  • Sigur Ros only added to the literary genius of David Kelley's script-writing.

  • damn! I'm not an american and I'm touched T.T

  • The point is not to criticise individual Americans - that's stupid - it's to take up the points made in this brilliant programme (by Americans!) and do something about it in every area we can. In England we've had a wonderful programme called The Thick of It (look it up) and the same applies here. It was also an American, Bob Dylan, who gave millions eyes to see and hearts to feel.

  • Alan shore pumps my chubby

  • Why would they allow this to air on national tv?? The elite rulers that is.

  • Boston Legal is the most moral culturally relavent show ever and Alan shore is a great great man its a real shame he isn't real

  • Lets face it. the majority of Americans are in fact Stupid.after all we do rank what 26th in education? we dont produce anything anymore. all our decent jobs are outsourced & everything is made in china. As long as americans have a little money in their pocket, the A/C works, there is food in the fridge, and the reality tv shows are on they have no interest in being vigilant as to what government does with america. all anyone says when it comes to politics is the word freedom. u think u free ha

  • France should take the statue of Liberty back, The U.S doesn't deserve it anymore.

  • which episode and which season is this one????

  • @ZeDBeE85 Season 2 ep 19 Stick It

  • Americans and the spirit of Freedom will always prevail.

Freedom can only be sustained if it is not exercised with oppression on anyone. If Americans and free people accross the world exercise their freedoms without attacking anyone (richer or poorer), they will remain free and become even more free.

If anyone tries to exercise freedom by attacking others, he will either subjugate others, or most probably find himself subjugated.

    Sustained Freedom = Productive Non-violence.

  • I'm not American, and I do not agree with many aspects of what they are doing in the world.

BUT!! I do not see any other people in other nations around the world protesting as we did in the '60's and '70's. Have we all become sensitised to it all?

Look at yourselves before you admonish anyone else... at least the US is free enough to have a show on TV like this which creates a debate.

    CS. New Zealand.

  • Bet you wish you hadn't won the war of american independence. Rule Britannia, Britannia rule the waves

  • It's not the "people's" fault. That's what you are supposed to believe, that freedom and democracy are ideas that Americans don't deserve. This country has been systematically destroyed from within, starting with the very souls of its people. Most poeple just believe what the offshore banking cartel's TV and News programs tell them that it's "our" fault. Through the CFR and groups like it, every major orgainization in this county has been infiltrated at some level in order to bring it down.

  • I am viewer number 111,111. And this is one of the best videos on youtube in my free opinion. It is one of the best speeches I've ever heard. And it is one of the most important ones to exist in this day and age. That is just a fact.

  • Bread and circuses. What more could we ask for

  • The fact that Ron Paul isn't the President shows how imperfect the political system of the US is.

  • 2:36 lol @ Charlie Sheen

  • "It's far easier to fight for principles than to live up to them"

  • John Lithgow

  • mhlevy: There was never a democracy after the French revolution you dummass, it was a parlementary monarchy and then a republic. And please, democracy leads to totalitarian? They're the exact opposite of each other, you couldn't be more out of it! People like you really need to learn a bit more before they speak. However it is true that no countries are perfect...

  • Emm... Sigur Rós? Er pao?

  • @taosimplicity

I certainly hope that we are "unworthy of democracy." Over time, every democracy had devolved into bloody totalitarian states, some faster than others. A perfect example would be the democracy set up directly after the French Revolution. Pick up a book on the founding of America. The government is a Consitutional Republic. The Founders HATED democracy, because they knew that it's nothing more than "mob rule." Unfortunately, it's devolved into a near democracy/oligarchy.

  • lovely

  • and yesterday American people cheered over the execution of a man calling this "justice" ... a joke

  • "If you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror."

  • Ron Paul is an american

  • the government have been doing this to african americans since the bigining

  • Bradley Manning is an American.

  • This in the United States of America! I hope everybody who saw this got the message...

  • Bush was/is the symbol and but of many jokes, but those who dare to make one of Obama are put on watch list's and labeled as racist, he has gone to our enemies in terrorist countries and bowed to their leaders, apologizing for our country, yet this is accepted behavior. Go to an airport and try to board a plane as a US citizen, arabs bypass screening protected by anti-racial profiling groups, we are losing our country!

  • Many Americans will demonstrate if someone will take away their guns and or increase taxes. But they are willing to give up their freedom of speech??

