I can't help but think of The Karelian Isthmus with that cover. They even have a similar guitar tone and vocals a tad like early Amorphis. This is far more bouncy sounding than anything they did in the early days though.
@xKylluhBx Yeah. But, they are. So, we just listen to their music and like, but try to pretend that we don't understand the lyrics, or else we should have shoot them straight to their fucking nazist heads!
Let me ask you this. It is apparent that they feel "if it ain't whit it ain't right" Even so why do their preference and views bother you so much to the point where you will listen to their music but pretend that they are talking about something else other than exterminating the world of the vermin? Not trying to offend or anything but i agree with their views but i'm asking this as a friendly question. I feel that to truly feel the music you must feel the lyrics no matter what?
@beyondXdead Well, if you agree with their views I am not sure that with can talk friendly, but let's try...
I do not think that music is lyrics. Music is music, notes. Lyrics are poetry (good or bad), not music. And some notes, a music track, can make me feel emotions that are not completely releated with the lyrics. Just think that some songs have no lyrics.
This song, by the way, is not about nazism or "clear" white nations. But that's not the matter.
@beyondXdead Some songs have no lyrics. Others have chinese lyrics. I do not understand the chinese language, but I may love the songs. I also like Burzum songs. How the fuck could I know what Varg says when he sings? I do not know norwegian.
@WolfAxis Well, I don't really care to do this. Poetry is a kind of art and music is another. Music and lyrics (lyrics = poetry) are different.
And, for Christ sake, I do not care if you agree with me. I like Argohslent music and will continue to listen it even if you think that I have to be a fascist asshole to do that.
My girlfriend's mother dated, and was nearly married to, Greg Harris, Arghoslent's original vocalist in the early 90's. So, she likes all the oldschool death metal bands and whatnot and so does my gf. It's awesome :)
OH LOOK, A NAZI BAND ON NOKTU'S DRAKKAR PRODUCTIONS. WHEN HE'S NOT MAKING MONEY OFF BOOTLEGGING LLN MATERIAL HE'S PROMOTING NSBM BANDS ON HIS SHIT RECORD LABEL. WHY DONT YOU SIGN DER STURMER ON YOUR SHIT LABEL TO MAKE IT MORE OBVIOUS YOU FAT HOMO?!
This is the latest full length album from this socially progressive death metal band with rousing themes of tolerance and equality! I heard the proceeds of this album went to Haitian earthquake victims. Arghoslent's solos even use blues inflections, so you can tell how much they respect African-Americans. These Virginian trailblazers understand that nothing is more "brutal" than treating others fairly.
@robinzhooded I'm confused here. They don't like the African ancestors as they believe that these people have never contributed to a proper culture in any significant way and have created problems all over the world.
Arghoslent make badass music. I could give two shits what their lyrics talk about or advocate. I listen to and enjoy the band regularly. This band is racist. They are affiliated with various racist organizations and have close ties to the Hammerskins. The Hammerskins, (also known as Hammerskin Nation) is a white supremacist group formed in 1988 in Dallas, Texas. The Hammerskins are considered the United States' most well-organized racist skinhead group. Many of its members have been convicted of harassing, assaulting and even murdering non-whites
Arghoslent sucks and the band are a bunch of racist scum bags
is it they're racist or they're talking about history? Slayer did a song for Angel of Death and Tom Araya and Dave Lombardo are both Hispanic and the guy who produced it was Jewish. So it might not be that they promote it, but discuss it rather from the point of view shared back in those times. ... I don't know
The content in the band conveys slight racism but - if we were to accumulate the lyrics and we just talked about the band it doesn't necessarily mean they are supporting these racist aspects. The lyrics are represented through a neutral perspective. Therefore, you cannot conclude that they are again a race they don't really make it that obvious like Nokturnal Mortum did on NeChrist. Despite this, I know for a fact that Arghoslent's side project Grand Belial's Key is racist.
Grand Belial's Key is made possible and run by the same man who runs the Arghoslent show - Gelal Necrosodomy/Pogrom/Alex, call him whatever you like; GBK and Arghoslent are both racist, but have different lyrical content. GBK deals more with a mockery of the Abrahamic religions - Christianity/Judaism/Islam Arghoslent is about defaming the blacks,anti-political correctness, history, homophobia, and superiority.
I know that Grand Belial's Key is the USBM side-project. I think that is more evident of slight racism. Although the Judeo-Christianity portrayals are more likely 'dismissing' the belief system rather than engaging in a strong sense of racism. Like if a person is Jewish and they don't believe in Judaism. Then hurting them because of it would be racist. Grand Belial's Key is simply stating the corrupt in Judeo-Christianity and the primary Abrahamic religions.
