  • What an ace intro it gets you straight into it. Love this song.

  • I think level 42 is not only Mark King. Whole band they are all good musicians... In this song i love the way they use back vocals and i love those electric guitar lines in chorus.

  • A terrific song. I have to admit, "Something About You" ( a song I love), was the only tune I'd ever heard from Level 42. After this, I'm going to investigate more of their stuff. The 80's was an awesome decade for music.

  • Totally agree! Curiosity Killed the Cat, Haicut 100, Hue and Cry...awesome times.

  • love this video and the rubik's cube-ness of it all

  • maybe because all in our families appear living in our short cubes

  • Mark is one of the best pop bass player that have ever appeared. If you are a musician you know what I'm saying. Sorry may bad english.

  • yes, excellent excellent player .. he always has been

  • Excelente tema, un Saludo desde Argentina !

  • i am moore in to rock and i have seen most of the big bands of the 1970s and 1980s but i went to see this band at harrogate about 2 years ago band they are great live .one of the best i have seen i saw gary moore at leeds in april he was rubbish all he did all night was tell the bass player to fuck off . and swear at the fans . gary moore is the biggest twat in music . mark king is one of the best

  • ...ich weiß nicht warum , aber ich finde den sänger faszinierend..... WOW!!!!

  • Fantastic .... awsome timing n feel with the bassplaying.

  • spitzen lied!!! geht mir ins blut!!!!

  • One of the very best group of the 80's.

  • Love it! <3

  • Amazing!

  • 1986, thanks

  • i wasn't alive when they first came on the scene, but I'm quickly becoming a fan...

  • <3 best

  • well it sure does, helen, alan ,robert

  • ¿1982?

  • BUNDA!!!!!!!

  • pure perfection,I LOOOOOVE 80 s.....

  • this band is really good, these are really good musicians !

  • who's drumming in this?

  • Phil gould

  • hahaha man he's good. 0:07

  • holy shit this is great!

  • One of the best bass players ever. Mark king is a ledge.

  • This video has about 500,000 views.

    That's not bad at all.

  • ya well megadeth is better than metallica. dduuuhhhhh. you guys are brutal. level 42 were a great band. so were rush. stop being childish

  • Dont understand why anyone who does not like this band or taste of music are listening to it . Everyone is entitled to there opinion if you dont like dont watch i love em .love the 80s.

  • musicians tend to dissect music, that's so frustrating. lol I hated the 80's (especially hair metal) these guys were a refreshing departure from the likes of crap bands like Firehouse, and Poison. I just liked this guys voice, and the harmonies. that was enough for me. no they're not the best band but really, who gives a shit!? if ya don't like it, that's great...leave it to those who do. *smiles*

  • <3 :)

  • i saw them sunday in rotterdam , awesome , totally cool

  • wow, this brings back memories.

  • I guess you're not a musician so given that fact i'll accept your opinion as shite and accept your comment from your ignorant perspective. These were the best musicians of the 80s melodious, harmonious and hooky as hell!

  • Dude, Rush were great until I think..81? Permanent vacations I think it was? Everything after that was shite with a capital S. Fly by night, Farewell to kings, 2112 are fabulous but sorry dude..the last 28 years have been SHITE! Besides..Rush can't groove or swing like level 42. When musical maturity catches up to you i'll be here to accept your retraction and apology.

  • Holy christ, you are funny.Musical maturity you equate with level 42.I bet you know very little about rush in last 28yrs.Namely because you were listening to supine and linear 3rd rate pop/funk like this.Wether you like rush or not is neither here nor there. The crux of my argument is that as musicians rush piss all over this lame shower.Jazz swings mate not this plodding crap..Less of the dude shit aswell. Now go wash your ears out.

  • Alright guy, Rush in the last 28 years have been about as productive as the stones in the last 28 years. They,ve been coasting on their reputation since 1980..not good. Although not their fault they're obviously out of substantive material or concepts. Oh well, carry on mate..ignorance is bliss!

