The nostalgia from all of this, coupled with the sheer amount of effort that went into making it (both the music and the videos) was so intense that I came and started farting.
Why couldn't have I been alive during THOSE TIMES?! Why couldn't I have THOSE GAMES when I'm a kid?! God damn it, I was born to f***ing early!! Instead I have to grow up with mediocre, unoriginal, non-nostalgic "games"! Why does everyone at my school love these and say that these games are pieces of s***?! WHY?! >:'(
I missed out on these games in my childhood so I've only experienced them just recently... It makes me sad that I still haven't finished some of them ;_;
Final Fantasy VI, Earthbound, Legend of Mana and Chrono Trigger: I am going to complete these games as if it's the last thing I'll ever do!
A love letter to, arguably, gamings greatest generation. This is the most beautiful thing i've seen in a while, and 20 minutes of my life very well spent.
Someone once said "Every generation is the worst generation". Although Halo and Gears Of War may be bonafied pieces of crap, a select few of toady's games can be just as memorable and well made as those of yesteryear.
i droped some tears... it's just to much emotions for me to handle. whoever made this is genius. but i miss breath of fire, yoshi's island, dragon quest, donkey kong, seiken densetsu 3, super metroid etc
We need some Super Metroid and Megaman X up in here and this will be beyond epic! Man I love this music! Great remixes, great graphics/animations, and way to tie them all together!
someone needs to make a custom rom of this, where you play through every single game as every character ever and fight multiple bosses at once. Shit would be super badass
the....memories.....the fun....the joy.....im speechless......i literally cried from 6:00 onward games will never be as good as in the super nintendo era..
Oh, Nostalgia. I played lots of these games. Some when they were released, some years later. So I could view them from many different periods of my life: When I was a boy, when I was a teen, when I was a grown up, able to afford the latest gaming equipment. I prefer those lovely pixels over any HD millions of polygons. 30x48 is enough to express emotions. Modern games aren't bad, they are just lacking the love. Thanx to emulators and stuff the old hardware may die but the games will live forever
It's like, to me, I know these games, these songs, the graphics, storyline, all very well, but the reality is those who used to play these games back in the day don't remember fully or care any more. Time definitely goes on, and experiencing life makes these memories somewhat pointless, but there's always times of being on the computer at 1 am to re-live and discover where you came from and how things got to where they are today.
Too many RPGS, too many songs from the same games. Not enough variety. The NES medley was more balanced, far superior. I am so disappointed, because I like SNES music better than NES music.
I want to say something that will do this amazing video justice, but I can't find the right words, suffice it to say, this was SNES music nerd nirvana.
I found a butt-ton of SNES games at a garage sale when I was eight years old and begged my mother to buy them for me. The cartridges were Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 2 and 3 (IV and VI), Secret of Mana, and Romancing Saga 2.
........count me in as another weeping eye for Terra and Marle.
This and part 1 have to be some of the best videos I've ever seen on Youtube...I've watched them tons of times so far, and I still remember playing these games for the first time...even now I have a hard time holding back tears at 4:50 on this video because the song just that moving. It's really very hard to find video game music like this anymore.
Same here. Although I have many more points that make my eyes wet. So many awesome memories are connected with the music. It's hard to find something like that nowadays.
Don't get me wrong, they do their best but sometimes I feel like the 16-bit era had just the best video game music of all times, of all times!
*cries* I wish I could relive this era as I am now and have true appreciation for the good that the SNES had with all it's great games...unlike then, gameplay comes second bananna to the actual game these days. I could never appreciate these games back then, I was just a kid...I appreciate the past for what it made and what it was...epic games were made back then unlike now. I'll miss those childhood days, I just wish I was smarter back then.
It scars me to think i'll never live through this era again.
It hurts me to think i've forgotten everything about those games.
It pains me to think in 10 years time, someone will post a similar video, however it will contain music from Halo,Gears of War, etc, and currently-10-year-olds will think of it as "Nostalgiac" and "beautiful".
Yea that really does suck.. but our games focused more on story and sound than graphics, whereas graphics and destruction seem to be the key selling point in games these days. (also I know nico users wont make a medley for god of war and halo, so the video wont have ungodly production value)
@glenny126 Take pride in the fact that you lived through that era, and that despite the times that has come and gone, these many classics are still vastly enjoyable games that, despite their age, are still wonderful experiences today, albeit treated as retro, they nevertheless shine.
thats what they did in the NES version, but the Pollyanna (or Home Sweet Home if you like) did just fine :P guess they didn't want to repeat what they did last time.
Really great job and mixed together some of the best songs and even more praise for using Chrono Trigger the most (Love the music in that game so much) really makes me want to play a lot of those other games again too.
This may well be personal favorites of the author, people, and thats probably why there is no metroid, soul blazer or donkey kong. i dont know, but i dont care, ill just go with whatever makes the coolest, and i think this was awesome!
No Super Metroid? Stop humping FF6 and Chrono Trigger composer. Good arrangement though. Now to receive the thumbs down <_<, but seriously, no SM = FAIL!
