  • phish saved my life

  • the intro piano is AMAZING!!!

  • well thats just your opinnnneeooon maaaan

  • I love that bad note on the piano at 4:47. Thats fucking priceless. This was such a train wreck but I still love it.

  • Those harmonies are awful!

  • @tyleryesta1 Articles citing Phish as ever being known for their singing and harmonies, please. You must be thinking of the Beach Boys, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, surely not Phish.

  • @phildd0t well thats just your opinnneeeeoooonn maaan

  • @ssslayer1231 the dude

  • so funny to watch the choir rock out at 4:03!

  • 3:01 seguay right into a nice Harpua!

  • The good old days ,,,,,.

  • this is straight fire :D

  • What other band would even dare attempt Bohemian Rhapsody?? That's what so fuqing great.. and while they can't hit Freddy's and Brian's vocal highs their instruments are perfect. I love the crowd freaking out at the 4:02 clip.. Lolz..

  • i like how in every phish video where they cover a song some fanboy is always like "trey a better guitarist than _____? no way your crazy". What they dont realize is that you could fill in the blank with any name and trey would be a better guitarist.

  • @wharfrat89 the only thing i would say is hendrix, but ive never seen him live obviously and hes gone, so yea treys the best

  • Bravo!!

  • they may not match the vocals 100% but trey shreds that guitar solo perfectly!!!

  • HOW CAN ANYONE DISLIKE THIS ? i FEEL SORRY FOR YOU. i PITY YOUR MISERABLE , UNHAPPY , NIT-PICKIN' LIFE .THANKYOU VERY LITTLE.

  • @Mr31760 Easy killer...

  • @nazaxprime LOL!!!! Seriously, this isn't life and death.

  • @Slikrik1212

    :O

    Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • diiiiIIIIAAAAAAAAiiiiieeee

  • this song became popular again in the early 90's because of the movie Wayne's World. Party on Paige, Party on Phish

  • this looked sooo awesome

  • I bet this was the fucking best... you people bashing this have never been to a Phish show. If you have then you were that phrat douche who drank too much beer, mixed with Zanex, and ended up puking in the bathroom while getting pissed on. Vulgar? Na, that's a phish show.

  • also love Phish...vocals are different in Phish which is why many of their covers sound off. Phish has their own sound, and I'm happy with that...extremely happy with that.

  • when the choir grooves.......omg i dig i dig wish i were there in the choir!

  • 66 people play the skin flute

  • They may not hit all the notes, but freddy hit the man pipe

  • @sunnidayz13 lol

  • I love Phish but this is a pretty piss poor cover.

  • @saskew77 Get over it.

  • This is about having fun...not about delivering the perfect cover! It seems like some people are just trying to make mathematical sense out of a poem or a joke.

  • 1996, it was still our beloved Boston Garden. We were making the rafters bounce. Great night, thanks for posting this!

  • There is a difference between not hitting every note and missing a ton of notes. The latter is unforgivable.

  • U guys are trollz phish is the best!

  • I miss old reliable's tone. But then again his new Ocelot Doc is def right on the money :)

  • Honestly if you take the time to get off the couch and go see Phish you will see that they are THE MOST TALENTED BAND playing right now... I love phish and will forever so if im a dumb phake phan in your eyes than you need to chill out bro Its obvious you guys need some love PHISH RULES!!!!

  • terrible!

these "phans" obviously have no musical sense or ability

these guys are a glorified teenage trash band

    they really suck

    the most boring act ever

    YAWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jojojigaboo Boring? your fucking stupid. let me guess. your a douchey little teenager who listens to fucking lil wayne. Dont watch these guys if you dont like them. You know nothing about phish anyway.

  • Possibly phish's greatest cover!

  • Fricking awesome vid, dude! Phish phucking rules!

  • Well hat's off to Phish for giving it a try. Certainly rough but they get the feel of it across. As for people having a go at Queen for not doing it live, there's no way that people would go to a Queen concert & not expect to hear this so obviously they had to do it. However, they realised very early on that the operatic sections wouldn't sound good live so they were very open about it & left the stage. Don't know where the lip-syncing comments come from, Queen always just walked off openly

  • Do you have any video of the DWD from 12-31-96?

  • WOW! I think when the main break starts around 4:00 i think the roof was about to blow off the place!! What a hard song to pull off live!

I agree, they weren't the best singers, but so what, it's live and they nailed the instrumental parts!

  • That Choir must have been thinking "These are some terrible singers... but this is fun and crazy..." Props for Page to even try to sing it.

  • For the critics... how many times did Queen perform the ENTIRE Bohemian Rhapsody live, including the a capella intro and middle sections? None! Zero!

