  • why the hell did i come here if i knewt this song was gonna make me sad.....when the day come when my parents and friends leave this earth i pray to GOD that i dont ever come across...cus i just might cry untill theres nothin left to give.....

  • i shall wait another 3 and half year, before I watched this movie with my becoming GF at that time

  • thankyou

  • very good history of anime and music plus some more someone knows the name of this anime?

  • @filipebrito09

    5_Centimeters_Per_Second

  • muito bom a historia deste anime e a musica mais ainda mais alguem sabe o nome desse anime?

  • i cried as girl with this movie...one of my best anime movies i have saw in my life

  • Sometimes, we have to realize that there are certain people who are meant to stay in our heart, but not in our lives. :)

  • hmmm beautiful :)

  • After watching the movie. I learned something: Love can cost your job. Why guys like us do always have to suffer?

    Fuck LOVE.

  • I cried at the end of this movie. Very sad..

  • Just watched Hoshi no Koe... I swear Makoto Shinkai has got to have a trauma related to distance!

  • well, i know it would be a lot easier and faster to use e-mail and texts. but in some ways, letter has more value. it's hand-written and definitely needs more time to reach its destination. But that's what makes letter more special. Things tend to lose their value when they're too easy to get or find.

  • @mirqonte Actually, this anime was based on the time where cell phones and email were uncommon/not available to the general public

  • 秒速5センチメートル

  • this is so touching

what is the title of the song ?

  • @bigoL00140 It's the title of the video...

  • @jpe24524

    thanks :)

  • did she already get married?

  • @13neirad She moved on but he didn't.

  • @13neirad Yes but not Takaki. I fucking hate Akari for not choosing Takaki.

  • @13neirad she is about to get married soon. It mentioned in the last chapter of the movie.

  • I honestly hated the ending. Not the song, the ending.

  • @VagrantWatcher213 Same here... It ruined the masteriece given to us by the 2 previous chapters... It's still great though... just it could be better. Makes you wonder why the hell was poor Kanae's chapter for... Kanae and Takaki will forever be together in my imagination ^.^!

  • I loved the music video of the ending though. It provided a very nice closure to the first and second chapters, and let us understand Akari's and Takaki's relationship more, and how they're connected, and the overwhelming emotions that Takaki feels. The scenes where Takaki always spots Akari at the corner of his eye is so sad, and is a wonderful depiction of how people feel when they think of someone a lot.

  • Geez I love this. Those perfect images from the movie, the heartfelt lyrics, the melodic and hypnotic guitar that flows after each verse, and the acoustic outro. Wow.

  • sniff, the lyrics are lovely, and omg! makes me miss the feeling of loving someone! T_T

  • this song just speaks of ONE MORE CHANCE... ONE MORE TIME with every syllable... XD

a perfect song, for every person out there who wants to experience that one more time... another chance at love :)

  • They didn't really show what the girl went through...just how the boy wasted his life....

  • This song rips out what conflits my soul and sowes them in with his words

  • 秒速5センチメートル面白かった(^-^)/

    でも貴樹くん精神年齢低い!

  • Best Anime, Wonderful Song, Perfect !!

  • what anime is that?

  • @WarpHedgehog 5 centimeters per second

  • 45 idiots watch the video for on only 5 seconds so they press the dislike button!

  • Comment removed

  • for goodness sake stop commenting about the dislikes, they only fuck did it so you would notice them. just enjoy the awesome song/vid.

  • 45 people felt the pain of this song and couldn't handle liking this.

  • This is why i like the internet; i guy can say what he truly feels without worrying about how ppl will view him. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever made. Speaks volumes to just about everyone on the planet. The movie was a masterpiece. You could stop the film anywhere and you'd see a perfect picture. 5 stars.

  • I wish I knew Japanese to understand the deep meaning to this song..

  • after seeing the whole anime i was sad for an entire weekend. after the ending i couldnt take it i looked everywhere on yourtube for the happy ending but came to realize that the flashbacks were the ending of it. very sad emotional and one of the best anime ive seen.

  • The only anime/movie that I actually cried on and am proud to admit it.

  • @LigerGx Proud to admit it's the only one? Or only one you're proud to admit?

  • @Anakite It's the only one that has made me cry so far.

  • @LigerGx then I challenge you to watch Clannad haha. If you make it through the whole thing without shedding a tear then you win free internet :)

  • @JewelrNC16 I've seen Clannad and After Story, they were close to making me shed a tear but no dice till 5 centimeters per second.

I have 5 cm/ps and Clannad series and Angel Beats as my top 3 currently.

  • why the hell is it so freaking sad why cant he get the girl at the end :(

  • this NEARLY made me cry...

    and I never cry... *sniff*

  • Why no lyrics?

