not quite right there friend, things kinda change at higher levels, now we have systems that let us level alone, not by killing monsters but by doing small missions, also, if you are decent at your job you should be able to kill a monster of your level.
and hopefully with Lvl 99 cap increase we will become powerful enough to solo the most monsters.

@1:28 The first elvaan on the left is in Blue Mage Artifact. And The bird hes killing is in Aht Urgan Area at 1:49. @ 32 hes at Aht Urgan Gates. And in the credits he mentions a Blue Mage in the video :P. I think it is more of a tribute to Dragoons Pre-Aht Urgan/Per-Increased invites before the 2 handed increase, however ToAU existed when the video was made.
in my opinion DRG is one of the top DD in the game, i used to be a 75 DRG although i wasn't the best DD out there i still kicked ass on colibiri, DRG shouldn't be put down they're great long live DRG!
Drg can be as good as a Damage dealer as SAM and DRK even better. ive played the job for 2years and its a very player dependent job, also when used on the right mobs such as Greater Colibri you really cant find a better dd for those.
lol. I love this because its so true. To the naysayers even now with TOAU there is the horrible period from 40-50 with no invites which has forced me to level a mage sub and solo til I can get some of those TOAU parties.
The irony in this is that he's decked out in Artifact dragoon armor and high lvl. Both of which require you to party with others ALOT. I would of actually felt sorry for you were you some low lvl dragoon stuck in the dunes, atleast your high enough lvl and pimped out enough to solo just about any zone in the game.
DRG is getting more popular now ^^ Drg defense is low but our attack power is high making drgs one of the highest damage dealers. When I do campaign, I see a lot of drgs.
Actually, DRK and SAM are higher than DRG. Drg is still a very good damage dealer and more people should lvl it ^^ It is one of the best jobs in the whole game, and it will always be one of the best. :D DRG 4 ever!!!

I miss playing my DRG on FFXI. I dunno why they got such a bad rap, I FAR out damaged every other class I saw in parties. The only problem parties ever had with me was the fact that I would constantly pull hate because of high damage.
If you have alot of problems getting invites as drg I suggest grabbing 4 fellow Drgs and a refresher and starting a Healing Breath Burn pt. They work great. Also invites get alot better around 73 for TP burns.
:D dnc in a drg burn does sound hot, hope you didn't use Drain Samba, that would be annoying having a drain hit screw up your trigger hp lol. Guess it wouldn't be that big of a deal though, since most trigger spells for HB are 5-8 mp.
Creative, never seen someone make their own lyrics and it actually sounds like it makes sense other then Weird Al. Just hope it's not as hard to be a Dragoon people say it is.
I got the job almost a month ago and I'm only up to lvl 20. I find myself lvln alone alot too. It only took me 3 1/2 weeks to get to lvl 40 with my SAM cuz everytime I put up my seek party I had a inv within 5 minutes. People love DD's but they have no luv for DRG's.
dragoons are awesome DD's but as you get higher level partys seem to die a little and at 60 pick up again. Not sure why but thats what i have heard and i am lvl 52 and i gotta say it has slowed down some.
Since I posted that comment, I've come to notice that it's not that ppl dislike DRG's, it's just that they are a 2nd or 3rd choice if the team can get a SAM, WAR, or DRK first. I've also talked to some of my friends on different servers and a few of them have said they noticed the same attitude against DRG's too.
Then again, sometimes you just get unlucky by running into n00bs that trash certain jobs based on what someone else told them and don't inv you.
DRG has got a little better but like BST, I think its one of the jobs there are a lot of gimp'ish people who play. Other melee jobs, even a gimp equipped SAM can do decent damage. DRG like BST needs awesome gear to out damage our keep up with other DD's. I've destroyed Ridill WAR's on my BST a couple times but someone of the same skill and gear will pwn me ; ;

I'd have to disagree with the gear part. What most people don't get is what to equip their drg with. You don't usually need HQ outside of the HQ gear every other DD wants (SH+1, Spike Necklace, etc), As a drg I've done more dmg than anyone else in my party and much of my gear is basic and nothing special.
People just have the mentality to buy armor before weapon. With the dragoon, its the other way around. If they're in a party, its not their job to take ANY hits, only cause damage. STR and DEX all the way.