  • "substantive material or concepts", something level 42 never had. synth-horn driven melody? check back 3 years earlier to jump by van halen. rush are still ace, though i admit i don't listen to them all that much, but level 42 were just un-interesting. sure they're great musicians, but the songs aren't particularly exciting or, well, anything. you know when you get a bee flying round your ear and the buzzing pisses you off? that's what this sounds like to me.

  • Where do Level 42 come in the scheme of influencing music in comparison to Rush?

  • They are so different it's almost impossible to compare them

  • I wouldn't have thought either band has a significant influence on music in the greater scheme things unfirtunately. I'm saying that as a fan of both bands....

  • you fucking nob head

  • no you are fucking nut head fuck off piss head

  • They play in Venlo the Netherlands Thursday 19 Feb.

  • いま、マークキングはなにしてるの?

  • Yeah, 80's cheese.

    A nice kind of cheese!

  • all these comments are drippin with cheese

  • Gosh... brings back memories. playing pool in the games room with my brothers and dad. Hurrah!!! great stuff... my kindest regards,

  • Loving the 80's! This reminds me of my walkman which only had fast forward so I had to turn the tape over to rewind and listen again! Can't get to grips with these ipod things!

  • haha love it! x

  • i agree

  • I loved Level 42. I saw them 3 times in the 80's. They were awesome. Mark King flew through the air! Have never forgotten. Good time, good times.....

  • I used to love this band, come to think of it, I still do!

  • Mark King played thumb slap style, I think you need the bass up high to play like that.

  • I love this song! Level 42 rulez!

  • Couldn't be any more 80's if it tried lol. decent tune though.

  • doesn´t matter how the bass was like... they were one of the best bands of the eighties... that´s all that counts!

  • dear level 42(i know you'll never ever see this!),

PLEASE COME TO THE U.S.!!! you could be what turns our economic situation around for the better! think about it :)

    sincerely,

a fan who has never seen you guys in concert and really really wants to. please?!

  • hahahah his bass is so high

  • I thought I was the only person who ever noticed that, haha!

But boy could he play it when he wanted to...

  • I luv this song x

  • one of the best cds ive got is their greatest hits, if u havent got it , go buy it cos this band deserves the royalties, pure class, great lyrics, great music 10/10

  • love how he continues to play bass with no hands =D

aha just the video so we can let him off

  • Mark King plays bass like no-one else!! Brilliant!!!

  • how much does this song sound like Nik Kershaw

  • Makes a lot of sense. Mark King contributed bass to Nik's song "Easy". Check it out if you haven't already.

  • gives me goosebumps this was the first music video i watched on t.v at three, i was mesmorised. Adore this band thanks x

  • Absolutely fantastic. A brilliant band.

  • I disagree with you. Level 42 have been consistently fantastic from their very first appearance and always will be. A brilliant band.

  • I have to agree somewhat with Daveygovanlad. I went to see the boys on their Guaranteed tour in about '90 at the Hammersmith Odeon, and hated it. I love all of their songs before the Guaranteed album, but nothing since.

  • Hey i love Level 42 and i'am 40

  • AW-SOME-BASS-LINE ! and 80's sound orchestration. It reminds me when I was just a kid. Georgeous !

  • Hey im only 15 n i love level 42

  • i love Level 42....and i'm only 12

  • About the same age i grew to love them.... about 20 years ago!! LOL

You have good taste in music.

  • thanks...its all because of my dad

  • so you are 12 but you are born in 1975.

  • er....no

  • The 80s are dead, but the awesome music lives on! FUCK AMY CRAPHOUSE AND ALL THE FUCKING UNTALENTED WANNABE MUSICIANS THESE DAYS!

  • amy winehouse is talented, one of the few out there today. so weird how an ocean of great songs with melody and energy came when i was young, and i thought it would ALWAYS be this way. I used to tape the top 50 on radio one on my AIWA cassette recorder.

  • great music like all their songs :)

  • i ued to sing"like joseph and emily..in the backseat of my car"

  • This band was so positive and they only tour in the UK shame I would go see them if they came to the US

  • They are touring the Netherlands early in 2009

Not sure why they won't consider a tour of the USA - maybe they think the Americans want the original members only?

