What a small world we live in. Just so happens, this weekend, i spoke with a friend of a friend, who's been a cop on the Londonderry force for a few years. We talked about the incident and here's what he had to say about the cop we all know who started this mess.

Yes corran that is a valid point. I have worked in restaurants all my life and have been many situations when serving alcohol to some of my guests was in question and would get the decision from my manager (to save my own ass). I am sure the law for NH is similar to MA and probably the other 48 states which Margaritas made their own judgment on. I may not agree with this decision since I never made it in the bar, but I never saw the specific event so I cant speak truthfully here.

ok stumpy, an establishment is legally obliged to determine if a person is too intoxicated and must decide whether or not to serve alcohol to said person. do you wish to argue that? it does differ by state as far as punishment and enforcement. but in NH it is pretty clear. $5000.00 fine for the establishment, loss of employment for the offendor and an additional fine I am not sure of.

This law is for the establishment who has the liqueur license, AKA Margaritas, who served the intoxicated people. Oh wait the intoxicated people in this video never caused any injuries! Oh wait the cops did cause injuries to them! I am sure there are pictures of some pretty nasty bruises on the people who got arrested! This is a law to protect the restaurant and people from any accidents that happen after being served booze.

Some of these cops need to attend some time of anger management workshop since this situation could have been MUCH WORSE if this was a "real situation" and not some people who just wanted to know why their family is being arrested? Matter of fact I thought I heard one officer mentioning that they had to make sure that "no one had any weapons them". Yes officer, clearly the woman in their dresses have a weapon on them.
The cops obviously showed poor crowd control and the only way they could control it is by physically tossing around people, dragging people down stairs, shoving them into corners, threatning with tasers, GRABBING THEIR NECKS, and verbally abusing everyone. There is a difference between force and excessive force.
Clearly this video comes down to showing how the police try to control a crowd that had gathered as a result of the first woman being arrested. When someone is being arrested and cops are all around, when is there not a crowd intrigued and interested to see what happened? Now imagine if that is your parents, children, or friends which spark even more interest!
2. No one has actually charged for any ALCOHOL related offenses, specifically for being drunk in public/drunk and disorderly. Hmmmmm uh oh Corran looks like that nullifies any logic you have. If the Salem Police really wanted to enforce those laws they would have arrested and officially booked them for that. I would check the police log or maybe see a police report...
Plus who does not go to the bar to get drunk? If that was the case, many bars/restaurants would not be in business! They would be shut down for breaking the law for over serving or would not get any business because that is half the reason why people go out for drinks in the first place, to get drunk! In your logic Corran, this would mean that Margaritas had actually broken the law since they over served in the first place and had to take away their drinks after serving them.
1. Its actually not illegal to over serve alcohol at a restaurant/bar. It is the results that happen from over serving patrons at a bar that can lead to some negative consequences. For example if you over serve someone and they drive drunk and kill someone, that bar and restaurant employee has some explaining to do and can face some serious legal issues. The fact that the bar knew that our family was staying at the adjacent Holiday Inn a week before should validate that argument.

I personally am not a huge fan on salem pd (they're total asshats) but the use of "massacre" in the title is not only misleading but an unintelligent choice. Its good to have gotten this on footage but its much wiser to choose a title befitting of the incident itself otherwise people will see it and just think you have no concept of american english language and word definition.

This is what it amounts to; Family arrived after a wedding most didn't make it through the door to Margaritas because they needed to wait in the hallway. The cop was getting agitated & rude. No one was drunk, some had a few drinks in them but not drunk. The cop decided to attack the women on the bench because he didn't like her attitude (no reason to arrest someone) She was not family, but the rest of the people arrested were.

Now the family is in dis-believe to what their seeing. Outside on the steps is my niece & nephew, they were attached & arrested just for standing their asking why this was happening.

the we walk down the stairs and you see us tyurn the corner I am wearing a tan sweater my boyfriend was wearing a black hoodie, as we turn the cirner you see a cop pass us from behind and start running after us this is about 4 and 1/2 min into the video. The cops ran up behind us grabbed my boyfriends arm to the point where he has has bruising on it, was screaming and swearing at us to the point where his face was red and he was spitting.
I was there and was trying to leave and still got verbally abused and my boyfriend was physically abused by the police. As the video man is talking to the girl about Umass you can hear a cop yelling at us for no reason, we were walking out the door. First he tried saying my boyfriend elbowed him, then he said that he was staring him down, he ends the conversation with telling us to piss off you can hear him.

Yes corran that is a valid point. I have worked in restaurants all my life and have been many situations when serving alcohol to some of my guests was in question and would get the decision from my manager (to save my own ass). I am sure the law for NH is similar to MA and probably the other 48 states which Margaritas made their own judgment on. I may not agree with this decision since I never made it in the bar, but I never saw the specific event so I cant speak truthfully here.

ok stumpy, an establishment is legally obliged to determine if a person is too intoxicated and must decide whether or not to serve alcohol to said person. do you wish to argue that? it does differ by state as far as punishment and enforcement. but in NH it is pretty clear. $5000.00 fine for the establishment, loss of employment for the offendor and an additional fine I am not sure of.

This law is for the establishment who has the liqueur license, AKA Margaritas, who served the intoxicated people. Oh wait the intoxicated people in this video never caused any injuries! Oh wait the cops did cause injuries to them! I am sure there are pictures of some pretty nasty bruises on the people who got arrested! This is a law to protect the restaurant and people from any accidents that happen after being served booze.

1. Its actually not illegal to over serve alcohol at a restaurant/bar. It is the results that happen from over serving patrons at a bar that can lead to some negative consequences. For example if you over serve someone and they drive drunk and kill someone, that bar and restaurant employee has some explaining to do and can face some serious legal issues. The fact that the bar knew that our family was staying at the adjacent Holiday Inn a week before should validate that argument.

I personally am not a huge fan on salem pd (they're total asshats) but the use of "massacre" in the title is not only misleading but an unintelligent choice. Its good to have gotten this on footage but its much wiser to choose a title befitting of the incident itself otherwise people will see it and just think you have no concept of american english language and word definition.

This is what it amounts to; Family arrived after a wedding most didn't make it through the door to Margaritas because they needed to wait in the hallway. The cop was getting agitated & rude. No one was drunk, some had a few drinks in them but not drunk. The cop decided to attack the women on the bench because he didn't like her attitude (no reason to arrest someone) She was not family, but the rest of the people arrested were.

Now the family is in dis-believe to what their seeing. Outside on the steps is my niece & nephew, they were attached & arrested just for standing their asking why this was happening.

the we walk down the stairs and you see us tyurn the corner I am wearing a tan sweater my boyfriend was wearing a black hoodie, as we turn the cirner you see a cop pass us from behind and start running after us this is about 4 and 1/2 min into the video. The cops ran up behind us grabbed my boyfriends arm to the point where he has has bruising on it, was screaming and swearing at us to the point where his face was red and he was spitting.

I was there and was trying to leave and still got verbally abused and my boyfriend was physically abused by the police. As the video man is talking to the girl about Umass you can hear a cop yelling at us for no reason, we were walking out the door. First he tried saying my boyfriend elbowed him, then he said that he was staring him down, he ends the conversation with telling us to piss off you can hear him.

the bottom line to this whole video is that this was not right and uncalled for. the cops never asked anyone nicely to put their hands behind there backs, no ones rights were read to them except one person that was arrested, and the language that was used toward the people in this video was abusive.