The negligence in concurring they're "racist" because of stating a sequence of race-oriented events is literally appalling. They band themselves accumulated the implication that racism does not occur in America. Slavery on the other hand they've ceased to make more derogatory inquisitions about. I'd say a tad racist from their strong political influences like Heinrich Himmler and Alexander the Great. But more in the sense of slavery.
@TheSatanikOrder666@TheSatanikOrder666 You're really stating the obvious dude, of course Slayer was referring to history. This is why metal is so ostracized - when people inquire that everything they say is just a complete derogatory sense of evil. Perhaps, they just have a unique approach to things in a different perspective. And even if it is derogatory, in some conceivable way it could express individuality and creativity.
@psycrop Nothing wrong at all, just says that this band doesn't realize that unlike their lyrics, their music transcends race and ethnicity (archaic concepts that don't mean anything, bet you a buck this band has met "Good" negroes and "Good" Jews) and they're making people they don't like (due to their heritage) happy... oh the irony. More power to you, and to their music, but less power to their ideas.
The combination of death and classic metal is very delightful. They aren't breaking any musical boundaries (judging by the lyrical content, it doesn't seem like "evolving" is in the books), but they do what they do very well.
This is the first song they played at C.H.S. last saturday ; their bassist couldn't make it but it the band was still epic as hell. In fact they were better than any band I saw at maryland death fest last weekend..
I wonder sometimes whether people hate this band for its "racism" (couldn't think of a better word) or the fact that they don't want to admit to themselves they're like that. I know a lot of people who would find Arghoslent offensive but talk about opposite ethnicities behind their back, white or nonwhite. Obviously they can't hate it because it's bad music - this is better than the "safe" radio played today in America by far...
You should listen to their first cd "Galloping Through the Battle Ruins", and then progress forward from there. There's a reason why this band has developed a cult following despite their message.
Masterful composers and musician in every facet of the terms
Is anyone seeing arghoslent at Elite Underground Metalfestin Baltimore, Maryland October 18, 2008? I can't go due to the distance...:( Really want to see them live in cleveland. Also would be sweet to see some live vids of them on youtube.
Distance is no object to me for a mighty band like Arghoslent. Hell, this year I traveled to the Czech Republic to see Carcass and Sodom at Brutal Assault Fest.
Amon Amarth? I'm not quite certain what the fascination is behind this group. The minds behind the music are intelligent enough, as evident by the very lucid interviews they have provided, but without the shocking (which all in all is only shocking to the largely egalitarian common perspective) aspect of their ideology they would sound perfect on tour with Ensiferum and Mors Principium Est.
I don't see many similarities at all. Arghoslent's totalitarian/fascist outlook differs greatly from Amon Amarth's viking/self-empowerment lyrics.
Arghoslent were born 2 decades ago with a distinct traditional/epic heavy metal sound and influences like Manilla Road. Amon Amarth started as a raw/gritty melodic death metal band and has since shifted to more of a melodic/power metal band.
Amon Amarth has a large fanbase and plays multinational tours. Arghoslent is mired in the underground.
If you've heard their first album "Galloping Through the Battle Ruins" you'd know just how different Arghoslent are to Amon Amarth.
Where Arghoslent utilizes a wide variety of chord/scale progressions, tempo-variances and staccato riffage along with tasteful tonal dissonance to convey their musical message.
Amon Amarth relies heavily on minimalist tremolo picking structures, power chords, and rudimentary chord progressions with atonal harmonies.
"The Grenadier" is not exactly a prototypical Arghoslent song, and though it is well done, it does not reflect the overall stylistic outpourings of the band.
Like I said, as with all bands, sampling their early material is the best way to formulate an opinion on their music... "Galloping Through the Battle Ruins" is that material.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Amon Amarth too, despite the noticeable style/talent gap between bands.
You must be joking, Arghoslent have been consistently excellent since they formed in the early 90's, developing their own style. Notice how absolutely nobody in death metal sounds like Arghoslent, rather than the re-hashed garbage that many 'top' DM artists utilize.
You seem like the kind of tasteless retard who would take Black Album-era Metallica over bands like Sodom or Tankard simply because they generate more publicity.
Also, you make yourself look like you learned English last week.
Also, you like abominations like Meshuggah and Spawn of Possession (probably Corpsegrinder-era Cannibal Corpse too, lol). You're taste in music is sub-sealevel shitty.