  • Perfect

  • I would have preferred this instead of the ending they gave us...

  • i love japan. they make cartoons and comic books that can make you cry. has the US ever done that? or any other country? nope. do american songwriters still make beautiful songs like this? nope? hats off to japan!

  • i love japan. they make cartoons and comic books that can make you cry. has the US ever done that? or any other country? nope. do american songwriters still make beautiful songs like this? nope? hats off to japan!

  • Why I have the necessity of replay it one more and one more time :C

Maybe waiting for one more chance?

  • If you know a little japanese, you can tell that near the end of the video, around 4:34, you can see one of the characters writing 大丈夫 (daijoubu), which means something along the lines of being OK or being alright (Like for example, you can ask someone if they're okay by asking "Daijoubu?" and they can say yes using the same word. "Daijoubu.") In the context of this song and this movie, it's one of the most heartbreaking flashes of something I've seen in a film.

  • not sure but FYI they have this Movie With english subtitles and its pretty good.....though really freaking depressing

  • camille I still miss you sometimes...

  • @marcopaggot I am with you pal..I feel the same way.

  • oh damn! this guy is like a reflection inside of me...first love, loving someone for years even as those years you've didn't meet each other. and now the one you love already has serious relatiosnship. oh my...i cried over and over, as my fingers keep me click 'reply' again and again. doh!

  • simply the most pure love that i have never seen

  • 어릴 적 추억은 추억으로 끝나야 한다는

  • Makoto Shinkai captures everything that I have been going through. Even in the age of internet, cellphone, I still cannot have the same speed as the all the important people in my life. Everybody moves at different speed, and direction. All we have is the brief moment by chance. Once it crossed, we might not even meet again. First love, crush, best friend, college life, struggle with family stuff. Everything .......

  • This movie was truly one of the saddest movies ever created. It totally destroyed the inside of me, and left me depressed. I feel sorry for that guy though. If i was him, i would die from all that suffering that he went through.

Anyways, i'll make sure to remember this film for the rest of my life...

  • @266sasuke Oh I feel the same way...

I´ve seen the first episode YEARS ago and somehow without any reason it came to my mind today and I watched the other two episodes just now.

I feel so empty... yet it is one of the best animes I´ve ever seen!

  • how the hell is this sad..

  • @kevin4free have to watch the movie to get it lol

  • @realloser1 oh ok

  • in the end the two children got back together, which is a pathetic scene

  • @elflegolas2622 Interesting, why do you think that?

  • @kokeshigirl101 in the movie the grown up boy and girl failed to be together although they love each other. it's a good movie.

  • @elflegolas2622 Now I get it, thanks for explaining :) I haven't had a chance to watch the entire movie so I didn't understand what you meant by 'pathetic'.

  • Comment removed

  • now that my first love ended bitterly too, I can relate to this song better. Wish I could go back and have one more time, one more chance.....

  • Heartbroken distance....

  • it must be train curse...

  • Great song before the movie, but the context just puts this song over the edge...

  • Today plum-trees started bloom. Why I am so sad? Because of Byousoku? Because of smell?

    I don't cry... Don't cry... *demonical sobbing* ,_,

  • another time, another space we'll meet again.

  • sad

  • fav 4ever !!!

  • Watching this movie always makes me sad, but it also gives me the feeling to do something, like right now, that I should'nt wait forever, because before I know it, it would be too late already.

  • =´(

  • กระทืบไลค์อ่ะ

  • SAKURA is special for the Japanese.

  • the song is not so good is ok

the part that make it god is the story to it

  • @TheLubuKing The song is written by a legendary Jap Folk singer about his GF who died in an earthquake. It has a lot of meaning behind it. That tied with the story compliments each other.

  • @TheDarksterZane is this true??

  • This is so F..... Sad... one thing hits me. couldn't they just show up in each other's house... Dont tell me they dont know where their lover's parent's live.

  • @Diguize When they where young they lived to far away from eachother...and as time went by they drifted even further an further apart. By the time they had grown up to much time had already past. Even though this is a EFFING sad movie, it's one of my absolute favourites. I remember trying to keep my cool through the entire movie but by the end I was just crying rivers. But I guess that's what makes this such a great film.

  • 45 personas no saben apreciar la buena musica

  • if you pay close attention to the 3 stories, in the end the whole tale isn't as sad as it seems...........

  • you need to watch this anime on Blu-ray.If you dont ,you regret it.

  • @osuumann I can't even get this as a dvd over here. Sometimes I hate living in sweden )=

  • i love it!!! >w<

  • Geez, they should have just used Facebook. There's really no need for the sad ending. Just saying.

