You're Kidding..Right..You made a Youtube Video of Downtown Raleigh.Fayettville St. at that..OK..I'm going to try extremly hard and be nice. What folks are saying about Raleigh is not that bad..But You lack so much in they way of a downtown..Yeah..yeah..You got Resteraunts..Clubs..and all that..yada..yada..yada..Mass transit for one..SUCKS...Hotels..Very Few..In short...Raleigh..=Small...SMALL town..not CITY. BORING...YARN...!!!
I Was living in Raleigh 2 last years. I miss all forests and lakes there, Crabtree mall, nice resaurants outside North Hills centre, and nice time at lovely " Yancy's' resaurant at downtown... It was a really good time.
I grew up in NC. Lived in Raleigh in the late 1990's. Loved it but it just wasn't growing fast enought for me. I still like going back there whenever possible. Spring and Fall are the best!
fayetteville street really serves no purpose, they should have left the mall there. The mall was beautiful! What did we get out of this? Millions of tax dollars for 50 1 hour parking spots. U cant enter any garage from fayetteville street, the street is only what 6 blocks long? It might serve more of a purpose once the convention center and hotel opens though.
My grandmother used to live in the old Sir Walter building on the tenth floor the view was amazing on clear dry day I could see Pilot Mountain with my telescope which is about 100 miles away.
Thinking of moving to the Raleigh area. We are flying out there in April from the UK,looking forward to it looks a great place to live and bring up my 8 year old son.
Big box stores, while nice as a purely utilitarian function (to sell stuff), they represent a society that is only concerned about capital and not architecture. Strip malls (a collection of box stores) basterdize local communities by only representing corperate concerns, and often not the concerns of the people in those communities.
Everywhere you go its the same old stores in the same configuration. This totally destroys the thrills of discovery and adventure and travel.
There is a lot of activity during business hours. Today, only 6 residents live on Fayetteville Str, not counting the retired people at Sir Walter Raleigh Apts. In the next few years, this number will change to 750, but it'll take longer before Fayetteville Str becomes a success story; it is still a work in progress and like so we should treat it.
Looks like a ghost town. The reopening of Fayetteville St is a good start, but they really need some attractions there to bring foot traffic downtown.
is it safe and there is alot of stuff to do there ?

I like the Cuckoo sound when you cross an East-West street.
I walk around there a lot myself. That's on Fayetteville Street & Hargett Street.

Raleigh is a great place! However most of our great city is cookie cutter development, big box stores, and strip malls.