Bryssling of Spawn of Possession could shit out a turd better than this music.. i say its good, but srsly learn2deathmetal i haven't heard much of this band but sounds like they don't deviate from the minor key which automatically make it unsurpassable in DM GG
That's the point, nimrod. They were the first and to this point only band to successfully crossbreed 80's heavy metal, and old school death metal/melodic death metal. Their albums are very centric around minors because that's the signature of vintage heavy metal bands.
When you listen to this band, you're not supposed to be listening for some shitcock dropped major key band of faggots like Vehemence or Spawn of Possession.
Arghoslent in a completely different (far better) league.
You typify the problem with metal kiddies and their limited exposure to extreme metal.
Kids will latch on to a few quasi-underground, usually shitty death/black/whatever band and every band henceforth will be compared objectively to whatever garbage they polluted their minds with before.
Those that aren't retarded, realize that music doesn't work this way and the more aggressive of us would push for instant death upon those who practice this retarded system of judging bands.
the only thing that can be close to objectively observed is technique. These guys don't hold a candle technique wise to many top DM acts.. ie Spawn of Possession make these guys look like a band playing at the battle of the bands in junior high school
Two completely different styles, two completely different techniques. You're trying to compare apples and oranges objectively. Again... ignorance.
Music is only a matter of opinion to those uninformed about broad expanses of the various genres, to the informed, it is very much a provable or disprovable argument.
'Musical enjoyment' is what you mean to say is a matter of opinion.
Anyway, it seems we've reached an impasse. Continue believing Spawn of Possession is superior and I'll pity you.
lol 2 different techniques? seems to me guitar playing to guitar playing is apples to apples and drumming to drumming is oranges to oranges. As for your assumption on my musical tastes, you can't compare how enjoyable one song or band is too another. Tupac to Bach, beauty is in the 'ear' of the beholder. But now, when we talk technique on guitar/drums these guys again look like 3 year olds who just picked up their instruments compared to bands like Spawn of Possession & Defeated Sanity
Alright just so we're clear, Defeated Sanity is technical brutal death metal... Arghoslent is a cross of death and heavy metal. How the hell can you tell me that they don't play with two different techniques without looking like a moron, which admittedly, you do.
Arghoslent doesn't rely on drop D break tempo chugs or retarded blast beat after blast beat like Defeated Sanity because that's not the kind of band they are, they play a completely different style of death metal, brainiac.
You must have just 'learnd2dm' last year, because obviously, you're under the impression that death metal is a singular genre and that there aren't different sub-genres. This, also makes you look like an idiot, not to mention a gigantic poseur.
Not all of the sub-genres rely on heavy technicality like technical/brutal death metal, some rely more on overall composition and cohesive musicianship. You wouldn't play straight brutal death blast beats in bands like Pestilence, Death, or Arghoslent.
So, even if your retarded theory about objective technicality judging is accurate, how would you measure this on the different styles of death metal.
Because unlike the moronic impression you seem to have gathered, just because a band CAN play super=technical, doesn't mean that they WILL play super-technical. Technicality is a very fleeting, fickle thing, good in places, but completely retarded when overused.
Just look at Dragonsuck, super fucking technical and fast, horribly shitty music.
lol dragonforce sucks i dont like that music. Defeated Sanity is not dropped D btw u just retarded look at one of their tabs b/c your ear obviously cant pick out whats going on. You said this was unsurpassed in the DM genre. Technical DM, Brutal DM, progressive DM is still DM
Technical bands are better at their instruments than Arghoslent but being the most technical or the fastest doesnt make it better. Those bands need to stfu and write a decent riff instead of boring me with over technical bullshit, and blasting throughout the entire song. Bands like Brain Drill may be good at their instruments but they suck dick at making death metal, same with Necrophaggot people only like them because their cRaZy over-technical. Appealing to people who just got into death metal
brain drill is awful i agree but super technicality is not new in DM look at Suffocation been doing it since early 90s but they remain brutal and true to the DM spirit other bands like brain drill and anamolous are just guys wanking the guitar showing people how fast hey can play they have forgot that DM is all about the brutality everything else is second
Whatsoingon takes it up the ass while doing the HItler salute. Heil Hitler! Now stick it in real deep Noktu!!!!!