For proof of this, go to Wikipedia and search for 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. There you will find a section called 'Live Performances', which explains what Freddie did instead of the a capella intro and middle. They played a tape! Give Phish a break! At least they tried!

  • Horrible vocals, embarrassing for them all.

  • @gmreszel You obviously don't know phish, keep on trollin, man.

  • wow thats badass thats one hard fucking song to pull off live. You realize queen didn't even do it live? Well they did but it was done with tape they lip syned the part where they sing as if they are a choir.

  • I get chills every time i watch that and im a huge phish cant wait for the fall tour have to step into gamehendge again this year

  • I agree with rrtierney! You've got to learn to separate the people ( who you only know of their public persona ) from their music. Musicians are real people with flaws and short comings just as the rest of us. So all the critics; When Rolling Stone calls your band the most significant band of a decade then you'll be recognized by me to talk shit. Say what you will about Phish or Queen. They both rawk!!

  • I miss old reliable's tone. But trey's new, new guitar (just got it in this month) I think has the best tone since. Just my opinion.

  • @MarcoGreenberg The action on it is lower and he seems more comfortable with it than the first two PL customs. Just saw (more importantly heard) Dear Creek and was looking at it thinking it was either a new axe or the light was just bouncing off of the 2nd custom in a strange fashion making it appear darker. and part of the tone difference is simply the new way Paul has the signals split between the single Fender reverb head to the stereo cabs and the mesa cab. I still love his ibanez.

  • imagine how stoked the choir was.

  • @ShawnyMartin It just sucks it seems they had their key right, it sounds like they are singing in a different than the band by an accident of preparation. But it doesn't make this any less amazing! I'm not nitpicking here. Phish phoooor...ev...verrrrr!

  • I think the are absolutely freaking fantastic!!! Way to go Phish!!!!

  • Phish is the greatest band in the world if i had a time machine i would stop by here

  • I think Brian May would dig Trey's go at this

  • @LCPStud. I am a registered conservative, married, with child, taxpayer and LOVE Phish. Saw them at Toyota and actually camping out both nights at Alpine in August. I have saud before - with complete respect - that Phish is the greatest cover band of all time. They take a song, put their spin on it, and keep the feel of the original. Love their original stuff as well.

Paige can sing, but Freddie Mercury is - well - Freddie Mercury. Think it is a great version.

  • phish and the dead could really jam

  • i love when the back up singers headbang to this! made my day

  • I like Phish but these guys can't sing for shit...

  • @LCPStud well you obviously don't know what you're talking about

  • @msrysignals

I don't have to be a music major to know horrible singing when I hear it.

Sorry I had the impertinence to criticize Phish, I know there are dorks out there like you who believe they can do no wrong. They are awesome musicians but in all the shows I went to, I heard first hand that they are not great singers.

Sorry to rain on your CD collection, but they are JUST A BAND. Not the 2nd coming of Christ. A great band but JUST A BAND!

Plus the bass player is a pedophile.

  • @LCPStud hahaha, you REALLY have no idea what you're talking about

  • @LCPStud A pedophile? Really? So now you're just going to make stuff up?

  • @LCPStud They're actually great singers, but I think this song was our of their ranges - it's very very high and tough to do.

  • @romanerdstrom yes and knowing phish they probably learned this song the day of the show like they did with the dark side of the moon set on 11/2/98.

  • @LCPStud They are actually not at all bad singers, I think the issue is that the song is WAY TOO HIGH and most likely out of their ranges. For you to say "can't" as a blanket statement shows perhaps that you've not heard much of their music or live stuff.

  • wow.. it was that one soprano that ruined the choir. Happens with every choir xD

  • ok i must say nice effort but give it up cause you totally screwed up gawddddd

  • Phish can do anything!

  • go mr. coleman!

  • anyone who denies this is a phucking idiot or snob

  • man, talk about the good ol days.....

  • only phish can get a crowd to react like that.

  • @mennopower

That's mainly because hippie jam band audiences are mostly stoned off their asses the whole time.

Halfway into a Phish show they could put down their instruments and start playing XBox on stage for 20 minutes and the crowd would still be acting like it was the coolest thing they ever saw.

    Hippies fucking suck.

  • @LCPStud

cool and REAL hippies are alright

these fans are dumbasses and this band and their dumb phake phans suck

    no talent shit heads!

    i hate them! : (

  • this is awesomee. brought a smile to my face. classic, brilliant phish...

  • hahah this is awesome

  • PAGE!!!

  • @redoctoberff i agree

  • isn't the point of music to have fun and entertain people, or at least yourself? i think phish kicks asssss in this aspect. they obviously have a ball everytime they're up on stage, and this is no exception. i mean, look at all those balls on stage. :]

  • sent shivers down my soine

  • trey ripping it up

  • Awesome Video.

Good cover of a tough song.

