  • Love Paul Simon, thanks for this beautiful song!

  • I always loved this album as a whole. This song was always kind of special, but now I just can't listen to it without getting emotional. I think Paul would say the same. It really tells it strait. God bless America....

  • Love this song, As we watched TV that day, and gaps, cried, and ask WHY? Then silence fell among families, friends, co-workers, and the Nations, So many souls taken that day, and we still ask WHY? 10 years, and still its sad memories, for all of us who are FREE. Thanks to the MEN and WOMEN who serve to protect of Freedom.

  • Let us be strong -together- *Semper Fi*

  • Great!!

  • Just beautiful! <3 not many people can sing so well in is age!

  • PEACE__www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zbeMaHr1q0

  • You can call him Al.

  • @notjam3

over a million innocent iraqis my shithole

  • It's interesting that noone here realizes the fact that this song was written about JFK being assassinated, and it's current implications question the official 9/11 story. He wasn't even supposed to be performing this song.

  • 50 years from now the place will be another Grants Tomb. Run down, void full of trash, barricades at all the entrances and bums hanging around smelling like shit and piss.

  • Hate to sound like an idiot, but where was Art Garfunkel? Had he died?

  • @sheldonholy Paul and Art disbanded as a duo several decades ago. They performed together in a "reunion" concert in Central Park (circa about 1986?), and to my knowledge, never made another public appearance together again. Simon has made several solo hit albums since the breakup - the most notable (to my mind) is "Graceland." Simon wrote all of their songs, and IMHO is an eternal genius. He lives in NYC.

  • @MzProgressive no it was 81 and september 11th 1981. 20 years before exactly. i should know i have the cd of that concert

  • @oliverjumelle Wow thanks! I was AT that concert in Central Park - were you? I guess after 20 years, the dates get fuzzy.

  • @MzProgressive wasnt even orn yet

  • @oliverjumelle But you have good taste in music, nevertheless.

  • @MzProgressive true. in secondary school all my classmates were wearing t shirts from the modern day useless singers like lindsay lohan and lady gaga. i was wearing bruce springsteen's born to run and simon and garfunkel t shirts. thanks to my parents i grew up knowing what good music really is. i remember when i was a young boy my dad always played this song in the car! from the live in central park! well you know what we wanted to have fireworks tonight but they wouldnt let us have that

  • so lets all make are own fireworks! classic moment of that concert

  • Love this song ! God Bless all who lost their life ......Paul Simon so much able to produce deeply moving sound ...excellent performance !

  • a very good and moving performance

  • Mooi gebracht van paul...op naar de echte 9/11 waarheid

  • Lost my two brothers and cousin in the attacks. A couple years ago I heard this song and it hit me how appropriate it is for the situation. I was at the ceremony at the memorial site when I heard the song playing. How sad it may me feel yet it was perfect for the moment. Thanks Paul. Please remember Felix Vale, Ivan Vale and Betsy Martinez.

  • @joseq2 I am so sorry to hear that your family suffered this tremendous loss. My heart goes out to you and your family.

I was there too, with my friend who lost her fiance, just 5 weeks before their date.

Those who worked at the WTC were the nation's brightest and best, and their loss leaves a terrible scar. I pray the good memories you have will begin to overshadow the pain, but I know that words can never fill that empty space in your lives. May God send you comfort and peace.

  • Be stong American brother/sister! From France !

  • And I bow my head and reflect. God bless all of you and all those who have lost a loved on on that evil filled day. I will pray for all of you. Amen

  • Psalm 23 "Even though I walk through the valley in the shadow of death, I will show no fear, for you are with me". Goodnite, Godspeed, and God bless America

  • es is hammer, das lied und seine art passen zu diesem schrecklichen Tag

  • amazing

  • Imagine if Art was with him & they chose to do "Bridge Over Troubled Waters". That might have been too intense for even the artists to get through.

  • I think this song was written over 47 years ago in the aftermath of the JFK assasination. How much more meaningful that song is now, when played at Ground Zero. Chilling!

  • And I bow my head and reflect.

  • 9/11 will be remembered for years to come not only for the lost of so many lives. It will always be a reminder of how dark and evil human nature can be. I hope we now on also use the 9/11 as a day to celebrate humanity, compassion and life.

  • hermoso.

  • THE BRAZIL CRY FOR VICTMIS THIS HORRIBLE EVENT...GOD BLESS YOURS.

  • Paul Simon makes this very special moment so beautiful poignant , these images with those of the terrible tragedy shall forever be etched in the minds of everyone and i hope the loss suffered by so many will serve as a human reminder that intolerance and strife eventually ends with no meaning, no gain, no victory. There is only loss for all.

May the light shine on humanity and dark clouds be swept away .

  • Dedicated to victims who lost their life in 9/11. Sound of Silence performed by Paul Simon

  • And in the naked light I saw

    ten thousand people maybe more

    people talking without speaking

    people hearing without listening

people writing songs that voices never share

noone dare disturb the sound of silence

May those victims rest in peace....

And the one that dislike this video, DOES NOT HAVE A HEART.