  • @Lexman00 I lol'd so hard to this, that i ended up crying

  • @Lexman00

wish facebook was invented in their time ^^ according to wikipedia the era was set during cellphones & social media are not yet popular and advance so its not their fault that they did become a couple loL!

  • @Lexman00 IMO, it wasn't a sad ending. I mean, they finally got to watch the cherry blossoms together. :)

  • @Lexman00 Dude, Cherry Blossom was set in the Early Eighties, Cosmonaut in the Early Ninties, and by 5cm Per Second, it was already 2008. It is very possible that Akari had already forgotten about Takaki by then, as she only remembers him when she finds her letter to him in 5 Centimeter. Also, The top Social network in Japan is Not Facebook, it's Mixi.jp

Not Hating, Just Saying = )

  • 寂しさまぎらすだけなら、誰でもいいはずなのに、星が落ちそうなよるだから、自分をいつわれない

"If it's just to stave off loneliness, anyone should do the trick. But tonight the stars seem so close that they'll fall from the sky, and I simply can't deceive myself."

This line gets me every time~

  • I have been always looking for your figure...so sad and unbearable, how much love must it be to complete the song.

  • remember when ya could give the star ranking on here, 0-5 star ranking, why they take that away?

  • @DisIsMe1983 so people wouldn't judge the vid at first glance when a vid had, say, 3 stars; no one would look at that vid

  • @DisIsMe1983 'Cause Youtube's stupid :( I miss the star rankings too, but no amount of stars could even begin to rate this song what it deserves. *sigh*

  • look my vids !

  • I didn't even know what they were saying

    and I cried.

  • @UsernamesTaken18

the power of true music. not Lady Gaga/Justina Beaver crap that plays on the radios now.

  • this anime make me remind me my girl.........

  • When the movie was about to end I wondered why I haven't cried yet and then THIS played. OMG. Tears welled up in less than 3 seconds.

  • @kerosenegoat Sooooooooooooooooooo true!!!

  • I really wish I could have been in Japan for the promo of this movie! Makoto Shinkai is a pure genius, his films never fail to reduce me to a bawling idiot :')

  • Forgot to mention that I totally get goosebumps EVERY time i listen to this song

  • This song totally made up for the sad ending of that story. God I love this song!!! it's so amazing!!!!

  • Each time I listen to this OST, I recall the feelings I had when I watch 5cms. BEST OST EVER !!

  • After i watched this animation, i felt like i knew nothing about the film and all the meaning it innately represents. I wish i could sit down with the person that created the story and watch it together with him/her because I want to know everything. Gosh, i yearn to know more! >:0

  • @grubTuber there are books and reviews.. i felt the same way you did.. i thought i knew everything and was guessing on how the movies would end. felt very confident in myself... but the reality of life hit me hard....

  • @grubTuber , if wanted know more, just know this name - Makoto Shinkai. And watch His Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko (She and Her Cat), Tooi Sekai (Other Worlds), Neko no Shuukai and Egao. It`s his short stories, 5-25 minutes.

  • @ZeTus58 and @oakcliff621

cool thanks for the input guys, i`ll check out the sources you`ve recommended.

right now i`m actually more interested in finding the tabs for the song, actually i`m just really absorbed by all aspects of the animation lol.

  • Espectacular, simplemente espectacular :)

Una de las mejores peliculas que he visto, sin duda.

  • I don't get it..

  • @DasUberHero watch anime "5 centimeters per second" dude

  • the best song ever.

  • i want to cry but :(

  • The story illustrated a reflection of reality. For some people it is easier to let go of their first love, others still holds on to the burden of lost love. The characters really represented difference between personalities. Akari understand and moved on, but those sweet memories will always remain. For Takaki drove in regrets because he lost the letter and he didn't take action to show his feelings again. I think we all are in someway similar to these characters like how we made our decisions.

  • @CommunityImages It's been for me about 7 years, and I still at times reminisce the first innocent love that I had. Those were good times for me.

  • T_T

  • @dians12 TT_TT

  • watch carefully from 3:40 is there that women with glasses sleeping near him?

    sad... awful joke called life

  • Comment removed

  • este tipo de peliculas dejan huella... Y ya si la banda sonora es buena ni te cuento!

  • im going to start to cry....

  • Sigh, I don't know if I'll just repeat something somebody said... This is the first time I've cried at a movie... I usually don't like romance at all. But this is something else, I just can't find the right words to describe it, one thing I know... This is so realistic it makes you cry, how can somebody not like it?!

  • @Swarabi Were the same ..... I don't really like romance stories but this is a different case.... this anime is so touching , sad , and depressing....

