  • Awwww, i feel ya. I just lost my Saint three weeks ago, she was three years old and she had cancer eating out her insides. I loved her more than any other dog ever. So I know how hard it is, these are awesome dogs, and I will never be the same again.

  • I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend. We had to put our dalmatian to sleep on Dec. 31 2004. It was a great loss of my whole family. I do sympathize with you.

  • My Saint was four years old whe he got bone cancer. Just make sure if you get one it isn't inter bred with siblings. This is very important to find out from the breeder!!

Im sure it is in Heaven now as a little angel

and is free to run wild on as many walks

as it likes! And it sounds as if this dog

was much loved at home so at least you

have the lovely little dog an amazing home

and most importantly - an amazing life x

  • sorry for your loss.

  • we're selling my saint bernard because of neighbor problems... im also sorry for your loss... =[

  • sorry to hear that it died=,(,well atleast its probally a saint up there...

  • I had a 200 pound spanish mastiff he passed away a few months back , and now were waiting for are new saint pup to get old enough to take home, it seems the bigger the dog the gentler they get

  • I have never heard about saint bernards having HEALTH ISSUES....seriously THIS IS AN AWESOME ONE!

  • My Saint Bernard had cancer at the age of 8 =(

  • i wanna get one, but do they have bad health issues, and do they shed and droole alot?

  • Not really, she only drools after drinking water or eating, which is normal, and even then they're very thick and slimy... you'll get used to just grabbing a sock or towel or napkin and catching the 'shoe string'

and shedding? nah... haven't really noticed it.

  • can u take the dog for a small jog, or a walk?

i mean im in love with these dogs for being a gentle giants. i might consider buying one

  • yes, they would love a good walk or run. I take mine for a jog all the time. The nice thing about them is that they don't HAVE to get exercised every day, but they'd love if you want to.

  • whats with the health issues of this breed?

my aunt said this a couple of times but i dont see what the problems could be? something about the bone structures in the legs that could cause for trouble?

  • Yes the bones. They need a lot of Ca. I have just seen the official site (in Italian) of San Bernardo.

  • Bernards and other large breeds tend to be especially prone to dysplasia of the hips and elbows. It's a genetic condition and is very painful for the dog. A good way to help is to give the dog plenty of exercise and build up muscles around the joints. Also try and feed them food that has glucosamine (or add it to their favorite one) to lube up the joints.

  • also seems as if it isnt very interested in you. i want a dog who actually would show some affection

  • Shes that way to everyone who ISN'T my mom... she's in love with her owner..

  • Caeloth your St Bernard ROCKS!! =)

  • CUTE DOG

  • if i know saint bernard is the biggest dog

  • what a cute doggy..
