Lastly, Countdown was amazing, and Slayer have released God Hates, Christ Illusion and World Painted Blood which were all amazing!

Groove metal is Pantera, it's basicaly the transitional phase between thrash and metalcore, its slowed down thrash with alot more D string palm muted riffs and breakdowns. That's Pantera more or less.

And Countdown is about as thrash as the Black Album... A few songs have a bit of thrash comming through (crown of worms, high speed dirt), but so do songs on Black (through the never, holier than thou)...

Get your head out of your ass already, You can say all you want about Metallica 'Selling Out". Because a band changes their style it does not mean they've sold out. "Sold out" basically means they have become Mainstream, which would make Megadeth by definition Sell Outs. If they are exceedingly popular it means the sound is popularized by a large group of people, which would make it mainstream... Megadeth has a legion of fan boys, and are quite over rated.

It's not as much as the lyrics being 'deep' as much as it is the emotional quality of them and the singer.

Just because the tune is a little dissonant does not mean the band is 'shitty' as you stated. Bands do not get popular based purely on there sound, they get popular many times based upon their emotional quality and powerful lyrics. Their songs are something the audience can connect with, therefore they are attracted to it.

A good band isn't all about the sound, and I hate morons who pretty much claim that is all that matters. When it comes to a band, it is often the lyrics that matter the most. Metallica exceeds in one area that many other bands of there genre fail to. Emotion. The emotion of their lyrics, the emotion of the vocalist.

Eve 6, some of their music can be seen as dissonant. But they have very powerful lyrics, Bloc Party is similar to them in this sense.
