer settings. We recently got a hold of the last batch of Magic Boys ever so, the Pickle Vibe is the only one currently offered. Thanks,
@peterbilt1101 im sorry but i couldnt disagree with you more. i just got a pickle vibe and i freaking love it. seriously that's why the trimmer is in there. toy with it to where you want it....i have my set to about the 2 oclock mark......sounds badass with some breakup or a fuzz
+1 on that! My Pickle Vibe has been a sweet, sweet addition and a Helluva great alternative to all the more expensive uni-Vibe clones out there. i didnt even have to tweak the inner trim pot, b/c it came with a perfect setting..any more and it becomes too bassy and/or indistinct.
my one gripe, gotta step on it about 20 times before powering up my rig...that clears the caps and stops the popping. Other then that one thing, I'm SUPER pleased...thanks to this awesome review!
this pedal is too simply, too much simply. I taste this pedal yesterday, and sound wonderful with my vintage 62 RI and a supersonic, and sounds incredible with a maxon od808
Does anyone know the name of the song starting at about 2:11? A lot of people have been asking about it, but I didn't see an answer in my cursory scan of the comments.
@ProGuitarShopDemos The track definitely has that Hendrix/Trower vibe...haha, seriously, the intro chord sequence is very close to Hendrix's "Pali gap" from Rainbow Bridge
The one thing I don't like about this (that I DO like about my Microvibe) is that you can't externally-adjust the intensity. When I play out with the Microvibe, I adjust and re-adjust the intensity quite a bit.
@gangtwanger - I just bought a Micro Vibe yesterday for that reason; and it was only $5 more, to boot. I played both side-by-side. The Pickle Vibe sounds great and I like the modulation LED, but I gots to have my adjustability.
I've heard people say this is a tweaked-phaser as opposed to a true, lamp/photocells, univibe-type circuit. Still, it's obviously-amp=friendly and sounds great. I mean, I have a Microvibe and I STILL want one of these. It seems to work very-well with higher-gain distortion (which the Microvibe does not), and just generally-seems like it would be very-usable in a gigging capacity. Damn, I want one. Can I have one? No? Awww....
mine arrived courtesy of andertons music uk yesterday. can't believe it's the size of a ten pack of cigarettes. Sounds amazing and you only need to 'pop' the pedal once before using it. Works with any 9v dc. Love it!
Andy, you never cease to amaze me. I dig these one knob pedals, I don't like pedals with complicated knobs and dials, I like to have a basic rig. Tube amp, wah, overdrive an my Les Paul. But these add on's looking promising
That must be the trick (Well, that plus using good equipment and knowing how to use it). The PGS videos all have a depth and clarity to them. More-3-dimensional, lifelike, and I bet the ambient-mic'ing had a lot to do with it. Most online-demos sound exactly the opposite.
go buy a KR musical MegaVibe, its a real vibe, the best of the best and most accurate. :-) I got one and now all other vibe pedals are gone, including the effectrode vibe, which is nice on its own merits, but nothing like a real one. :-)
The LovePedal genius has developed a new circuit to get the Vibe sound and it works beyond belief for such a tiny box. This circuit does NOT have the usual photo-cell old Univibe design. This is something new and that guy is a bloody genius!!
FYI this pedal is cheap, less than $150 as I recall. Order direct from LovePedal. Check out his ODs and the killer Purple Plexi 800.
I have to say I am long time fan of the Univibe/Vibe pedals. I have had several different ones, this little box is a mindblower. One knob such a little tiny box, not sure but it seems it is using a different tech but God it sounds huge!! Lovepedals are bloody amazing! That Purple Plexi is killer.
Just picked up this off Ebay after listening to this demo about....43 times.
I slapped it on the board and did an Open House jam @ an SAE(audio engineering) school....this lil' sweet thing sounded OUTSTANDING through my crap Fender Frontman mic'd w /a SM57...full warble..nice peaks and swoosh...with a wah pedal...just fluid loveliness.. excellent pedal!
I've got a pretty ridiculous pedal collection going these days and not only is this, hands down, the best value in my collection, it's probably my overall favorite. So small, yet so versatile...every setting from min to max sounds fantastic. Definitely my Desert Island modulation pedal.
This thing sounds great - I have the Fulltone big gold box vibe, also the Prescription Vibe (killer), Voodoo Labs Micro vibe(very good for the money and won a shootout many years ago in Gtr Player mag)
this Love Vibe sounds pretty lush to me I would get one for sure plus it's small perfect for a pedal board...
You guys must think it's probably too good to be true, such a lush swirling tones in such a small box. Well I HAVE ONE, and i can assure you it's worth well its 125 bucks. Amazing pedal! Hendrix fans be aware!
Sounds pretty convincing. I've had the dunlop univbe this one sound a tad more interesting although I think this pedal can be tweaked if you need more swish peaks inside. You can get pretty fanatical about univbes I've heard alot of good ones and some so so ones.
this pedal is just fenomenal. A bit picky where you place it on your pedalboard, but it sounds very very good! Sounds best on a slightly overdriven amp. I love it!
omgggggg the lovepedal line has the sexiest cleanest best looking insides out of any pedals ive seen. i bought a kanji and the circut board doesnt fit very well inside its all loose and that kinda sucks
Probably the loop but it really just depends with your amp, every amp is different. Also I don't think amps had fX loops back in the day, since guitar pedals were just being made, so if you're going for a more vintage sound, that's something to possibly consider.
I got mine last week. ITS FUCKIN AMAZING! If your considering it, go for it. Its amazing sound in a tiny box, you'll be blown away. Put the nob at 3 o'clock and hear Hey Baby flow out of your amp!
It has a circuit similar to a phaser, with four stages. However, a univibe is different because instead of phasing, it tries to emulate a rotating speaker like a leslie. It also has the signature low end throb andy mentions in the demo that a phaser does not have.
It is kinda like a phaser, but instead of swirling like a phaser its more of a throbbing chorus type sound. It's really hard to appreciate until you hear this thing loud and running through a big system like the one I play at my church gig. Its so full and that throb can be felt pulsing in your chest. This pedal really is amazing, and I'm glad I bought it.
so I'm really thinking about selling my Micro Vibe to get this pedal, but I'm having a super hard time deciding...I think the Pickle Vibe sounds better in your clips, but I dont know...which one did you prefer?
i can imagine , your existing stuff would probably sound way better if brought to PGS, since they run their gear into kickass amps / can run high volume / and have an awesome player. to compare they should have micro vibe demo.. tis just my 2 cents. don't get me wrong , they don't fake it, they just run higher quality stuff, at least compared to what I have for sure :-)
the instructions I received with the pedal was to plug in and hit the switch two or three times while playing before going to volume with the pedal and that wil discharge the caps and take away the popping sound. I do that before taking my amp out of standby and don't have the pop.