The Choir was a nice touch.

  • phuck yeah! this was on my birthday!

  • so i guess so was every other epic set/song phish played on New Year's

  • @globalraverx.........true

  • Epic indeed... Phish rocks

  • lmao epic

  • what a great live-phish moment this must have been --- I love this band, and this must have been an epic moment.

  • Abso-f'n-lutely!!!! Just one word....HUGE!

  • Comment removed

  • neither is your grammar dumbass

  • Gosh, is there something more boring than these self-declared "true-fans"?!? If you don't like it, fine, stop and change for something different, but please don't try defending your Idol - Mercury probably would have laughed his arse of in enjoyment about that hilarious performance.

  • To all you haters,Fuck Off!!!!!

  • one has to give it to them ... the fact that they cover songs like this..and the choir in the back...it must have been a good trip that night

  • Great cover of a great song from the famous band, Queen.

  • Comment removed

  • guys they dont give a shit if their singing isnt great on this song. they know it wont be. but they are having fun and playing a great song. thats what fish is about. good music and good FUN

  • What's all the ruckus about? Obviously Freddy isn't singing with Phish.. So Paige and Trey can't sing every note, not a big deal. If music is all about hitting every note then I don't believe there would be a single successful band out there. I have a feeling Mr. Mercury would think this is awesome and fun. I do

  • @calebbrow C'mon bro...we're not talking about "hitting every note" here. It would have been nice if they'd have hit 50%! Harmonies were laughable they were so bad...but vocals are always a little Phishy with these guys...love 'em anyway!!

  • i love how trey lets everyone he's ready to rock at 3:53 with the devil horns

  • totally wouldve never noticed that haha. thanks for pointing it out! Soooo good

  • classic

  • clearly vocally there is no freddy mercury in this band and you have to give queen some respect. however, phish is one of the few bands that i feel can truly cover almost anything . and the fact of the matter is, when i saw ratdog and the allman bros cover revolution by the beatles for their encore i went nuts! I imagine i would probably be having a good time if i was at this show and they busted this one out.

  • there is no freddie mercury around in music today. phish is my favorite band ever! that being said in my opinion there is no voice better in rock music than freddie mercury. apologies to robert plant and jim james.

  • and to add.....trey does Mr. May pretty proud

  • you need to give these guys credit. it may not be a thrilling cover, but thats what's great about them. every single one of their performaces is unique, and you never know what theyre going to do next. no other band has even come close to covering this song, and id say they did a rather listenable job of it. thats what respect for music is all about.

  • bad night for me. My girlfriend dumped me the night before.

  • Apparently not only for you. These guys are just awful

  • Comment removed

  • its so sad, your girl living you and this morons singings...

    sorry bro...

  • phish is better than your band, you lose.

  • @rrtierney

... That statement is correct no matter what 'other band' you got!

  • @rrtierney this cover is never good like my cover of Bohemian Rhapsody ..and i'm a principiant..

  • I like these guys but they trashed a classic. I'm sorry but if you cant hit the notes then leave it alone. What an abomination. Go listen to Queens version live and see what a difference there is. Like night and day.

  • Totally right

  • no one gives a shit. they play good times bad times too. everyone knows they can't hold a note to plant, but it really doesn't matter. it was a fun time, sorry if you can't relax and enjoy

  • haha nice excited for festival 8

  • trey gives the fist pump to the quier? thats the shittt

  • even queen couldn't pull this off on live setting.

    phish can.

  • During shows it doesn't sound out of key like it does from tapes or video. People are usually on something that takes away from their perception. But that Bowie from Camden 09 certainly made people do a double take lol. Sometimes if you listen to a whole show after 3 ro4 songs the singing sounds "normal". :)

  • I was in the crowd for this one.... trust me, we did'nt care that they were singing a bit off-key! This was one of the most fun nights I've ever had.

  • Woah, look at all those balls and balloons on stage. haha. But I guess they're used to it! Having to dodge them while they're playing.

  • people have to realize that they know they cant hit the notes, there going out there to have fun and give the audience a good time. Im sure they want to do well but at the end of the day, them and the audience do not really care if they hit a certain note or not.

  • Fun, such a great band.

  • Not bad, I'm sure the audience was enjoying it.

  • everyone should not criticize the vocals..this is one of the hardest songs to sing live. not even queen could do it, they used prerecorded parts when they played it live.this is really phish singing it

  • phish always struggles with their harmonies. You can tell when they've really practiced hard and enough to nail them. This is a good attempt and I always give them slack because their effort outshines the performance enough to enjoy it for what it is.

  • dude just shut up

  • Phish DOES have great vocalists, first some imperfections you hear are from the sub-par recording, second the version you are used to by Queen has been mixed in a studio. This is better, trust me, than what Queen would do live.

