McCain dosent care about the troops who are getting killed oe injured. He just care about being right about the surge. To say that bringing these young men and women home wasnt important says it all.
I see that you didn't say you were in Iraq or Afganistan.
I don't need a report....I've seen it first hand. Iraqi's want democracy and don't want a Saddam-like regime to take hold. You seem to depend on the views of others from subjective sources, and that make you ill informed
The surge has worked, Iraq is not hopeless.
That's why Congress just voted for the funding without a timetable of redeployment. Sorry to disappoint the crazies hoping and praying for a future of doom and dispair.
What does it matter whether it was Iraq, Afganistan, or Vietnam, or any other war. War is War. The saying that the first thing lost in war is Truth, is correct. You must be still a young man and don't understand this. I had the same type of hype thrown at me as you did. It's not about you, it's about those running this war. They only give you informantion that they want. The real truth always comes out later. Don't make it personal, just look further for the TRUTH.
I am sorry to disagree, but I was also part of the military. You get an understanding of what they want you to understand, and that is that. I have been keeping up with the news now, not from a military point of view, but an observer that has seen both sides. The reports are out, and if you have not seen them, you are not informing yourself correctly. I am not doubting your belief, but there are more facts than you have seen.
The only reason the violence is down in Iraq is because all of the Sunis and Shias survivors are scattered to other countries or separated living in their own areas now. No more mixed neighborhoods are there anymore. Also the Military has made deals with some of the militants to get them to stop fighting with THEM. I wasn't the SURGE, it was the change in areas for the people and DEALS made by the Military.
THe whole "surge" thing is farce. Has it resulted in lower deaths? Yes. Has it moved Iraq any closer to functioning on is own? Of course not. Nd it never will. THe truth is John Mccain has no desire or plan to withdraw from Iraq. IN his mind, like other Neo-cons, we can never withdraw. WHen violence is up they say we can't withdraw because its too violent. WHen violence is down they say we can't withdraw because violence is down and the surge is working. DOes anyone see this besides myself?
McCain is such a tool. He's braindead and will not make a good president. To the guy (or gal) that claimed that the "Not too important" comment is taken out of context is in the same mold of people that don't fully understand the magnitude of what he is saying. He's claiming we should be in Iraq for 100 years, or by 2013...ironically enough in his last year in office.
He's inconsistent as a candidate, he'll be inconsistent as a president.
If Sen. Obama said "That's not too important" when asked about our troops coming home, the media fanfare would've been relentless & voters would've never forgiven him. People continue to make excuses for this senile cunt when this is OUR FUTURE we're talking about! Not some game of shuffleboard on a luxury cruiseliner.
I have alot of respect for McCain as a former veteran and prisoner of war, but this country needs a drastic reversal from the policies instituted during the past 8 years. The big picture is that we are no longer respected by other countries in the world, even by our allies. We are in a long war that could have been won decisively if our current administration handled it better.
I mean, is the surge working? Yes. But what are our troops accomplishing other than better security? Has the point of even sending the surge to allow time for the Iraqi government to work out their differences worked? No. And what is to say that after defeating remnants of Al-Qaeda in Iraq that the former insurgent groups that we wooed over to our side to help fight them (Sunni)won't again turn their weapons on us creating more years bogged down and more lives lost?
Failed strategy, failed foreign policy, failed economy, failed everything and McCain wants us to continue down this road? The Republican party had 8 years to progress this country and utterly failed miserably. Here's to hoping that they WON'T get another 4. Obama 2008
i am in the uk and i can tell u this jerk is gonna win. they run everthing that MATTERS . and most americans are brainwashed in to voting for these idiots.
What world are you people living in. There's absolutely no reason for us to be in IRAQ right now. Okay first we were going to look for Bin Laden, then we were going to look for Saddam, then we were there for weapons of mass destruction, then we were there to deliver democracy, now we're there for the war on terror. Can't you people see what they're doing, it's called COLONIZING...Take the Red Pill people

ITS NOT THAT IMPORTANT TO BRING OUR TROOPS HOME.. THEY SIGNED UP, THERES BEEN NO DRAFT. iF WE NEED TROOPS IN IRAQ THEN WE WILL HAVE TROOPS IN IRAQ. MY DADS BEEN GOING OVER THERE 5 MONTHS A YEAR FOR 4 YEARS AND HES RETIRED!!!!!! QUIT YOUR BITCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It doesn't matter if they signed up or were drafted, the outcome is still the SAME. They were led into a WAR that was MANUFACTURED by the Politicians that wanted WAR. I was a member of another war that was started the same way. The Vietnam WAR. The Politicians USED us and have since forgotten US. There are times when a Country must go to WAR, but we should NOT be led into a WAR for Political purposes amd NOT a REAL danger to this Country. Please don't think this is GOOD for our Country!!!

No, tonchi2a,
I just came back from Iraq and the violence is down because the extremist who commit it, have been thwarted.
Your opinion is based on the unfairly summized position that all Iraqi's are extremist and divisive...and they are not.
Most attacks are from foriegn militants bent of taking control of Iraq, not the magority of Iraqis that been victimized by Saddam for decades.

The surge will only work temporarily. Just like the economic stimulus will only have a temporary effect on the economy.
