Thanks for the review. What i liked in this machine is that it runs windows as android is not mature enough.However microsoft must provide a transformation package so that the OS will be more finger friendly. I did not like the screen though, it has a lot of reflections and is not that bright.(comparing with the screen of my samsung NC10). The second thing that made me unhappy is that it is too thick to be portable.

@Jordiw00t It really depends what you want to do with it. This device is great..if you need a windows based device. If you like netbook devices..viliv makes some good stuff for the price. If you want a good sofa surfer just for internet, video and games...hurts me to say, but iPad is nice. Check out JKK's site.

@nls8520 you would have to pay for a data plan through ATT or T-Mobile if you buy the one that has a the Sim Card slot. I have one without the sim card slot (x70 EX) and I love it. It does have it's limitations, but you have to think about what your going to use it for. If it's just for surfing the web..Ipad would be a better choice. For productivity...MS word..excel...This is the device for you. Plus it has a GPS! Bonus!

@McHaleJohn Just noticed you posed the same thing on almost every X70 post. I use mine everyday and it is a very good unit. You may either have a bad unit or just have your expectations set too high. Your running windows on a portable device....memory usage and CPU power here are limited....for what it is and does...you can't beat it.

take everywhere? whip out at a moments notice? surf the net etc Nope, windows is really rubbish for fingers, Vilivs software is really flakey, the onscreen keyboard is really hard to use and sometimes just doesnt work at all - wifi connection is poor, often losing connection, it is heavy, the data 3g part is most of the time not picking up or really slow, apart from that go for it battery life? you will be lucky to get 3hours!

Here is some criticism for jkk to improve:

1.Dont always use the same words such as 'cool', 'good feel' to describe the products.

2.Prepare for the meeting, talk about specs like the exact weight instead of always saying light. Cmon, you are reviewing umpc, they are always light.

3.On your site, maybe do some write-ups instead of just vid reviews. It is tedious to replay vids to catch keypoints on your reviews.

I really enjoyed your review of the Viliv 70ex and it caused me to buy one. However, I can't get the grab and drag add on function to work the way you did with Mozzilla. Great review! Any idea how ubuntu netbook remix will run on it? Possible cooperation with touch screen?

Linux is always an option with these netbook-type computers as first of all they are MEANT TO BE online, open for all the threats from internet. and second - they have limited recources and running full flagged antivirus/-spyware on these will make them even more slower. It's funny how security issues are almost never as a topic with these kind of reviews...

It has the Z-series cpu with gm500 gpu and there are no good graphics drivers for linux.. so linux is not that good option for it.

I don't use antivirus/spyware sw.. i use my brains..

Just use common sense. Don't visit naughty sites (porn, warez). Use an email service that relies on the server to do virus scanning (gmail). Rely on a good, safe, and updated browser (firefox). Finally, keep backups.

wimax is only in select cities across the US. I would recommend 3g and the mifi (look it up on google) if you need internet everywhere

I would like to purchase one of them but they are not officially yet available in Europe. I know that you can get one via Amazon, EBay, etc. but will it be compatible with the European requirements, mainly 220-240V and 50 Hz ? I heard that s5 and x70ex sold in the US are for 100V and 60 Hz.

So, how did you get yours? And how do you charge them?
