  • Book of instruction for any performer on his level. Perfectly handled!

  • He might be a bit pissed but I've seen much worse from other performers in the same situation. I've seen celebs jump off stage and punch people in the face even if they don't really know who threw the bottle. I think James was right in what he did.

  • why the hell would anyone go to a show to throw something at the musicians!? STAY THE FUCK HOME!

  • he drop the mic like..............lol

  • tav2000 how was it meeting him hes seems like he doesnt give shit! i bet he was hilarious

  • Fuck I love how he just kicks back into it. James Brown!

  • i love how he and his band just got right back into it. my man james!

  • 2, 3 and... deee de...

he drilled his crew a lot. if you miss your entry you get killed by a shure sm58 XD

  • DON'T FUCK WITH JAMES BROWN!!

  • Throwing bottles onstage is rude. I don't blame James.

  • I don't karate - but I know CA-RAZY!

  • @hyperlexic2 -Great , great comment!!! LOL!!!

  • PAPA don't take NO MESS!

  • where is the asian man ?

    LOL

goddamn place as packed with asians..

  • I feel bad for James Brown's translator, you can barely understand James Brown when he speaks English. It's more like English -> James Brown -> Japanese translator.

  • @g6playlist dude, totally. you know that guy just made something up because he had no idea what James was saying.

  • @hyperlexic2 lol ... translation: please enjoy refreshments at our concession stands

  • @hyperlexic2 oh,he knew what james was saying, you can believe that.

  • @g6playlist you can't,but most of us die hard fans can understand him.

  • he just HAD to get that solo in...lol

  • He had every right to be mad

  • JB was right to be pissed...what the fuck was that, throwing a bottle at the stage ? It's not about the gesture, it's about safety, I hate people doing this kind of crap, drunk, high, it doesn't matter, there's no excuse for that.

  • ...and I thought he was pissed because the guitar player wouldn't stop soloing...

  • @UncleTito72 Thats exactly what I was thinking ... That kid just carried on an used the opertunity to show off thinking he was jimmy hendrix .. wtf ... people came to see james brown not some defiant teen who needs to get some manners lol ... I can feel james frustration in this situation ... this wasnt long before he died ... so this kinda stress was the last thing the man needed when he was working his arse off doing his thing ... love the way he handled the situation .papa dont take no mess!!

  • visit my music channel

  • Even when hes mad he right on time with it what a cool MutherLover

  • That jap had no fucking idea who he was messing with. What an asswipe.

  • @picure He's not God, just James Brown, where is he now if he's so powerful? No human is invincible, we all die eventually so stop giving him godly status when he was no different to u and me.

  • @sweetbutdaring I can see that you live up to your nickname on YouTube. Thank you for reminding us that we are all mortals but I think everyone understood that. The word 'God' can be found defining in any good dictionaries a supreme being, a superhuman being or spirit worshiped as having power over nature or human fortunes - it can also be described as : an image, idol, animal, or other object worshiped as divine or symbolizing a god and/or used as a conventional personification of faith…

  • @sweetbutdaring … and sorry to break it onto you but you are no James Brown… wake up! ( ;

  • @sweetbutdaring ok people treat michael jackson like a god and no one has objections to that

  • haaaaaaa

  • He could have spoken in greek and I'd understand him about the same.

  • when you throw some more, we quit

  • WHAT THE HECK DID HE SAY AT 1:30?

  • @BIGSABMUSIC "when you throw something on we quit.

  • What one man can take no one takes...

  • I feel bad for the interpreter having to interpret James' sentences.

  • Don't feel bad he knew what he said.

  • lol the guitarest just dies to play that solo lol

  • Check out the drummer behind James when they start again LOL!!! He didnt miss and shit & had his back turned!!!!!!!

  • True professional there!

  • he is totally right and dealt with the situation like everyone should short briefly and then the show must go on

  • Didn't miss a beat!

  • LOL i'm so glad you caught that at the end! JB4Ever!!!