Hahaha! It's the 9V DC cable. The pedal is too small to contain a 9V battery.

its for a 9 volt power supply

so I'm really thinking about selling my Micro Vibe to get this pedal, but I'm having a super hard time deciding...I think the Pickle Vibe sounds better in your clips, but I dont know...which one did you prefer?

i can imagine , your existing stuff would probably sound way better if brought to PGS, since they run their gear into kickass amps / can run high volume / and have an awesome player. to compare they should have micro vibe demo.. tis just my 2 cents. don't get me wrong , they don't fake it, they just run higher quality stuff, at least compared to what I have for sure :-)

Which power supply did you use? On the demo there wasn't a pop when the effect was turned on, how did you prevent it from doing so?

Any 9v standard 9v power supply will work. These pedals have silent true bypass switching.

you DO have to tap the switch about 10-12 times to clear that initial "pop"....nothing huge as long as you remember!

the instructions I received with the pedal was to plug in and hit the switch two or three times while playing before going to volume with the pedal and that wil discharge the caps and take away the popping sound. I do that before taking my amp out of standby and don't have the pop.

hello, what's the difference between this pickle vibe and the lovetone vibe, just the enclosure or does it sound different too?
MarcusFredman 2 years ago 2
Sounds great, and I think 'bout buying one. But what about any hums or noises? Does it cause any volume drop ? Cheers :)

i'm fairly new with modulation pedals so excuse my stupidity...but is this more of a tremolo or a leslie-simulator?

Definitely Leslie/rotating speaker.
