The point is not to criticise individual Americans - that's stupid - it's to take up the points made in this brilliant programme (by Americans!) and do something about it in every area we can. In England we've had a wonderful programme called The Thick of It (look it up) and the same applies here. It was also an American, Bob Dylan, who gave millions eyes to see and hearts to feel.
Lets face it. the majority of Americans are in fact Stupid.after all we do rank what 26th in education? we dont produce anything anymore. all our decent jobs are outsourced & everything is made in china. If anyone tries to exercise freedom by attacking others, he will either subjugate others, or most probably find himself subjugated.
I'm not American, and I do not agree with many aspects of what they are doing in the world.

Look at yourselves before you admonish anyone else... at least the US is free enough to have a show on TV like this which creates a debate.
It's not the "people's" fault. That's what you are supposed to believe, that freedom and democracy are ideas that Americans don't deserve. This country has been systematically destroyed from within, starting with the very souls of its people. Most poeple just believe what the offshore banking cartel's TV and News programs tell them that it's "our" fault. Through the CFR and groups like it, every major orgainization in this county has been infiltrated at some level in order to bring it down.
I am viewer number 111,111. And this is one of the best videos on youtube in my free opinion. It is one of the best speeches I've ever heard. And it is one of the most important ones to exist in this day and age. That is just a fact.

I certainly hope that we are "unworthy of democracy." Over time, every democracy had devolved into bloody totalitarian states, some faster than others. A perfect example would be the democracy set up directly after the French Revolution. Pick up a book on the founding of America. The government is a Consitutional Republic. Yeah, so where was The Tea Party during all this? They raised bloody hell after Bush left office, but not while he was in office and all this came to light.
@mastermold2009 because the Tea-Party was designed under the cloak of promoting freedom and democracy, when it was actually aimed at furthering the GOP agenda. Even though some Tea-Party republicans have been elected to Congress, Sarah Palin has really self-destructed herself as a politician, so we shouldn't have to worry about her running for president, since it would really just be a waste of time and money for her.