This is the first song they played at C.H.S. last saturday ; their bassist couldn't make it but it the band was still epic as hell. In fact they were better than any band I saw at maryland death fest last weekend..

Agreed, their performance was definitly great. But I thought they actually sounded better when I saw them last fall in Baltimore.

I don't know why they need to stay ambiguous. Most modern rap videos are racist against white people. It's just music.

Oh wow, that little guitar riff or whatever at 1:50 - 1:54 is amazing!

Also would be sweet to see some live vids of them on youtube.
neckface0 3 years ago
I'll be driving out to see them from Minnesota.
Distance is no object to me for a mighty band like Arghoslent. Hell, this year I traveled to the Czech Republic to see Carcass and Sodom at Brutal Assault Fest.

Shoot some fucking video or I will murder you.

I'll see what I can do, though they've stayed ambiguous for this long for a reason. I doubt that will change anytime soon.

As was I. I sent the venue management quite a lengthy and biting note.
I also sent Arghoslent an email of support.

O yeah and although I like spawn of possession, Arghoslent is better since they have their own sound/style.

Amon Amarth? I'm not quite certain what the fascination is behind this group. The minds behind the music are intelligent enough, as evident by the very lucid interviews they have provided, but without the shocking (which all in all is only shocking to the largely egalitarian common perspective) aspect of their ideology they would sound perfect on tour with Ensiferum and Mors Principium Est.
neuraxianfusion 3 years ago
What are you talking about? This video has nothing to do with Amon Amarth... surely you mean Arghoslent?
Cinerary 3 years ago
I was poking fun at the uncanny similarities between the two bands.
neuraxianfusion 3 years ago
I don't see many similarities at all. Arghoslent's totalitarian/fascist outlook differs greatly from Amon Amarth's viking/self-empowerment lyrics.
Arghoslent were born 2 decades ago with a distinct traditional/epic heavy metal sound and influences like Manilla Road. Amon Amarth started as a raw/gritty melodic death metal band and has since shifted to more of a melodic/power metal band.
Amon Amarth has a large fanbase and plays multinational tours. Arghoslent is mired in the underground.
Cinerary 3 years ago
All aesthetic differences at best. The song structure and phrasing is very similar.
neuraxianfusion 3 years ago
Not really at all.
Cinerary 3 years ago
What I am hearing here sounds awfully similar to the material I have heard from Amon Amarth.
neuraxianfusion 3 years ago
"The Grenadier" is not exactly a prototypical Arghoslent song, and though it is well done, it does not reflect the overall stylistic outpourings of the band.
Like I said, as with all bands, sampling their early material is the best way to formulate an opinion on their music... "Galloping Through the Battle Ruins" is that material.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Amon Amarth too, despite the noticeable style/talent gap between bands.

dis is good but top DM acts make these guys look like they learned to play instruments and write music last week
angus420 3 years ago
You must be joking, Arghoslent have been consistently excellent since they formed in the early 90's, developing their own style. Notice how absolutely nobody in death metal sounds like Arghoslent, rather than the re-hashed garbage that many 'top' DM artists utilize.
You seem like the kind of tasteless retard who would take Black Album-era Metallica over bands like Sodom or Tankard simply because they generate more publicity.
Also, you make yourself look like you learned English last week.
Cinerary 3 years ago
Also, you like abominations like Meshuggah and Spawn of Possession (probably Corpsegrinder-era Cannibal Corpse too, lol). You're taste in music is sub-sealevel shitty.