  • @EuromanMovieReport always, because they have FOX, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC to speak for them.

  • @RainbowManification

will you join me on a no-lib,no-conservative, crusade for american moderates? :D libs tell conservatives to "wake up" and check the facts, and vice versa, when in fact, we all have put our own agendas

  • THIS IS SOME SCAREY SHIT!!!

  • zsez you must be out of you mind if you think for one second that

the quality of products at bread and circus won't improve during the second

    term of Obama's administration.

  • I miss Alan Shore...I hope to see him again on Harry's Law. David Kelley challenges this experiment called America.

  • Imagine if there had been a President Alan Shore.

  • James Spader should run for political office as his character from Boston Legal.....

  • However when you look at history, we are a nation of hypocrisy, a nation founded on ideals of freedom of democracy from the very beginning we have been a nation of greed, corruption, extortion, blackmail, murder, torture, and the restriction of constitution freedoms.

  • This may of been the most important video I've ever watched on YouTube

  • @RainbowManification wrote "This may of been the most important video I've ever watched on YouTube".

Another cool video is the "Philosophy of Liberty". It's an animated piece that makes some very worthy points. I don't know who created it, and there are many channels that mirror it. It's worth a few minutes of your time, if you haven't already seen it.

You're right though. The writing and acting of this character, coupled with this topic, is sooo powerful.

    And "IMPORTANT".

  • @rmcdaniel423 Thank you, very insightful, and very true.

  • I have been looking for original video four a while now they have taken it off because it is more affective can someone try to find it please

  • I totally I agree with Alan here. But at another point in the series Alan goes on to say that he loves being an American and wouldn't want to live anywhere else, which I also agree with.

  • Julian Assange is the Alan Shore in reality. we have to stick up and protect our info freedom. Go watch Julian's speech on Oslo Freedom Forum, Enlightening!

  • @alphazengcheng

    oh really

  • @rheechashaipu You got it, no more to say.

  • Yeah, so where was The Tea Party during all this? They raised bloody hell after Bush left office, but not while he was in office and all this came to light.

  • @mastermold2009 because the Tea-Party was designed under the cloak of promoting freedom and democracy, when it was actually aimed at furthering the GOP agenda. Even though some Tea-Party republicans have been elected to Congress, Sarah Palin has really self-destructed herself as a politician, so we shouldn't have to worry about her running for president, since it would really just be a waste of time and money for her.

  • very good. One of the most enjoyable videos on youtube. Thanks.

  • Wow. An AMAZING video that I wished more people had watched before electing Bush (I agree the 1st term was stolen)....

  • Appreciate this segment of BL. Spot on. Nothing good about the Bush 43 regime. So too, actually even worse is the fraudulent, lying, hate-filled regime of the naked Marxist that is Obama et al.......................

  • and now Obama is messing up Asia, the true terrorists are those elites behind US government. those SOBs will eventually get the world destroyed.

  • @CingD Yeah, he went public against 9/11 and that's why I'm sure they tried ruining his image with his whole situation.

  • Next time leave the original video alone, it is much more effective.

  • 2:42 is that charlie sheen on one picture?

  • I want to know how many of these Bush administration abuses have been undone by the Obama administration.

  • @lurkingheretic Hardly any, in fact, as far as I am aware, they've been enhanced in some cases. Which to me speaks volumes about the so called "difference" between Democrats and Republicans. Fact of the matter is, there is no difference they are one in the same. Neither are to be trusted as they are solely looking out for their own self interests, and by that, I mean corporate interests.

  • Which episode is this?? I love it :)

  • @nouryassin Stick it season 2 episode 19

  • Personally I have great respect for America as an institution based on a morally just revolution who where not afraid to spill their blood in the name of freedom. Being a foreigner who lives in a dysfunctional society it makes me feel somewhat jealous of a society that was formed on the principals of freedom and righteousness but it is sad that they couldn't keep it They had let greedy people to close to power, power that can overcome freedom and even questions to oppression henceforth the speech

  • Why the fuck did this show get canceled? fuck retard american's watch something that matters. jesus christ you all are retards.

  • Go Muhammad Ali!

  • I wonder if it's a question of faith? Americans are used to believe, that they are the good guys and now, even when it's obviously wrong what they're doing they find a reason to justifiy it. I guess it's hard to see that your faith was just an illusion, made up to keep one calm.