  • Only James Brown. Her kept cool with it

  • unbelievable, how could someone have the nerve to throw something at James Brown!! disgracefull!!

However James Brown dealt with the situation very well!!!

god rest the soul of the godfather of soul!!

  • Why does James Brown have 2 drummers and one does nothing?

  • he has always had 2 drummer for certain song different styles 4 different songs

  • yakuza dont through nothin on stage....lol ya heard me,....

  • did you see how it tight the band was coming back in.. 2, 3, smash

  • Dumb !

  • I would be pissed too if some one threw something at me.

  • He Felt Good!!!

    LOL

  • I saw a crowd tear a guy apart at MSG NYC for throwing a bottle at Ian Anderson. Ian ordered his destruction from the stage. It was phenomenal.

  • LMFAO!!!!.....this guy pulled a randy watson at 1:08 ....hilarious!!!

  • Randy Watson lmao!!!!!!

  • RANDY WATSON, LMAO!!!!! thats funny

  • from "Coming To America"? LOL Lord....

  • I remember being at rap concert, where the rapper was willing to pay anyone $5,000 dollars to point out who was throwing bottles on stage

  • ups is mean JAMES BROWN KICKASS :P

  • hmmm if i would see some guy throwing botle to james brown i would fucking kick hes ass because JAMES BROWN KICK ASS

  • wait i dont get it, why would they throw a bottle? James Brown is awesome to any type of crowd.

  • wow..he's supercool..!

  • Crowd should know not to fuck with a professional..

  • @augustusdes Amen, especially JB. I like some rap, but most of these wanna be's could never hold a candle to where they got their best shit from. He counts it right back in. Haha

  • JB was too bad. Stop the show, call a translator, then start the band back in right on the one! lmfao.

  • obviously not sure, but dont think the bottle thrower meant disrespect ,think it was some sort of respect if you see what i mean. however if you want a laugh find 50cent at the Reading uk concert and watch him get absoloutely hammered by an audience who dont want him there ,top stuff.

  • you see how James started the concert again. This is a tight highly professional band. That all started at the same sequence point.Thats something these new Lil Wayne ,and LIL John types don't even understand

  • i thought i saw it all from bottles to coins to bricks at concerts, the fact alone that someone pays money for a ticket then throws something at the band singer wichever , is already a complete and utter idiot who may best be dealt with , with a shot in the neck at a parking lot. but to see even someone throwing a bottle at james brown ... what a world

  • wow someone did throw something at him, lol, he/she got balls.

  • if you're throwing something a james brown, there is something seriously wrong with you

  • love it. that's how to show whose boss. the audience like that though. means they know the performer means business.

  • James was the Man. Haha! WTF! Did they think they were at a Sex Pistols concert? and I thought Americans were stupid... shit!

  • it was legit... fatherly advice from the godfather

  • this is not lack of humility. all JB was tryingto do was set the record st8 with them and let them know to chill out with throwing objets onstage or they will walk off stage and call it a night. if not worse things could have happned so he just nipped it in the bud right there so that the show can go on . period

  • James Brown playing in Japan was a silly idea anyway.Wasted journey. Why waste your time performing a type of music the Japanese can't relate to?

  • Comment removed

  • Who are you calling a *** ? That was totally uncalled for. You may say the Japanese have a deep love of funk and jazz but this sort of thing would never have happened anywhere else, hence my opinion.

  • RocketFromTheTomb, I have tried to shown restraint but your decsion to refer to me as 'doogy' leaves me with no option but to say this to you...FUCK YOU AND GO AND CHEW ON SOME BRATWURST.YOU TOSSER!

  • That still Dosen't Make it right Sir

  • Many in Japan love soul music. I'd bet you'll find more soul music in Tokyo than you'll find in Atlanta.

  • That's because, per capita, the Japanese have a higher disposable income than those in Atlanta. You can HAVE as much soul music as you like in Japan - it doesn't mean that the Japanese can understand and feel the soul groove as the Americans or British do.The Japanese are just faceless copycats who are trying desperately (and failing) to be westernised and cool.