  • everyone knows that Phish don't have the best vocalists. But their musical talent is unbelievable! That's why they are so good! People need to shut the fuck up and figure out what good music really means..

  • Phish dosent have the best vocals??? You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

  • you're either being sarcastic or you're just a HUGE phan who only listens to phish. Either way that's cool, but I can't tell lol

  • not to shabby i enjoyed it

  • nice

  • you have no idea what your talking about you stupid closed minded and everyone is would be much more stupid for listening to anything eles that you conjure up in that pathetic little head of yours, you'd be better off dead.

  • haha...you are a dope!

  • What did the phish fan say when he ran out of drugs? a: Uh man, do you think this sucks?

  • It's hard to sing like Freddie.

  • I definately enjoy phish and this is a great queen song. So which do you choose, truth or cover?

  • it's a joke cover, not serious at all.

plus they were probably high as shit.

  • that is a weak ass defense. I like phish but don't say stuff like that to defend when they're singing off key a bit. i like it anyways but it isn't perfect

  • critics... this song may not appeal to anyone who isnt baked, but it isn't really supposed to. If you havent listened to phish while high, you should a) try it or b) not trash their music

  • that's not very accurate.

i mean, i love phish and i love weed and i like smoking weed while listening to phish, but i think they're talented enough even for sober ears.. i could listen to them sober and still love them.

btw sorry for possible grammar mistakes i may had, as i am currently blitzed out of my fucking skull.

  • man these guys suck. why oh why did i go on tour instead of college. oh well. at least i saw the country ( and YEM about a million times).

  • I don't remember it sounding so bad either - at least not when we rehearsed it! Was in the choir and had a blast with the guys. They were nice guys and we had fun. I do think that was the coolest New Year's Eve I've had!

  • @vjax1 That is sooo cool man!!! I bet you had a blast on the same stage with the boys. I've met Trey and Mike and you're right, they are the nicest guys.

  • I don't remember it sounding this bad at all. I just rember dancing next to this hot hippie chick that I kinda fell in love with (just one of those quick encounters that happen.) I somehow ended up in a clear spot with a good view of the stage.

Phish in their prime (though maybe not at this moment!) Check out the rest of this bad-ass concert.

The 96 Holliday run represents some of the greatest live Phish out there. The crowd was still the early good ol' family peeps. Good times!!!

  • what if u were there?

  • i was and it blew !!!

  • allright there, all you expert- critics. its awesome just by the fact they did it. i have live queen versions where freddy chooses lower notes and they play the choir part thru the p.a. off the studio version. i must inquire......are you still having fun? readiculus

  • This song is out of their vocal range, why would they pick this?

  • because "it doesnt relaly matter". its about having fun bruh loosen your collar.

  • Ease up guys. They probably got to practice this one time before the show. It's for fun, not to impress anyone. It does sound like shit mostly, but it was still alot of fun to be there. I will say this was the worst New Year's show of their's that I have been to. Boring as hell. This was at least a fun highlight if nothing else. Not an easy song for anyone to cover.

  • omg what an awful voice on these guys

  • phish is awesome but not so much at this song.

  • its ashame they cant sing bc they are great at their instruments

  • Phish is great! I gave the keyboardest (singer in this song lol) a ride in my cab, when they had just got big we were talking about me seeing Phish at the Red Rocks their 1st show there, and Paige the keyboardest gave me a free pass to that nites Red Rocks show, he also gave me free parking, and a backstage pass, when I got there my name was written in ink the last name on a typewritten list the guy didn't forget me in the rush before the show Paige is a great guy!!!!

  • Lol I love how people do not understand that this is a cover. Obviously it is not from queen so stop comparing it to queens vinyl version. This is Phish, They are a jam band. Personally i think they tore it up. Phamily Phriends and Phish! Give trey some credit he nailed that solo!

  • dude phish is good... at their own shit.... i dunno so much about this song man. this shit sounds butchered.

  • is some horible but is best or jonas brothers

    is the best song ever

  • Oh my god... Is this a serious band? This is seriously the worst version of the song EVER! Even that chinese girl singing it was better... WTF

  • hahaha, if you're not a phanner, you don't get it. please don't write reviews. this video is not for queen fans

  • the most horrible suckage i've ever seen or heard

  • i dunno whoever put disgrace...but you spelled it discrace you are a bad person and a horrible american i hope your mother knows how big of a failure you are dasimon26

  • One more time. Even queen was unable to perform this song live without the aid of piped in vocals and backing instruments. This was a one off that was learned not 24 hours prior to the show, and the instrumentals are near flawless. The vocals are off, but then who in the fuck is going to be able to replicate Freddie Mercury.

  • ....wtf?

  • looool rentrez chez vous les voix de casserol.
