  • The Scottish have such beautiful music, too bad that they dislike their Neighbours, or else I'd live there meself...

  • I play the bagpipes but I'd never play this.

Flowers Of The Forest or Scot's Wha Hae. Yes.

Songs written about Scots fighting in battle by people who weren't trying to impress people Vs a jingoistic anti-English song about a 700 year old battle - written a few years ago?

My nephew was one of the pipers at Lyneham when a few of our soldiers came back in coffins, he was playing 'Flowers Of The Forest'.

I think we should be going forward, not remembering 700 year old stuff.

  • Im from New Zealand, i go to a school called Hamilton Boys' High School, we ahve to sing this song at every assembly, i feel proud sining this song, me and the 400 other kids in my year level.

  • Long live Scotland!Greetings from GREECE

  • Scotland had two armies campaigning outwith its borders. A massive one occupying northern England and a smaller one led by Monroe fighting the native Irish in Ulster in order to protect Scots settlers. Then in that same period you had a predominantly Irish army (with some Highlanders) campaigning in Scotland resulting in a massacre of people in Aberdeen. That is only four obvious cases that spring to mind. There are bound to be less well known ones too.

  • @tracker2241 If you are saying Scotland has never declared war on Ireland and vice-versa then you are right as Ireland as you say had been partly controlled by England since the 12thC. However Scots have fought Irish on many occassions. You have the Irish involvement in the English invasions of Scotland. Then when Edward Bruce and his brother King Robert invaded Ireland they had the support of some Ulster Irish but most of the native Irish seem to have opposed the Scots. Later in the mid-17thC

  • @gaconnochie i said indirectly irish have constantly backed up english but never ad a full irish-scottish battle

  • @tracker2241 the only time this was broken was the when the thing what gaconnocie said

  • @tracker2241 happened

  • @tracker2241 Well as Ireland had been controlled by England since the 12thC and didn't emerge as a seperate independent kingdom in its own right then that couldn't really have happened. Though Scottish armies have fought Irish armies at that. For instance during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms there was a Scottish govt army campaigning in Ireland under General Monro to protect Scottish settlers from the native Irish upsrising. Sure not an Irish govt army - but an Irish army all the same.

  • @gaconnochie but that was for protection i actually mean war for domination or resources

  • @tracker2241 Look if you need it to be that Scot and Irishman have never fought each other then let's just agree that it is so then.

  • @gaconnochie i mean nationally but yh whatever

  • honestly i so pathetic ive listened to this SO MANY TIMES and i still fucking cry argh

  • Macfarlanes are better we nick cattle :P

  • my clan is Wallace and i take pride in my Scottish heritage

  • God bless the Scots

  • Thankyou.

  • beautiful video, thanks

  • the Irish forces campaigning on behalf of the English king, according to Scottish sources, he had them massacred as foreign invaders!

  • the best anthem out there - greetings from Germany:) YNWA!

  • I have done many things in my time, but I always wanted to learn to play the pipes. Never given the option

  • Many years ago I knew an old Scottish lady who would cry every time she heard this. I am not a Scot, but listening to this almost makes me wish I was.

  • SCOTLAND will be free as they were born to be!! Love from IRELAND!!

  • cryin me heart out now atr all the memories......... I ♥ Alba!!!

  • so haunting and im from Ireland and i play the bagpipes!! but one thing i cant understand the Irish and the Scots have similar cultures and people want to destroy that relationship! remember falkirk when Irish and Scotsmen alike stood shoulder to shoulder and bled together against the English bastards...i hold no grudge against the english but hate to see Irish and scottish friendship torn apart! :(

  • @matthewdfk respect and well said!!

  • @matthewdfk "remember falkirk when Irish and Scotsmen alike stood shoulder to shoulder and bled together against the English bastards" I'm not sure what you are referring to in fact. If it is Wallace's Battle of Falkirk then in general (outside of the film Braveheart) the Scots and Irish didn't stand together. There was a large contingent of Welsh in the ranks of Edward's army. I don't know if he had irish fighting for him too. Probably did. As to Wallace when he had previously caught up with

  • i wish to be scottish :/

  • An anthem to sing loud and proud, like proud Edward's army

    England suck's and i'm English!

  • SCOTLAND IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD , PROUD TO BE SCOTTISH , LOVE MY COUNTRY

  • @afcjonny1

Thats the reason I just watched this!! Cannot wait until we are truly FREE from the liars and cheats down in london!!

    Fellow Aberdonian btw ;)

  • @FooFighter19671 Aye ditto mate. Is it any fucking wonder the Tories have a solitary seat in Scotland, they don't take us seriously. Well no more shall we bow to that cunt David Cameron, the SNP victory is a warning shot to the Tory governent, listen to Scotland or its goodbye to the many votes that the last labour government took for granted. WE WILL BE A FREE SCOTLAND AGAIN.