  • that is a fact. that is where the record companys put a lot of it because it sells there.... and other places overseas...

  • rude and impolited japanese

  • like he said, papa dont take no mess....James Brown will gladly kick your ass.

  • The way they just come right back into it at the end is fucking great

  • you want to see bottles... for real? look at the video of justin timberlake at toronto rock sarstock in 2003 before the stones or angus into another show...

  • you've really got to be an idiot to throw something into the stage ... i dont think its a rock concert, either way... - "i met him and all i can say is...zero humility. It's fuckin James Brown what do you expect! Godfather."

er i dont think its lack of humility from jb more like fucking disrespect from the stupid faggget who threw the bottle... you got it the wrong way around

  • omg that dude that translatin iz hoootttt!

  • "Get Up Offa That Thing."

  • Don't throw nuthin on the stage!

    Yeah!

Throw somethin on the stage we quit!

(If you throw somethin on the stage they gonna quit)

    Good God!

    HEY!

    What song was that?

  • HAHAHHAHHAHA!

  • The song was "get up off of that thing" written by he and his little daughter in the mid 70s.

  • and I'm an idiot for spelling or backwards...ahahaha! at least James ain't mad at me...heh heh

  • Man, folks obviously didn't know ro realize who was entertaining them....idiots.

  • james brown is the best!

  • like lil wayne on london hahahah is amazing lol

  • yeah i know hahaha that guy just pulls a solo and james brown is like ok " stop fucking playing i said stop" hahahaha it was good like at least he has the fucking guts to say it out loud but man that band is fucking tight after 1,2,3,4,5 they start playing again! tight

  • He should've gone right into "The Big Payback" after making that announcement. "REVENGE! I'M MAD!". Oh man ... that would have been perfect.

  • lmao! =D

  • u ain't never lied, that would've been tight! But dropping that mike stand was...priceless!

  • wow that was rude

  • james brown was the man and he demands respect period yall were lucky to ever see him on stage he was the best!!!

  • I had an easier time understanding the MC than James, and I can't even speak Japanese.

  • who the fuck bottles James Brown?!

  • someone very very drunk

  • I saw James Brown supporting the Chili Peppers, some people in the crowd were throwing bottles on stage, some even hit the drum kit. Complete fucking lack of respect. Don't these people know, no James Brown= no chili peppers. Simple

  • wtf Is going on?

  • haha that guys just pulling a solo

  • Then again at least he didn't pull an Axl Rose.

  • He should have beat his ass.

  • James Brown ran a tight ship - you don't throw bottles on THE man's stage!

...I'm going to listen to some James Brown's music after posting this comment...

  • Habba due bada da da! HA! HEEEEEY! (Eddie Murphy)

  • Then again, others can talk... talkin' loud, and sayin' nothing.

  • Is James The MAN or what!!! Sexy chocolate...

  • He handled that like a true king...then with just a "1,2,3,4" the band started up again without skipping a beat. THAT'S A TIGHT BAND!!!

  • RULEZ

  • He's James Brown bitch! RIP godfather.

  • that was messed up but it still made me laugh a litle, at least he didnt get hit

  • thats how u handle it. papa dont take no mess.

  • pandaeyes42, taht comment was funny as s***!

  • English, James. English!!

  • This is what I always loved about James Brown. His band is always on cue and super disciplined! I love it.

  • Hey people have stopped shows for worse reasons. I think James is in the right. People throwing bottles and shit on stage are stupid assholes who should be dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Robert Fripp won't even let people take PICTURES at King Crimson shows, and stops the show until the person who took the picture gives up the camera. That's much worse, in my opinion.

  • UMmmm.. Are you saying his actions were bad? ...excuse me but. When the Godfather of soul, a legend, demands that NO idiots throw things at the stage, you should comply eagerly. Show some respect to a musical legend . "zero humility" ?.. he doesn't need to be humble.

  • Eddie Murphy quote "what the fuck is james talkin about??"

  • Someone threw bottle on the stage.