So the few, who hold the power of the many, wield it freely like 5 year olds knowing we are too stupid and afraid to do ANYTHING to them, as history has shown.
@taosimplicity The US is certainly not morally perfect, then again, I wonder if any country can be so in the eyes of the world. Hypocrisy and moral turpitude seem to be more inherent to human nature than they are connected to countries or continents. I just hope you can do the same without any fears.
@taosimplicity Wow. An awesome video of some of Alan Shore's best speeches, and a George Carlin reference! I love it. Huge fan of both. Also, Bill Hicks and Lenny Bruce. I posted some issue-related closings from Boston Legal a while back, but youtube removed them and threatened to ban me. I'm glad this video is here. Great job!
@taosimplicity Who are you to say who's "worthy"? And worthy relative to whom? The Iranians? The Belarussians? The North Koreans and the Chinese? Everybody's worthy of Democracy. But there is no true democracy on this planet. Not yet anyway. It'd be easy to judge the way you do. I'd like that option. World would be a simpler place. But people are much more complex than the labels you'd give them. Americans are just like everyone else. I'm not even American by birth btw.
@zsezse215 the worse part, is that even that's not true anymore. The US's food is terrible, uneadible for many people in fact, and US entertainment has become mostly stale, often simply annoying.
There's no Santa, no Easter bunny and the world is a violent scary place . The rights of the many out weight the rights of the few. ....... now go back and listen to, Imagine.
Damn it! Bush had the record for dismantling our protections under the constitution. Then Obama had to go and show everyone he could do it better. Health care means he took our life, gov. control on auto & banking pretty much destroyed pursuit of happiness. Liberty is next. The more you depend on gov. the more control the gov. has of your life.
Torture? So called "terrorist suspects"? They're not prisoners of war as defined by the Convention of Geneva or the Hague Convention of Land Warfare. By rights, the US could shoot them on the spot.
It was one of the not so well researched episodes.
And let's see, what has your overglorified clown in the WH done to better this so far? Nothing. He ordered NASA to reach out to the muselmaniacs. WOW!
The western countries will burn and they deserve it.
One of the most powerful fictional speeches ever made. Right up there with "V for Vendetta" and "Network." Deadly accurate and should be required viewing for every American. Not that it would make any difference though. Americans are mostly lazy and won't take action until their OWN lives are affected. Which will be too late. The powers that be know this, which is why they don't fear dissent and the occasional TV/movie speech.
Boston legal was the best ever. I am surprised they got half of what they recorded on the air. Unfortunately with our boxed society of shit today the networks went for a bigger buck on some cheesy "whatever the fuck idol here" "whatever the fuck reality show there" in its place.
Boston legal was the real deal. No show compares to it. I watch other shows but merely for entertainment. I watched boston legal because it made me proud for one fleeting moment of the american broadcast airwaves.
People are afraid because people are so satisfied with their lives. If there one day is a dictatorship ruling the world, I dnt know about other countries, but Americans will do shit about it.
i saw 2 episodes of boston legal season 5 and i must admit, David E. Kelley is a great writer...he is maximizing his medium to send his message uot there..i really admire him for his way of putting things and his braveness in making his stand on issues that most of us are even afraid to talk about...Alan shore is the best person to speak in his message
It's amazing how blind the american people are. We are standing by while government strips our powers away, and we live in a time where successful revolution may not even be possible. With the military capabilities of the government, we really have to hold onto our freedoms while we still have them, less they fall to oppression. "History repeats itself because nobody was listening the first time." some of the truest words ever spoken
laaaaaaaaame. Ya america sucks, can you please leave now?
You'd think the hippies would be happy with the Obamapacolypse we have to deal with now. :/ Not to mention, if your boy Clinton did his job instead of the interns, we wouldn't have had such a mess to deal with in the first place.
@Gerstein1 Today so many people are so ignorant in america. People don't have enough information to speak out because nobody reports it! The news is so self centered on pathetic american issues that nobody sees the freedoms going or what is happening in the world.
Americans have become self-centered. Perhaps it's all the prozac in the water. Maybe all the pharmaceuticals they are taking. Maybe, instead of facing truth, it's easier for them to put their heads in the sand.
Bush, Obama.....they all work for the same owners. This administration has done NOTHING to give us back our freedoms that Bush stole. Why is that?
Because the hood ornament has changed, but the same speeding car is running over us all.
Find Alan Shore argues before the Supreme Court and you'll know why Boston Legal was silenced. Boston Legal informed us, and we stood by (thinking it was just good entertainment) and continue to do so. But, sooner or later, people get tired, tired of being tired, defeated, and scared. Its called an Uprising!
Fantastic show! Too bad it was killed by FOX because of being critical to the government and the banking system. The network tried to kill the rating by moving the show 3 TIMES!!! in different days of the week thus confusing the potential viewers and finally, at the high time of Boston Legals popularity, FOX simply called David E. Kelley and told him there won't be a next season, although it was known that most of its audiences earned more than 100,000$ a year (the ideal audiences for marketing)
Dont you think Boston Legal was much more successful than The Practice? Yet, this show was canceled while The Practice wasn't. And THIS? An episode tackling the BANKING SYSTEM and it's close links with the GOV ? Of course the show was canceled .
This was one of the best shows to come out of the US. A brilliant mix of the amusement of Denny...and the cutting political commentary of both the Alan Shore and Shirley Schmidt characters.
How many of you feel that THIS KIND OF SPEACH WAS THE REASON THAT BOSTON LEGAL WAS CANCELED ??!?! David E. Kelly stated that he was simply called by the studio and he was told that there wouldn't be a 5th season although the commercial success was perfect for this series as the audiences were EXACTLY what the advertising companies wanted : working people earning over 100,000$ a year. Mr. Davis had to fight to get the 13 episodes of the 5th season.
it is strange, but i dont see what the problem was, it showed both points of view from both ends of the political spectrum. Although you could say most of the time it leaned towards the left.
So, your arguement is that if we eliminate guns then there would be no murders? Oh way, there's also knives, strangulations(also known as Death by Asphixiation) Arsenists, motor vehicle homocides. The problem isn't that guns exist. It's the people behind the guns. The gun doesn't kill a person. It's the person who pulled the trigger. I would also like to point out that many of these deaths by guns are done by people who were merely defending themselves in the first place.
Sigur Ros only added to the literary genius of David Kelley's script-writing.