  • Thank you Paul Simon for inspiring me to puck up a guitar 30 years ago......would have loved to have seen Artie with him........thoughts and prays going out to the families who lost loved ones 10 years ago........love from Australia.....we lost 10 people that day as well..ps...i haven't had a cry for a while..but a tear rolled down my eye when i heard the line..."when my eyes were stabbed by a flash of neon light"......RIP.....our spirit can not be broken!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • rest in peace for all the innocent victims who died on 9/11 and also after that in the war ,which results on that.So also the innocent afghan famillies

  • 3000 souls weren't lost, 3000 bodies were =)

  • Real music! May the victims of 9/11 and false wars someday see the benefactors and conspirators of 9/11 brought to justice. 10 years and still no justice.

  • Magnum Opus. Holy Man cleaning Temple with his own weeping. (Not the tune scheduled by the perpetrators / secretgov usa united slaves of america

  • Thanks for posting this. It's much more meaningful and real, in some respects, than the version of "The Boxer" that Paul sang on "SNL" right after 9/11(on the request of Rudi Giuliani).

  • I feel like a burden has been lifted.

  • i don't think that i can think of a more appropriate song and performance for the occasion

  • This song is so appropriate! What can one possibly say about the senselessness of the event! 10 years later and it still invokes overwhelmling emotions!!! Rest in Peace - David Marc Sullins and all the other victims of this act of inhumanity!

  • Incredible... his best and most meaningful performance in his life. Awesome and brilliant.

  • @Cougaram Totally agree. Sang straight from his heart. Beautiful.

  • Good will always overcome evil.

Like darkness flees from the light.

    Never Forget.

  • Just looking into his eyes you can feel his emitions. You can see his sadness. Brilliant song. Never Forget 9/11

  • Even in France, we'll never forget...

Thanks Mister Simon for those minutes of pure emotion...

  • brillient

i am trying to fing a u tube of the floutist who played amazing grace

  • Yeah my thoughs are to all down there and to all families who lost some :(

  • a beautiful and respectful tribute

  • How can anyone dislike this !!!!

  • @inidreamtheater Some people will automatically post "dislike" to any clip they see-just for the sake of getting attention, any attention. It's the online version of the kids who sit in the front row of a multiplex and make fart noises during EVERY movie(including "Schindler's List", in all likelihood).

  • A god rests the victims, let him help it and let two favour the deceased's family members with the strength of his hand.I am Hungarian but until today our heart together is punished if we give a thought to him what those people_nation may have experienced .

  • You touched my heart ... thank you Simon for your beautiful tribute ... <3

  • Isten nyugosztalja az áldozatokat, segítse és támogassa az elhunytak családtagjait két kezének erejével.Magyar vagyok de máig a szívünk össze szorul ha rá gondolunk mit élhettek át azok az emberek .

  • this was a great performance....Art would have been a huge plus...but i give it an A+ anyways....

  • ‎9/11, you are gone, but never forgotten.

I can't even describe how it hurts to see what happened.. Not even words can describe it, only the sound of silence, may you RIP for all eternity

  • ook in Belgie wordt het niet vergeten , God bless all country's

  • Also in Italy, we will never forget!

    God bless America and Italy!

  • also in the netherlands is this a day we will never forget for the dear americans they left their lifes ....... :-( thanx paul simon for the gift you have give for us all...... (sound of silence)

  • This song is perfect for this memorial. But at the same time it feels like it doesn't belong in this time we live in. This song was written and sung in better times, more simple times, more sane times. Times that sadly, I never witnessed. The 9/11 attacks did not only kill a lot of innocent people. It marked the begin of a new era. A more dark era, and a more fucked up world.

May the victims of this attack and its aftermath (Irak, Afganistan) rest in PEACE.

    from the Netherlands

  • RIP for those who have died for nothing...

  • It's a sad day all over the world, also here in Turin, Italy.

I don't think God should bless only america, but everyone who wants peace in this world!

You are strong people dear americans!!! I'm with you, we are with you.

  • Beautiful tribute. ... I'm praying for an end to hate, everywhere.

  • I swear to G-d if ANYONE dislikes this video they are a terrorist. I don't care if that comment just crossed a line, but disliking this video will only make THEM look bad. Thank you for uploading this video. It's something that everyone must see. God, let those poor people rest in eternal peace and serenity. They deserve it more than anyone.

God Bless America, and God Bless us All.

  • Some times you have to fly high, before you can touch the ground.

Some times you have to kiss the dust before you can touch the ground.

Some times a storry got to be told, a chapter need to end and the last 'doot' is usefull to make a new begining...

A tear feld i the sound of silence!

May God be there to hold a hand over the families that lost some one in this madness!

  • IT IS ALSO A SAD DAY IN DENMARK WE MUST NEVER FORGET THIS DAY

  • God help victims' families...:(

  • This was a beautiful moment on a very sad and sombre day. The words take on new meaning. Thanks for posting. Robert. AUSTRALIA.

  • I flew home from New york 9/11. Will never forget that last wiew I got on the towers from the airplane.. May all of the victims rest in peace.

  • May those victims of 9/11 rest in peace for all eternity, you will never be forgotten.

'The visions that were planted in my head, still remains within the sounds of silence'

  • @bxjewel Thanks man. it means a lot. on that day i was 13. i called my dad because i heard he was in the south tower. i was on the phone with him hoping he's okay. and he's on the phone with me while trying to find an exit. about 5 min later this is how the convo goes.

Me: Dad please get out! i can't loose you.

Dad: i'm trying my best! don't worry. keep our family safe.

    Me: I will, I will

    Dad: ......

I will never forget those exact words. He was the best dad i could ever ask for. R.I.P. DAD 911
