I completely agree. A great gimmick and he was getting over with the audiance. I guess Vince has never heard of Captain Jack Sparrow and a little trio of movies called Pirates of the Carribean. It also helps Paul is a talented wrestler and given that he's British, his accent isn't faked at all. I hope when he comes back the audiance starts to yell "We want the Captain Paul!!"

He was sent to OVW its a training area for wwe wrestlers and the reason they pulled the plug on his gimmick is because Disney was gonna sue them for stealing pirates of the carribean. He was a great pirate character its too bad they had to pull the plug.

Well when it comes to the Hassan character, that was the WWE's fault for not editing out the crucification thing. But then, the media is also far too sensitive to things like that at times (And yes, I understand why, but most people who watch wrestling realise it's characters now, and not real.)

The reports were that when Vince McMahon was told by the writers they wanted a pirate gimmick, he was thinking along the lines of Jean-Pierre Lafitte, a WWF pirate gimmick from the mid-90s, and he'd never even heard of Pirates of the Carribean or Jack Sparrow. Which is hard to believe, but Vince also scrapped an angle in 1999 because he'd never heard of the Blair Witch Project.

I don't think Disney would ever sue for that. He wasn't calling himself Jack Sparrow, it was a parody. They couldn't sue for that.
Also, I doubt Burchill didn't know how to act like a pirate. I'm sure he's seen the films. I'm not sure why the gimmick was dropped, it was pretty good.

He was sent to OVW its a training area for wwe wrestlers and the reason they pulled the plug on his gimmick is because Disney was gonna sue them for stealing pirates of the carribean. He was a great pirate character its too bad they had to pull the plug.

while you are correct that they sent him to ovw to train the reason for them pulling the plug is because Burchill didn't know how to act like a pirate. Vince wanted him to be like a real pirate but burchill never saw the movies so therefore they ended the gimmick. To bad I think that gimmicked rocked, it was the same as that muhammad hassan gimmick they had to cut him off because the networks didn't want him on TV. He was a good heel, someone you could really hate lol

Well when it comes to the Hassan character, that was the WWE's fault for not editing out the crucification thing. But then, the media is also far too sensitive to things like that at times (And yes, I understand why, but most people who watch wrestling realise it's characters now, and not real.)

Paul was born and resided in Guildford. He was billed from St Thomas in the Virgin Islands during the pirate gimmick. Most likely, he is actually residing somewhere in the US, close to Kentucky.

I heard that the movie producers of Pirates Of The Carribean Threatened a law suit over this gimmik... That's why Vince scrapped it.

The reports were that when Vince McMahon was told by the writers they wanted a pirate gimmick, he was thinking along the lines of Jean-Pierre Lafitte, a WWF pirate gimmick from the mid-90s, and he'd never even heard of Pirates of the Carribean or Jack Sparrow. Which is hard to believe, but Vince also scrapped an angle in 1999 because he'd never heard of the Blair Witch Project.