  • How can you possibly dislike this?! Jeez. This movie is in my opinion one of if not the greatest animated film to ever be created. I don't think I've ever had any movie strike such an emotional chord with me. Makoto Shinkai is a genius. This movie is just beautiful in every aspect.

  • It is just me or this video has one original scene at the end? In the movie when the trains are passing we have the adult Takaki waiting on one end. But in this video his younger version is the one waiting, and when the trains are gone, she is also there waiting for him.

  • I love this movie but it pains me when they let something so beautiful die. That might have been the point but cynicism shouldn't be what dictates our lives. People should fight for what they had. This might be realistic but there are stories of real love lasting through time and distance because they have tried.

  • wtf? i'm 23 and i cried like a little girl..

why is this so fuckin sad? .. TT

  • @fix3p I think that we're not teenagers makes it more poignant. After all by this time we've built up a substantial amount of regrets. I feel like I'll appreciate this even more as I get older.

  • @capostatus64 yeah

and u just recognize how realistic this story is

do u know whats interesting? i started to behave like Tono, i mean so laid-back

  • @fix3p Same here. It's funny how I would see a guy who behaves this way and think "man that guys cool and he's got no worries". Now I wish I could be a little more emotional. I mean, I'm not exactly a stump who can't feel anything but I know I can't fall into a beautiful relationship as easily as I used to. Ah well.

  • @capostatus64 Yeah falling in love like a crazy may bring so much pain and sufferings cause nothing lasts forever. Its sad but the older u get the more clear-headed and rational u become

  • @fix3p

It's so sad because Masayoshi Yamazaki lost his girlfriend in an earthquake in Japan. You can feel the longing he has for her in this song and in another named Passage.

  • @solabanivla

    proof link pls

  • @fix3p I can send you a link but everything is in Japanese. Can you read Japanese?

  • @solabanivla google got this crazy thing called translator

    so it wouldn't be difficult

  • @solabanivla u mean he lost his girlfriend from the current japan earthquake? just like 1 week ago? where'd did u hear this news?

  • @thecowa29 not the recent earthquake, the Kobe earthquake in '95. However, I have to write fix3p back because I may have typed that a little too soon. I lived in Japan for a year and found this song and the other called Passage by him and really liked it. My Jap GF at the time told me the story and a lot of my middle aged students confirmed it so I assumed it to be true. fix3p asked me to prove it via link and I found quite a few, but all of them were blogs claiming Yamazaki said...

  • @thecowa29 what he said at a concert etc. The people who do not believe the rumor claim that Yamazaki wrote the song in '93 or '94, thus it would be impossible that he wrote it for a GF who died in '95. I don't think the real issue is when he wrote it but whether or not he really had a GF who died in the quake. That is very hard to prove as Yamazaki is very closed off in regards of his personal life. There were rumors he got married in April 2010 but even that information can't be proven.

  • @fix3p because you have a heart my friend...

  • @fix3p me too brother, me too. worst part is i'm in the same situation as him.

  • @fix3p I think, it's because of it's very special and very realistic kind of tragedy and its awesome absolutely fitting music. It's amazing.

  • @Ki12B but i thought none of films would ever make me cry.. and actually i never cried while watching a movie, but this anime

    it totally destroyed me

  • @fix3p me too ;)

  • @fix3p Yeah... I cried too and you know what? I'm "male"

  • @fix3p Your not alone, I'm 25 and i cried too

  • T______________T

  • CUZ IMA MAN AND I CRIED LIKE WOMEN JEEZ

  • I always rewatch it many times.

  • If your watching this nd you havent watched the movie yet... i suggest u go watch it

*warning: even if your a guy... you will cry xD

  • @255aznboi so true xDD

  • @255aznboi how do you know that? Q__Q

  • oh god... i cried again with this video..

  • one of my favorite anime directors of all time.. this was a masterpiece that makes me cry everytime i watch it.. one of the most stunning and breathtaking animes i have ever watched

  • So difficult to find animes that look this breathtaking smfh

  • @yobiwolrd07 I agree with you.

  • น่าเอาเพลงนี้มาแปลไทยจริงๆ

  • ;_; o man

  • The anime is beautiful..I haven't watched the entire thing but from what I've read here it ends sadly. Gbad1234 wrote something like you should live your life pretending to be happy even though you may miss the one you love. It kinda hit home for some reason...it really did

  • Seize the day... Fucking grab it by it's throat and don't let it get away...

  • don't tell me I'm the only person that cried when I first saw this... ._.

  • The Japanese language is such a beautiful language.

Compare an English To a Japanese love song like this one, English is just a Comedy.

  • @YourTheBlame While English is not the best language for love songs, Japanese aint better. While this song is beautiful and i love it, it still has that rough samurai character to it.
