I am comparing Japanese and American gestures. At first I thought that Americans use far more gestures. This gentleman uses his hands about 40 times in the first 105 seconds of his speach. In a 105 second Japanese speech, where the speaker mainly had his hands clasped behind his back, he only used his hands three times. But he nodded or bowed, or half nodded-bowed 45 times. This gentleman also uses nodding (20 times?) and also a lot of side to side movements. But they are not as emphasised.