  • wasnt there another video where in the description it had the full speech????

  • I love this series... is f(/&%ing great¡

  • Americans are unworthy of democracy. Like George Carlin said, " maybe it's not the politicians who are assholes, maybe, just maybe it's the PEOPLE who are the assholes. Blame it on Americans for being too self aborbed and brainwashed to be worthy of such a celestial article known as DEMOCRACY.

  • @taosimplicity - us of a is a REPUBLIC, not a democracy... Just an fyi.

  • @taosimplicity You sir need to grow up. You obviously haven't met many Americans.

  • @Paintballguru92 Or simply met too many of the wrong kind.

  • @taosimplicity So, that's interesting. "Unworthy", are they? "They" - is there a more stupid word to use on a whole nation!? "They" are so brainwashed that they can create a series like "Boston Legal", make it a success, and allow the whole world to laugh with them and about them. If you had a brain you would realize that it's you who's the asshole.

  • @taosimplicity People? PSSH. More like sheeple.

  • @taosimplicity I'm an American, and I disagree! I am worthy of democracy! Why so many thumbs up for this comment. Sad...

  • @taosimplicity We are a REPUBLIC, look it up, we have never been a democracy!

  • @Maples01 We are a republic. Yes. But we are now acting as a democracy. Which is what the power elite want. People need to learn what the difference is, and many other things, and get active. Government run public schools NEVER teach anything meaningful about rights, government, and law. But it is our responsibility to learn. We must stop assuming things will be handed to us.

  • Those who will give up freedom for security deserve neither. John Adams

When asked by a citizen, "what have you given us," Benjamin Franklin replied "A Republic mam." When did America become a democracy, as that is not what the founders of this country wanted, as those in the past have failed, as they became an oligarchy! The government has stepped on our freedoms all throughout history, no one seems to study it anymore to learn, the war between the states is an example!

  • @Maples01 well, said.

But it was Ben Franklin who wrote:

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

  • @taosimplicity Please don't use "democracy" again until you know what it really means. IT IS THE PEOPLE who are the assholes. Our system is genius from all points of view, including that of tyrants. Why? Because the people, as stated in our constitutions, are ultimately responsible for our government and all of the evil it does. So the few, who hold the power of the many, wield it freely like 5 year olds knowing we are too stupid and afraid to do ANYTHING to them, as history has shown.

  • @taosimplicity The US is certainly not morally perfect, then again, I wonder if any country can be so in the eyes of the world. Hypocrisy and moral turpitude seem to be more inherent to human nature than they are connected to countries or continents. However some do have the priviledge to speak about it, denounce it or expose it all in court or in the media without fear of retribution like this show produced and aired by Americans.

I just hope you can do the same without any fears.

  • @MrNewCi

True, but I have noticed that people seem to mistake the freedom to talk about something with the freedom to actually do something about it.

  • @taosimplicity Wow. An awesome video of some of Alan Shore's best speeches, and a George Carlin reference! I love it. Huge fan of both. Also, Bill Hicks and Lenny Bruce. I posted some issue-related closings from Boston Legal a while back, but youtube removed them and threatened to ban me. I'm glad this video is here. Great job!

  • @taosimplicity Who are you to say who's "worthy"? And worthy relative to whom? The Iranians? The Belarussians? The North Koreans and the Chinese? Everybody's worthy of Democracy. But there is no true democracy on this planet. Not yet anyway. It'd be easy to judge the way you do. I'd like that option. World would be a simpler place. But people are much more complex than the labels you'd give them. Americans are just like everyone else. I'm not even American by birth btw.

  • @taosimplicity oh and the Germans and Austrians and French and Greek and British are? Don't think so, pal..

  • Americans are OK with it because we got the best "bread & circuses" money can buy.

  • @zsezse215 Well put.

  • @zsezse215 It is eerie how history repeats itself. I have always equated our society with that of ancient Rome.

  • @zsezse215 the worse part, is that even that's not true anymore. The US's food is terrible, uneadible for many people in fact, and US entertainment has become mostly stale, often simply annoying.

  • what episode, what season??

  • ........please, childish

There's no Santa, no Easter bunny and the world is a violent scary place . The rights of the many out weight the rights of the few. ....... now go back and listen to, Imagine.

  • @DarthBlam

Well, it's safer for your mental help, but it's not going to help you, when you're going to be rendited and tortured.