As for mage sub, on my DRG I am able to chain 5 on VT's in Caedarva Mire by using Drachen Armet (head AF1) and Wyrm Armet (head AF2) for advanced healing effects. The flies go down hard and fast, and that was before the 2h buff. I haven't tried it since the buff.
Dragoon is a badass since the 2h buff two weeks ago, especially against flying mobs. I've seen lowly double thrust on new Dragoon levellers breaking 400 in the early 30's. They also boosted Penta Thrust from 75% damage x5 hits to 100% damage x5 hits so it can do some pretty decent damage in endgame camps against flies, puks, and birds.

I think he is subbing blm, cause its the faster spell that blm have. /war is good, but not for soloing. Better to have a /mage to get a beautiful healing breath when needed.
I finally hit 75 some days ago. I celebrate it with my wyvern Lumiere and bought me a little gift, a Wyvern Helm. Going to merit party for Angon and Strafe (1 merit point already in bank :D) for all future drg on Bismarck server who have question, ask Shadowdragon, I am always happy to help :D

Great job! It's really like that for me too... If I can't create party, i solo. I am tired to see people saying those who don't get invite sucks or are not good. It's not true! Dragoon has been a underlooked job, but if you look, they are now a lot of lvl 75 drg. We begin to get some invites. The trick: Do yourself a lot of friends :D

I feel your pain man. My first job to 75 was drg, took forever and I made all of my parties. Then guess what... my account was stolen 2 weeks after getting drg 75 >.>
lol, trust me when making a party fails, I ended up soloing most of the time when I was around the 40's. I even sacrificed night's worth of sleep just so I can level at least onces with my job and the worse part is that it was my main. But despite all that I was proud to be it.
HA, funny stuff, I go Drg/blu and its more fun than the xp grind with others anyway, sometimes. I know there are others out there but you guys should make more vids about others jobs too, nice work.

Sorry to say, but the Dragoon is probably the WORST thing to have as a subjob. They don't get their wyvern, making them nigh useless.

As for mage sub, on my DRG I am able to chain 5 on VT's in Caedarva Mire by using Drachen Armet (head AF1) and Wyrm Armet (head AF2) for advanced healing effects. The flies go down hard and fast, and that was before the 2h buff. I haven't tried it since the buff.

Dragoon is a badass since the 2h buff two weeks ago, especially against flying mobs. I've seen lowly double thrust on new Dragoon levellers breaking 400 in the early 30's. They also boosted Penta Thrust from 75% damage x5 hits to 100% damage x5 hits so it can do some pretty decent damage in endgame camps against flies, puks, and birds.

if you would have read the other comments, he said he was in full AF for the video.
I think he is subbing blm, cause its the faster spell that blm have. /war is good, but not for soloing. Better to have a /mage to get a beautiful healing breath when needed.

I finally hit 75 some days ago. I celebrate it with my wyvern Lumiere and bought me a little gift, a Wyvern Helm. Going to merit party for Angon and Strafe (1 merit point already in bank :D) for all future drg on Bismarck server who have question, ask Shadowdragon, I am always happy to help :D
I think I'll never say it enough, this video and this song are great!

Heh... well spotted :) Forgotten there were a couple involved who didn't have their AF when we made that.
Anyhoo - the point is, I asked those that did have it to wear their AF for easy identifiablilty :)

now lvl 74 drg XD couldn't play for 3 weeks and I am impatient to finish my lvl up. The only good set possible at this lvl is hydra set. (1M each piece on bismarck)

bah. i see a lot of drg with purple on (even too much full af...) I am lvl 71 and I still wear 3/5 af equip. I wear an Assault Jerkin and barone pants, a lot better than drachen armor. But all good item really come after 70 for drg. I am just impatient to put my hand on some Ares' set parts

Great job! It's really like that for me too... If I can't create party, i solo. I am tired to see people saying those who don't get invite sucks or are not good. It's not true! Dragoon has been a underlooked job, but if you look, they are now a lot of lvl 75 drg. We begin to get some invites. The trick: Do yourself a lot of friends :D

lol, trust me when making a party fails, I ended up soloing most of the time when I was around the 40's. I even sacrificed night's worth of sleep just so I can level at least onces with my job and the worse part is that it was my main. But despite all that I was proud to be it.

2. I got to 75 faster before a redmage friend of mine(he was 60 when i was about 40).

I got Dragoon to level 60.. then invites froze, people even said {No thanks.} when i asked them to pt with me when they checked my job.
Levelling Blue Mage atm, enjoying it more than Dragoon, invites are a bit easier too, just a bit.
