Was für ein Geschenk, diesen großen Sänger-Darsteller so oft erlebt haben zu dürfen! Als Pizarro, als Hans Sachs und als Graf Almaviva in Mozarts "Figaro" ganz besonders unvergesslich! Ein Großer unter Großen - das war damals, in den goldenen Zeiten des Wiener Opernensembles selbstverständlich.

the greatest of all the heldenbaritones. schorr's voice was more beautiful and hotter was a better intepreter. no one ever had such a powerful voice. he could bury an orchestra and still sing the most delicate soft tones. his lieder are fantastic, full of pianissimi and true mezzovoci colors. he studied in italy with stracciari. that's why his italian singing sounds so perfect. he was fluent in italian, of course. ask anyone who heard him. his voice was the absolute best voice of all.
