This movie has been a part of my life since I was a teen. When I was a teen, I went to Catholic (water)boarding school. I was a strange kid. Already been to Rocky Horror, seen Pink Flamingos, and read National Lampoon. They called me gifted LOL. Horny! Anyways enough background.
We were only allowed PG movies (later PG-13). With my "gifted knowledge", I was a database on PG Boob. When I showed up with Barbarella, it was PG. We played the hell out of that tape.
If I were Jane Fonda, I'd show everybody this scene and say "Look how hot I used to look!" She still looks good but it's awesome that she has this "memento" when she looked perfect to keep forever.

I saw Barbarella (in Tucson) shortly after it was released in 1968. The nudity in the clip posted here is much more explicit than the version I saw, especially near the end. Is this from a more recently edited version of the film?
God, I hope there isnt a remake. You know it would suck. They just cant remake movies from the 60s without being all PC about it. And then the remake becomes the standard and the original goes down the memory hole. When was the last time you saw the original "Bedazzled"?
@polycarpx I honestly did not know bedazzled was remade. At least i have seen it on T.V on several occasions, so at least its not completely forgotten
@sgtcrabfat There was talk about it couple years back, using the same French decorators that designed the sets in the original (as it should be) but so far nothing has come of it. Honestly, no one could replace Jane Fonda as Barbarella...who would star in it?
Jane Fonda looking about as gorgeous as a woman ever did in films from the sixties, with possibly Raquel Welch in "One Million years BC" a very close second, and Ursula Andress in "Dr No" an equally close third?
What makes this work is that, not only is a beautiful woman getting naked right in front of us, but she is utterly unselfconscious in the doing of it. She is mostly smiling, and while the credits may be attempting (and failing) to preserve her modesty, she herself makes no such effort. The zero-G is a nice touch, and if the new movie doesn't include a version of this, then it fails in the first four and a half minutes.
i see boobies

Let's hope they use these (European) title credits rather than the censored US version (like they did for the dvd) for the Blu Ray!

Robert Rodriguez was asked to direct the remake and he agreed as long as he could cast his wife, Rose McGowen in the lead.
Her little dance at the beginning of "Planet Terror" was pretty hot.
But the studio said "No" and so Rodriguez walked.
As fine as she is, I agree with the studio...Barbarella is intelligent and innocent
Rose looks kinda mean.

No doubt that was Tom Jones singing.
And that opening is quite an eyeful...
especially close to the end!

@Blackroo1967 Wrong, Bob Crewe and Glitterhouse performed all of the sound tracks for the movie.

@polycarpx I agree. Those that want to create remakes of movies truly are
lacking in originality, and only interested in stroking their egos.
Like the old saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

@polycarpx What if there´s a remake with Paris Hilton playing as Barbarella?
Woo ... Chill out !!! just kidding !!!

@captpicard100 Those are women considered as Hollywood Goddesses
of Film in the 60s. They MADE Hollywood great in the film industry back then.
Too bad that Hollywood has none of the qualities built by these women.

Not really, the video to "Put Yourself In My Place" was openly made as an hommage a "Barbarella"