  • @StG45m

    i'm sorry, health*

  • HOW COULD YOU DISLIKE THIS VID?

  • Damn it! Bush had the record for dismantling our protections under the constitution. Then Obama had to go and show everyone he could do it better. Health care means he took our life, gov. control on auto & banking pretty much destroyed pursuit of happiness. Liberty is next. The more you depend on gov. the more control the gov. has of your life.

  • this is here til they pull it off again...so here it is for now.

  • Americans! Welcome to 1984.

  • This is so, so f* good. ALAN SHORE IS THE BEST EVER. *.*

  • Torture? So called "terrorist suspects"? They're not prisoners of war as defined by the Convention of Geneva or the Hague Convention of Land Warfare. By rights, the US could shoot them on the spot.

It was one of the not so well researched episodes.

And let's see, what has your overglorified clown in the WH done to better this so far? Nothing. He ordered NASA to reach out to the muselmaniacs. WOW!

The western countries will burn and they deserve it.

  • Alan Shore is so talented

  • One of the most powerful fictional speeches ever made. Right up there with "V for Vendetta" and "Network." Deadly accurate and should be required viewing for every American. Not that it would make any difference though. Americans are mostly lazy and won't take action until their OWN lives are affected. Which will be too late. The powers that be know this, which is why they don't fear dissent and the occasional TV/movie speech.

  • Could someone explain the word 'hack' for me please? Thank you.

  • What's the music??!!

    Beautiful video.

  • This vid has been up for 2 years now and if the government is wired into the net I'm surprised it hasn't been taken down yet.

  • @samuraiofsamuraiedo

It's not to late, don't worry.

  • @StG45m

    What?

  • who the hell disliked this?

  • @Stewiehleba

People who are brainwashed by the government into thinking that the war in Iraq was for freedom and not for oil.

  • I think it is not just only the USA.. but how the entire world nowadays do not care anymore...

People just stop carying... which could be a dangerous development.

  • Non American says Thumbs up, I like.

  • Boston legal was the best ever. I am surprised they got half of what they recorded on the air. Unfortunately with our boxed society of shit today the networks went for a bigger buck on some cheesy "whatever the fuck idol here" "whatever the fuck reality show there" in its place.

Boston legal was the real deal. No show compares to it. I watch other shows but merely for entertainment. I watched boston legal because it made me proud for one fleeting moment of the american broadcast airwaves.

  • @lordtalon69 people seems to be more interested in watching a bunch of overdramatic doctors and their 'suspenseful' sex lives. (grey's anatomy)

  • People are afraid because people are so satisfied with their lives. If there one day is a dictatorship ruling the world, I dnt know about other countries, but Americans will do shit about it.

  • alan shore is such an inspiration...........

  • when alan shore starts speaking, i'm all ears.

  • And I'm sure Obama has reversed all this, I'm sure Obama has saved freedom... hasn't he?

  • @GibbedHGR We need to update this!

  • i saw 2 episodes of boston legal season 5 and i must admit, David E. Kelley is a great writer...he is maximizing his medium to send his message uot there..i really admire him for his way of putting things and his braveness in making his stand on issues that most of us are even afraid to talk about...Alan shore is the best person to speak in his message

  • Alan Shore is my hero... TOTALLY rocks!!!

  • There will never be anyone like Alan Shore. Much respect to James Spader.

  • It's amazing how blind the american people are. We are standing by while government strips our powers away, and we live in a time where successful revolution may not even be possible. With the military capabilities of the government, we really have to hold onto our freedoms while we still have them, less they fall to oppression. "History repeats itself because nobody was listening the first time." some of the truest words ever spoken

  • laaaaaaaaame. Ya america sucks, can you please leave now?

You'd think the hippies would be happy with the Obamapacolypse we have to deal with now. :/ Not to mention, if your boy Clinton did his job instead of the interns, we wouldn't have had such a mess to deal with in the first place.

  • FUCK BIG BROTHER ........I got enough brothers, I don't need no govt pos males claiming any power over me........yuck, look at the shit they do.

  • u kidding mf I wasn't MUTE at all..............I screamed out at the whitehouse !!!!!

  • @SpringChatty only you?

We need AMERICA to speak out.

And saying "isn't that awful" and switching the channel isn't enough to speak out (please tell me you get the reference!)