1.31/10 troll job
Bryssling of Spawn of Possession could shit out a turd better than this music.. i say its good, but srsly learn2deathmetal i haven't heard much of this band but sounds like they don't deviate from the minor key which automatically make it unsurpassable in DM GG
angus420 3 years ago
That's the point, nimrod. They were the first and to this point only band to successfully crossbreed 80's heavy metal, and old school death metal/melodic death metal. Their albums are very centric around minors because that's the signature of vintage heavy metal bands.
When you listen to this band, you're not supposed to be listening for some shitcock dropped major key band of faggots like Vehemence or Spawn of Possession.
Arghoslent in a completely different (far better) league.
Cinerary 3 years ago
You typify the problem with metal kiddies and their limited exposure to extreme metal.
Kids will latch on to a few quasi-underground, usually shitty death/black/whatever band and every band henceforth will be compared objectively to whatever garbage they polluted their minds with before.
Those that aren't retarded, realize that music doesn't work this way and the more aggressive of us would push for instant death upon those who practice this retarded system of judging bands.
Cinerary 3 years ago
lol u the one who said no DM album was 'better' than this one in the last 8 years Mr. Objective
u lose
angus420 3 years ago
There's a difference in being objective with knowledge (ME) and being objective in ignorance (YOU).
You lose, good sir.
Cinerary 3 years ago
lol music is a matter of opinion.
the only thing that can be close to objectively observed is technique. These guys don't hold a candle technique wise to many top DM acts.. ie Spawn of Possession make these guys look like a band playing at the battle of the bands in junior high school
angus420 3 years ago
Two completely different styles, two completely different techniques. You're trying to compare apples and oranges objectively. Again... ignorance.
Music is only a matter of opinion to those uninformed about broad expanses of the various genres, to the informed, it is very much a provable or disprovable argument.
'Musical enjoyment' is what you mean to say is a matter of opinion.
Anyway, it seems we've reached an impasse. Continue believing Spawn of Possession is superior and I'll pity you.
Cinerary 3 years ago
lol 2 different techniques? seems to me guitar playing to guitar playing is apples to apples and drumming to drumming is oranges to oranges. As for your assumption on my musical tastes, you can't compare how enjoyable one song or band is too another. Tupac to Bach, beauty is in the 'ear' of the beholder. But now, when we talk technique on guitar/drums these guys again look like 3 year olds who just picked up their instruments compared to bands like Spawn of Possession & Defeated Sanity
angus420 3 years ago
Anyone who thinks the more technical the better is a poser tbh.
Adriankat 3 years ago 4
lol i say technicality is only thing that may be objectively measured u cannot troll me u the one getting troll'd lol
angus420 3 years ago
Alright just so we're clear, Defeated Sanity is technical brutal death metal... Arghoslent is a cross of death and heavy metal. How the hell can you tell me that they don't play with two different techniques without looking like a moron, which admittedly, you do.
Arghoslent doesn't rely on drop D break tempo chugs or retarded blast beat after blast beat like Defeated Sanity because that's not the kind of band they are, they play a completely different style of death metal, brainiac.
Cinerary 3 years ago
You must have just 'learnd2dm' last year, because obviously, you're under the impression that death metal is a singular genre and that there aren't different sub-genres. This, also makes you look like an idiot, not to mention a gigantic poseur.
Not all of the sub-genres rely on heavy technicality like technical/brutal death metal, some rely more on overall composition and cohesive musicianship. You wouldn't play straight brutal death blast beats in bands like Pestilence, Death, or Arghoslent.
Cinerary 3 years ago
So, even if your retarded theory about objective technicality judging is accurate, how would you measure this on the different styles of death metal.
Because unlike the moronic impression you seem to have gathered, just because a band CAN play super=technical, doesn't mean that they WILL play super-technical. Technicality is a very fleeting, fickle thing, good in places, but completely retarded when overused.
Just look at Dragonsuck, super fucking technical and fast, horribly shitty music.
Cinerary 3 years ago
lol dragonforce sucks i dont like that music. Defeated Sanity is not dropped D btw u just retarded look at one of their tabs b/c your ear obviously cant pick out whats going on. You said this was unsurpassed in the DM genre. Technical DM, Brutal DM, progressive DM is still DM
angus420 3 years ago
Technical bands are better at their instruments than Arghoslent but being the most technical or the fastest doesnt make it better. Those bands need to stfu and write a decent riff instead of boring me with over technical bullshit, and blasting throughout the entire song. Bands like Brain Drill may be good at their instruments but they suck dick at making death metal, same with Necrophaggot people only like them because their cRaZy over-technical. Appealing to people who just got into death metal
ProvokedAccurser 3 years ago
brain drill is awful i agree but super technicality is not new in DM look at Suffocation been doing it since early 90s but they remain brutal and true to the DM spirit other bands like brain drill and anamolous are just guys wanking the guitar showing people how fast hey can play they have forgot that DM is all about the brutality everything else is second