    So he say 'no'.

  • I watched this like 10 times. And I don't know what he is saying. Does anyone speak japanes? Maybe you could understand him.

  • well the japanese guy says please don't throw stuff on the stage to the crowd..

  • thats how you handle it.

  • "PAPPA DON'T TAKE NO MESS"

    a legend has died

  • what the hell did he say

  • how should i know?

Let the groove speak for itself.

  • i really miss james he was and still is a legend THE! godfather of soul!!

  • did someone say yakuza

  • You tell em Godfather!!

  • I would've done the same thang! By the way: The Asian guy is hot...

  • How the fuck are his band so tight?

  • Check out the end, how fast the percussion guy got the cue. Unbelievable.

  • hahahahahaha i noticed that...too fly

  • The shitty Jon Spencer Blues Explosion weren't fit to

carry the amps for JB's band let alone share a stage with him!

  • James is the GRATEst.

  • thats right james was a beautiful guy he sometimes takes time out during his concerts to praise the old legends who have passed on like jimi elvis and so on now i can see if it was some corny artist but this man is a legend like no other how dare they disrespect like that.

  • this was funny man james brown was a cool man who cared about respect i used to think bad of him but now i regret that

  • Your man Mj Loved james brown he was there at the funeral.

  • yea i know and he always will love james we all will

  • No shit, James was damn right on to stop the show.

  • I love it, I love it, give respect where respect is due!!

  • James Brown is totally right...

  • charinko

  • You see how he count it off with the band when the Asian man was done with the mic???

    lol....Even when he's piss, he's funky!!!!

  • You don't fuck with the Godfather

  • thats right people should know better that know james brown dont piss him off that was very fuckin childish and dis=respectful

  • I just saw him the night before last and he was amazing. People who throw bottles on stage are complete morons; they're looking for some sort of attention I reckon. James Brown deserves a lot more respect than that. So fuck the person who threw the bottle. If you display your excitement by throwing a bottle then I feel sorry for you.

  • hahaha ok ok i defer. maybe throwin shit is lame. but who cares. watchin James freak is funny. Why the fuck is everyone so serious on this site anyway?

  • Maybe you won't care for shit if james brown got hit by a bottle. If you got hit by a bottle, would you be pissed off as well?

  • yea its very disrespectful is like not appreciating wat u are giving the public its as if they were booing him just look at it that way.

  • Ok, next time I go to a show and get excited, I'll throw a wiffle ball onstage - like I always do when I get excited! Isn't that what we ALL do when we see a great show - throw shit onstage? And I go out a lot! Next time I see Aretha Franklin and she hits one of those notes that only she can, I'll make sure the ball even hits her. That way, she'll REALLY know I like it!

  • They were excited and therefore felt the need to hurl a bottle at one of the most important artists in the history of music?

They were enjoying the show so much they felt the need to interrupt it and irritate the leading man?

  • jesus man you need to get out more. gimme a break

  • I'd be pretty pissed off if somebody threw something onstage too. It's rude and disrespectful, but more to the point, dangerous.

What is the thought process before doing something like that? Exactly how retarded would you have to be?

  • umm they were excited? ever been to a show? i know it seems retarded but gimme a break its a freakin plastic bottle. now if someone shot at him that woulda been somethin to talk about.

  • James Brown does not take any crap. There is a lot of talk of him being tough with his band members, but he also looks out for them and since he is the star, it is his responsibility to make sure everything stays safe. The bottle may have been plastic but if this behavior wasn't curtailed it could have escalated into something worse.

  • PSA for James Brown. brought to you by James Brown. thanks for the info tiger.

  • You can say he has 'zero humility' but I don't blame him for being pissed that some ignorant fan threw a bottle on stage. Good for him!

  • true that. "Asian man" comment rules though.

  • What does humility have to do with throwing bottles on stage?...I would walk off if it hit my band to. Anyone who likes to do dumb shhh like that needs to grow the hell up and go to a punk rock show.. Thats how law suits get started.

  • very good point
