  • How do you make the dolls turn around? I have tried this technic before, but could'nt find out of it. They are flat, so how do you do it? Pleas answear

  • @RavenPrincess13 i think the trees helped with the turning since you couldnt see all of her at that moment

  • These are beautiful!

  • awesome. subscribe to my account. watch my short 2d animation film I have..

  • nicccccce

  • How did you get the background green/blue? Thank you!

  • @PinkCarnationProDux - the background was already that color hue because of the light in the lighttable, I made the contrast a bit sharper in my editing software to have the black more dark and that raised the bg color to more green/blue.

  • that was too short, could you make it shorter -_-

  • Really great, thanks

  • How many pictures did you take?

  • I love this!! Good job, hun. How did you get your shadow puppets to be so animated. I know its stop motion but what did you do exactly. I want to learn how to do this because i make shadow puppet plays.

  • I think it's because I animated straight ahead en tried to stay in the flow, like keep the movement and motion like a sort of mathematics in your head. Remebering from where you came and where you were going with the motion and keep the other motion lines of secondary animation also in your mind along side it. Like pausing and then step by step playing the animation in your head. Don't know if that helps, but studying movement is a good way to go, look at frame by frame film or slowmotion.

  • No, I would like to know what kind of software or what did you use to keep the shadow puppets still when you took your photos?

  • I used the program istopmotion on a mac and as the puppets were lying horizontal they just remained still in the position I set them in as long as I didn't touch them. Also the background, and the ttwo puppets where on different glass plates so I could easily change one without risking to touch the other. I also taped the feet down if I remember correctly.

  • @Ealynn Hey, so you didn't movie your puppets period? How did they make the movements in the film? How did little red walk and how did the wolf stand up? Also, did you snap pictures yourself or through the software?

  • @neverforeverkate I did move them when they needed to, but they are lying flat on a light table, they have special joints that, like a doll you can put the arms and legs in any position you want and keep them like that. On the occasion they where standing still I taped them down so I wouldn't accidently shove them from their place. The scenery was moving step by step in front of the camera along a ruler.

  • @neverforeverkate And I snapped the pictures through software, yes.

  • HEY! wheres the rest!? I was really enjoying that!

  • Awesome

  • Beautiful!! The shadow puppets add a darkness to the story (no pun intended?) like the original.

  • I like your wolf. I don't see how he can get Red in his stomach, tho.

  • Hahaha ^_^ true.

  • Very Nicely Done!

  • really liked this. would love to see more

    your new fan,Francine Nazaruddin

  • Thank you, that's a real compliment ^_^ and I will.

  • really nice, was the background lit up? or white paper?

  • The background was lit up, it was actually a light table and you can see the flickering tones of the lamp making slightly different colors. ^_^

  • very cool!

  • The detail is fabulous. Thanks for sharing! Beautiful work.

  • it so nice to see a video like that.. tnx for posting it ^^

  • Very Nice. Yesterday I saw 'the adventures of price Ahmed' (Lotte Reiniger), so I checked out if I could find some silhouettemovies on youtube.

    Greetings from an animation-student (Brussels)

  • I know the movie your teacher mentioned, "Prince Achmed." It really is astonishingly expressive. You animation is quite expressive as well. It is a mediation which desires to be revived!

  • very nice! great music!

  • lovely!

  • Well done! Please finish it! It's a work of art. Have you got any more? (Lovely choice of music as well.)

  • Thanks, but it's been so long ago, that I can't really finish it anymore and also it was only ever meant as a test to try out the medium. I will however in the future make a new and longer silhouette movie in 2009 if things go the way I planned it. So when that's finished, I'll make it known here.

  • I look forward to seeing it, Ealynn. Thanks for sharing what you do.

  • Very nice :)

  • Stunningly magical, I'd love to see more of this. Like an early animated movie.

  • Beautiful! The movements are so expressive. The wolf is amazing. What great performances!

  • Well done.. Keep at it

  • This is amazing. Thank you for sharing it.

    Lovely btw

  • When I get back to my own comp, I'll look the title up for you ^_^ it was something with clara 16 th or something like that.

  • The song is called Clara nr 16 (Erasmus Widmann, 1572 -1634).

  • Thank you very much. Great work, I would love to see more.

  • Where do you find these musics ? :) It's pretty cool ;)

  • Stunning

  • Wow. I think the entire story completed would be amazing, just seeing how brilliant this small piece was. ^-^

  • Thanks for all your compliments. Yes, at the time I animated this I was a first year experimenting with all kinds of techniques. Though I will not complete this particular silhouette animation, there are plans for making a new one ^_^ I'll post it here when it's done. I'm really looking forward to it.

  • Klass: Ani 1? First year? Wow... you've got talent!

  • Beautiful!

  • This is excellent stuff. Atmospheric and well animated.

It's just a shame you were not able to finish it, as I'd have loved to have seen the whole story this way.

    Good stuff. :D

  • great!

  • Pretty! That's a lot of work. I like the music choice as well. Overall, a very charming video.
