Well you have to collect those omens and after you have collected a special number of 'em you get a level-up ;)

and its got flame throwers and it looks

Crimsonland for PC is similar to this game and it's wonderful little game and one of it's game modes is similar to the type of the dead where you type words to shoot monsters. I highly recommend you to try Crimsonland