  • @Gerstein1 Today so many people are so ignorant in america. People don't have enough information to speak out because nobody reports it! The news is so self centered on pathetic american issues that nobody sees the freedoms going or what is happening in the world.

  • Americans have become self-centered. Perhaps it's all the prozac in the water. Maybe all the pharmaceuticals they are taking. Maybe, instead of facing truth, it's easier for them to put their heads in the sand.

Bush, Obama.....they all work for the same owners. This administration has done NOTHING to give us back our freedoms that Bush stole. Why is that?

Because the hood ornament has changed, but the same speeding car is running over us all.

Welcome to the NWO. Global Government.

  • *****

  • Find Alan Shore argues before the Supreme Court and you'll know why Boston Legal was silenced. Boston Legal informed us, and we stood by (thinking it was just good entertainment) and continue to do so. But, sooner or later, people get tired, tired of being tired, defeated, and scared. Its called an Uprising!

  • Alan's closings were the best, Denny's were in a close second

  • What is the name of this song?

  • @synclavier123, I'm not sure what the song is called, but its a song from artist Sigur Ros. Good band.

  • Boston Legal told the truth.

  • i seriously watch this everyday... incredible speech...

  • I love this speech so much

  • Comment removed

  • thanks , Boston Legal is my favorite show, but I watch it in HD here:

    TVFLAP . COM

  • Beautiful.

  • What a bunch of kooks

  • Boston legal is awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • It is in series (season ) 2, episode 19 called Stick It. So if they are showing series 2 is showing in New Zealand it should show up soon.

  • Thank you

  • can anybody tell me which series this is?

  • Boston Legal

Recommend the whole series...as there are many more great speeches as the one shown in this video.

  • well i bought series 1, and im watchin series 2 on the telly, just wanna know which this is so i can buy it

  • yes there are + the show is funny as hell. It mixes some serious business and comedy well together

  • Dont you think Boston Legal was much more successful than The Practice? Yet, this show was canceled while The Practice wasn't. And THIS? An episode tackling the BANKING SYSTEM and it's close links with the GOV ? Of course the show was canceled .

  • This was one of the best shows to come out of the US. A brilliant mix of the amusement of Denny...and the cutting political commentary of both the Alan Shore and Shirley Schmidt characters.

I hate that they pulled this show....

  • yeah it was cancelled but the most disgusting thing is that most of these crap is true!

  • How many of you feel that THIS KIND OF SPEACH WAS THE REASON THAT BOSTON LEGAL WAS CANCELED ??!?! David E. Kelly stated that he was simply called by the studio and he was told that there wouldn't be a 5th season although the commercial success was perfect for this series as the audiences were EXACTLY what the advertising companies wanted : working people earning over 100,000$ a year. Mr. Davis had to fight to get the 13 episodes of the 5th season.

  • it is strange, but i dont see what the problem was, it showed both points of view from both ends of the political spectrum. Although you could say most of the time it leaned towards the left.

  • which season number and episode number is this from?

  • i miss boston legal... the best there was

  • @LicentiousSlut It has nothing to do with citizens. Read it again. All it does is that it limited what government can and cannot do.

  • @beidabaozi What government can and cannot do to citizens. The 14th Amendment is part of the Constitution.

  • @LicentiousSlut except the constitution protects people in general, not just citizens.

When you start arguing that the rights only apply to citizens, you instantly create second class of people.

  • 1. Check out the US Constitution:

    Art III sects 2 & 3, the 5th, 6th and 7th amendments and the 14th amendment, paragraph 1.

    2. Check out the Third Geneva Convention (1929) and the 1949 Conventions, common articles 1-3

    3. Refer also to the Nuremberg Principles

4.Refer to St.Thomas Aquinas principles on a just war (jus ad bellum)

All these references are justifcations in American law, international law and moral philosophy in granting terror suspects a trial, any arguments?

  • ya theres a reason why canadians don't have guns.. no crime oh wait.. no crime ..no guns..hmm ..look at the diffrent percent of crime and deaths

  • So, your arguement is that if we eliminate guns then there would be no murders? Oh way, there's also knives, strangulations(also known as Death by Asphixiation) Arsenists, motor vehicle homocides. The problem isn't that guns exist. It's the people behind the guns. The gun doesn't kill a person. It's the person who pulled the trigger. I would also like to point out that many of these deaths by guns are done by people who were merely defending themselves in the first place.
