I think level 42 is not only Mark King. Whole band they are all good musicians... In this song i love the way they use back vocals and i love those electric guitar lines in chorus.
A terrific song. I have to admit, "Something About You" ( a song I love), was the only tune I'd ever heard from Level 42. After this, I'm going to investigate more of their stuff. The 80's was an awesome decade for music.
i am moore in to rock and i have seen most of the big bands of the 1970s and 1980s but i went to see this band at harrogate about 2 years ago band they are great live .one of the best i have seen i saw gary moore at leeds in april he was rubbish all he did all night was tell the bass player to fuck off . and swear at the fans . gary moore is the biggest twat in music . mark king is one of the best
Dont understand why anyone who does not like this band or taste of music are listening to it . Everyone is entitled to there opinion if you dont like dont watch i love em .love the 80s.
musicians tend to dissect music, that's so frustrating. lol I hated the 80's (especially hair metal) these guys were a refreshing departure from the likes of crap bands like Firehouse, and Poison. I just liked this guys voice, and the harmonies. that was enough for me. no they're not the best band but really, who gives a shit!? if ya don't like it, that's great...leave it to those who do. *smiles*

Jimpy, indeed i am a musician but thats neither here nor there. What i do find incredible is that a canuck like yourself has enveloped himself with such laughable ignorance.Best musicians of the 80s.? do me a favour. What about your own countrymen RUSH they are musicians of serious skill. And would piss all over this pile of shite. You are obviously a fan of blandness and mediocrity.Go and clean your ears out.
Dude, Rush were great until I think..81? Permanent vacations I think it was? Everything after that was shite with a capital S. Fly by night, Farewell to kings, 2112 are fabulous but sorry dude..the last 28 years have been SHITE! Besides..Rush can't groove or swing like level 42. When musical maturity catches up to you i'll be here to accept your retraction and apology.
Holy christ, you are funny.Musical maturity you equate with level 42.I bet you know very little about rush in last 28yrs.Namely because you were listening to supine and linear 3rd rate pop/funk like this.Wether you like rush or not is neither here nor there. The crux of my argument is that as musicians rush piss all over this lame shower.Jazz swings mate not this plodding crap..Less of the dude shit aswell. Now go wash your ears out.
Alright guy, Rush in the last 28 years have been about as productive as the stones in the last 28 years. They,ve been coasting on their reputation since 1980..not good. Although not their fault they're obviously out of substantive material or concepts. Oh well, carry on mate..ignorance is bliss!
"substantive material or concepts", something level 42 never had. synth-horn driven melody? check back 3 years earlier to jump by van halen. rush are still ace, though i admit i don't listen to them all that much, but level 42 were just un-interesting. sure they're great musicians, but the songs aren't particularly exciting or, well, anything. you know when you get a bee flying round your ear and the buzzing pisses you off? that's what this sounds like to me.
I wouldn't have thought either band has a significant influence on music in the greater scheme things unfirtunately. I'm saying that as a fan of both bands....
Loving the 80's! This reminds me of my walkman which only had fast forward so I had to turn the tape over to rewind and listen again! Can't get to grips with these ipod things!
one of the best cds ive got is their greatest hits, if u havent got it , go buy it cos this band deserves the royalties, pure class, great lyrics, great music 10/10
I have to agree somewhat with Daveygovanlad. I went to see the boys on their Guaranteed tour in about '90 at the Hammersmith Odeon, and hated it. I love all of their songs before the Guaranteed album, but nothing since.
amy winehouse is talented, one of the few out there today. so weird how an ocean of great songs with melody and energy came when i was young, and i thought it would ALWAYS be this way. I used to tape the top 50 on radio one on my AIWA cassette recorder.
This song has a very significant meaning to me 4 obvious reasons, although i haven't seen all my chidren together for nearly 12 years come March next year it doesn't stop me thinking about all of them... so i dedicate it to my two youngest as it was and is there song and to tell them all this and that is you all with me in whatever i do & wherever i go
Went to see Level 42 in cardiff last night and i can honestly say they are still the best and they treat there fans really well not like some of the idiots around now who can't even write a song or play an instrument
yeah, i saw them live in London last night and agree that they are still the best.. awesome band live! after all these years level 42 still sounds fresh.. the crowd went wild!
you mean to say that Level 42 are still touring. What a band i rem them from when i was a child and im now 25. Fair play to them. Plus their songs do make sense unlike some shit around today. Damn if i'd know they were playing in Cardiff would have got my bum up there to see them play live. Gutted!

Huge L42 fan. My kids born in late 80's wanted to call them joseph & emily but old man would'nt let me-no taste in music or s.o.h. now an ex old man lol.
