  • Great cover

  • Really nice but it should have been a bit more intense in the arrangement and some reverb on her voice...I still like it though.

  • "Maybe I Know", also.

  • I Love You Lesley Gore It's So Sexy Singer Is What That Song Is Cover The Rascals, Shelby Lynne, Gloria Estafan Or Dusty Springfield! Sounds Like Easy Listening Music Radio!

  • I love her voice, so much better than the overly messed with fluff permeating the airwaves today :)

  • Nice female version of a nearly perfect song...

  • i have never heard this version, and it's just lovely!!!

  • best catwoman ever!

  • @mloaks she wasn't Catwoman. She was her protege, Pussycat.

  • As a big Young Rascal and Lesley Gore fan, I never knew this existed. This is great. As good as The Rascals version.

  • @larkin38 You know, I gotta go with that. She really delivers the message, just as well as Eddie did. She keeps it swinging but very subtly changes the inflection to make it a girl song. Leslie has more talent than I had expected.

  • THIS IS GREAT ... LESLIE - THE GREATEST !!!

  • It's so sad that radio turned their back on her in the late 1960's. She recorded some really great songs, that deserved airplay!! Mercury records also gave up on her in the promotional department. If she had proper promotion, she would have continued to have hits.....

  • a very "pure' version. very good.

  • sexy voice, sexy gal

  • I'm glad you were part of my life's early travels. Thank you!

  • Very nice . Check out the Rascal's and Dusty Springfield ,

  • @MrChrisjeffries and Helen Reddy and David Cassidy. it's interesting to hear the various versions.

  • Wow, she sounds so nice just single-tracked! No wonder I've liked her since I was a little kid!

  • no surprise how good this is, lesley gore was a great singer.

  • This is actually good. I didn't think that anyone could cover Felix Cavaliere decently, and it's even more of a surprise that it's Lesley.

  • Soaringvulture:

Actually, the singer on this song was Eddie Brigati of the Rascals. Cavaliere had the more soulful voice heard on songs like Groovin', Beautiful Morning.

  • MORE soulful?

I seriously can't think of many other vocal performances that come anywhere near as soulful as what Eddie created;the song IMHO was the Rascals' masterpiece!

  • Babyhowdy233:

What I meant by more souful, was that Felix had more of an R&B black sound, who sounded like he should be singing with a Soul music group. Yes, I too love Eddie's "How Can I Be Sure" hit, and consider it one of my favorites of all time.

  • Thanks for the correction; I always thought it was Felix kicking it up a couple of notches. so it must have been Eddie singing "I ain't gonna eat out my heart anymore", another piece of dynamite from the Rascals.

  • I agree.

  • pretty good

  • excellent version of a great song

  • never thought id hear a version of this song which equals the rascals.

  • Leslie and Dusty seemed to sing a lot of the same hit songs. Both versions are great - just depends on your musical preferences.

  • Wow! Finally I hear a lady,Leslie Gore of all singers perform this Rascals hit!

  • another great post of Leslie ... saw her in concert and she was great ... snookie [great job !

  • GoLesley!

  • Miss Gore is a lovely lady with an even lovelier voice. What a beautiful rendintion this is. Many thanks for bringing it to our attention! :)

  • Was searching for the Rascals version and couldn't find it. Saw "Lesley Gore" and thought WTH? Great performance of a great song! That last time she (they) sing How can I be sure? That walking bass line, doubled by the trumpets, that is just a thing of beauty.

  • eeeeeh!

  • Love her. saw her in person in Lido Beach Long Island a few years ago. great singer.

also love her song "thats the way boys are " and "You don't own me"

  • My fave songs of hers are "Sunshine, Lollypops" and "You Don't Own Me."

  • Great posting! Interesting that she chose to sing it note for note like The Rascals' original. Suits her voice very well though, doesn't it.