  • 1986 belle année pour la music pop et rock

tout doucement apparait la génération qui va engendrer l'électro....La house va faire son apparition à la fin des 80's

    TECKMASSE

    "HOUSE IS IN THE AIR"

  • This song has a very significant meaning to me 4 obvious reasons, although i haven't seen all my chidren together for nearly 12 years come March next year it doesn't stop me thinking about all of them... so i dedicate it to my two youngest as it was and is there song and to tell them all this and that is you all with me in whatever i do & wherever i go

  • does any one know where I can get the words to this song thanks

  • Try here, should give you all Level 42 lyrics :-)

  • You get that in the site VAGALUME ( BRAZIL ).

  • The keyboardist always looked such a plonker.

  • "I'm not a plonker" said David Brent

  • i love this song !

special effect on the clip were revolutionnary for the period (lol).

  • I wish they would come to Canada, love them in the 80's, still can't get enough of them. Such great musicians.

  • best band in the 80

  • good but i prefer duran duran

  • tHE 80's are great, because bands as this!! and musics as this!!! Level 42 is BIG!!!!

    ;D

  • I noticed when they started playing this song Mike Lindup suddenly had a big grin on his face it must have been one of his favourites

  • Went to see Level 42 in cardiff last night and i can honestly say they are still the best and they treat there fans really well not like some of the idiots around now who can't even write a song or play an instrument

  • yeah, i saw them live in London last night and agree that they are still the best.. awesome band live! after all these years level 42 still sounds fresh.. the crowd went wild!

  • you mean to say that Level 42 are still touring. What a band i rem them from when i was a child and im now 25. Fair play to them. Plus their songs do make sense unlike some shit around today. Damn if i'd know they were playing in Cardiff would have got my bum up there to see them play live. Gutted!

  • I 2nd that ! saw them at The Albert Hall last night and they were fantastic.

  • This song sure brings back soem great memories! Wish Level 42 would play in the US again!

  • Never grows old this. Magic.

Yes it's cheesey and so 80's but great song from a truly great talented band.

    Love it.

  • That's WHY the 80s were so good, FULL of cheesy but great music, I miss the 80s. ;-}

  • Great song. Mark really is KING!!

    Level 42 ROCKS!!!

  • 14 and loving it

  • You again...what do you have against the Level man...they rocked in the 80s and they still rock!!!

  • "bet all there fans are 42 years old an upwards"

    WRONG!

18 and lovin' it. 80's music was class.

  • How sad - such a fulfilled life. We live in an era where we have to endure popidol and Simon Cowell to find any musical talent. I presume you dont realise these people actually wrote there OWN music?

  • Well I'm 34 just as you.. and I bet ur one of those wanna-play-soccer-dumbfucks I was sorrounded by, back then...

  • the escort was never a hit with me i loved and still love the cortina mk3 2000e which i could be seen in back in 85 fitted with a kent camb and an rs2000 fly wheel did it fly you bet

  • I love this song, it brings so many memories!! The singer is ugly but he has an awesome voice! I could hear him sing all day!

  • I know it's sounds pretty gay but I don't think the singer is ugly but thats my opinion

  • that doesnt sound gay...now if you'd said "Damn! He's a hunkcicle!" THAT would have sounded gay...

  • THIS is great because they are REAL musicians unlike the sampled Pro Tooled Blud Clawts that babble complaints over a mic these days...enough said.

  • Lolz@bludclawts

  • I remember being about 4 years old, my parents had a video with all of their videos on and my 6 yr old brother would just watch it over and over, my mum had to hide it.

    C000L0URFUL

i dont rly like them, but they're really awsome :)

  • I was under aged when they played a Philly club in the 80s, so I tried to meet them after their sound check. The Gould brothers were so friendly & cool. King & Lindup wouldn't even look at me. Nonetheless, I have to give them props -- the show was fantastic. I explained my plight to the tour manager, who promised me a backstage pass that night. Backstage, the Gould bros stopped & talked to me yet again and then I slipped out front into the crowd and actually saw the show.

  • I met them backstage in Ottawa in 1986. They were all pretty cool (especially Phil) ... I still have their autographs!

  • im looking up all their hits now... love this band and love the good old days.

  • My 80's classic!