@zsezse215 It is eerie how history repeats itself. I have always equated our society with that of ancient Rome.
gintherlover 10 months ago
@zsezse215 the worse part, is that even that's not true anymore. The US's food is terrible, uneadible for many people in fact, and US entertainment has become mostly stale, often simply annoying.

You'd think the hippies would be happy with the Obamapacolypse we have to deal with now. :/ Not to mention, if your boy Clinton did his job instead of the interns, we wouldn't have had such a mess to deal with in the first place.

And saying "isn't that awful" and switching the channel isn't enough to speak out (please tell me you get the reference!)
Gerstein1 1 year ago 2
@Gerstein1 Today so many people are so ignorant in america. People don't have enough information to speak out because nobody reports it! The news is so self centered on pathetic american issues that nobody sees the freedoms going or what is happening in the world.
jakeprogrammer 1 year ago 2
Americans have become self-centered. Perhaps it's all the prozac in the water. Maybe all the pharmaceuticals they are taking. Maybe, instead of facing truth, it's easier for them to put their heads in the sand.
Bush, Obama.....they all work for the same owners. This administration has done NOTHING to give us back our freedoms that Bush stole. Why is that?
Because the hood ornament has changed, but the same speeding car is running over us all.
Welcome to the NWO. Global Government.

Find Alan Shore argues before the Supreme Court and you'll know why Boston Legal was silenced. Boston Legal informed us, and we stood by (thinking it was just good entertainment) and continue to do so. But, sooner or later, people get tired, tired of being tired, defeated, and scared.
FuckBasescu 1 year ago
Dont you think Boston Legal was much more successful than The Practice? Yet, this show was canceled while The Practice wasn't. And THIS? An episode tackling the BANKING SYSTEM and it's close links with the GOV ? Of course the show was canceled .
FuckBasescu 2 years ago
This was one of the best shows to come out of the US. A brilliant mix of the amusement of Denny...and the cutting political commentary of both the Alan Shore and Shirley Schmidt characters.
I hate that they pulled this show....
chayaus 2 years ago 2
yeah it was cancelled but the most disgusting thing is that most of these crap is true!
SHiiABA 2 years ago 2
How many of you feel that THIS KIND OF SPEACH WAS THE REASON THAT BOSTON LEGAL WAS CANCELED ??!?! David E. Kelly stated that he was simply called by the studio and he was told that there wouldn't be a 5th season although the commercial success was perfect for this series as the audiences were EXACTLY what the advertising companies wanted : working people earning over 100,000$ a year. Mr. Davis had to fight to get the 13 episodes of the 5th season.
FuckBasescu 2 years ago 2
it is strange, but i dont see what the problem was, it showed both points of view from both ends of the political spectrum. Although you could say most of the time it leaned towards the left.

@LicentiousSlut It has nothing to do with citizens. Read it again. All it does is that it limited what government can and cannot do.
beidabaozi 2 years ago
@beidabaozi What government can and cannot do to citizens. The 14th Amendment is part of the Constitution.
ToxicOdiousOne 2 years ago
@LicentiousSlut except the constitution protects people in general, not just citizens.
When you start arguing that the rights only apply to citizens, you instantly create second class of people.
beidabaozi 2 years ago
1. Check out the US Constitution:
Art III sects 2 & 3, the 5th, 6th and 7th amendments and the 14th amendment, paragraph 1.
2. Check out the Third Geneva Convention (1929) and the 1949 Conventions, common articles 1-3
3. Refer also to the Nuremberg Principles
4.Refer to St.Thomas Aquinas principles on a just war (jus ad bellum)
All these references are justifcations in American law, international law and moral philosophy in granting terror suspects a trial, any arguments?
DAngelo136 2 years ago 2
ya theres a reason why canadians don't have guns.. no crime oh wait.. no crime ..no guns..hmm ..look at the diffrent percent of crime and deaths
freakyflow 2 years ago
So, your arguement is that if we eliminate guns then there would be no murders? Oh way, there's also knives, strangulations(also known as Death by Asphixiation) Arsenists, motor vehicle homocides. The problem isn't that guns exist. It's the people behind the guns. The gun doesn't kill a person. It's the person who pulled the trigger. I would also like to point out that many of these deaths by guns are done by people who were merely defending themselves in the first place.
