  • how long can nut milk be stored? My son is on the Autism spectrum, and i've been giving him Rice milk [boxed] since he was 21mo. His dad has IBS and as a baby my son had issues with regular formula, so he had the Soy formula. Sadly i wasn't able to breastfeed him as i would have liked. i didn't produce enough. [3yrs old now] is there a way to 'fortify' the milk's.

my son is a very picky eater. thinking of switching him over to the gfcf diet. but scared he won't eat.

  • @liesehaley I usually soak the nuts about 8 hours, then if you make the milk and refrigerate it right away (don't leave it sitting out) the milk should stay good for up to 5 days. Use any kind of nut or seed you like. Be sure to soak and rinse them well first before making the milk. Store the nut pulp in your freezer for making gluten free breads, etc.

  • so u didnt add any milk, at what point did u add milk i only saw water going in

  • @channelin This is a recipe for people who cannot (because of allergies) or choose not to drink cow and goat milk. This is a "milk" or mylk that is made from almonds or other nuts so no actual cows milk is required. Just water and nuts. I hope that helps.

  • @PureJoyPlanet thanks

  • Why don't we use a pair of clean disposable hand gloves to do so?

  • @TheMM007 When making food I wash my hands well and believe the energy coming from my hands is important to the creation of good food. If clean hands are of concern, you can, of course wear gloves. Be aware that some people are allergic to latex though. Enjoy!

  • Do you leave the nut shells on?

  • @maslk13456 Are you a complete idiot or what?????????

  • @Jenny1954 hopefully you don't vote or drive and please keep your bra on:-) you can get brazillian nuts with the shell or without depending on if it's organic so I guess my question should have been if she was using organic nuts or not:-) I have two big nuts that will fit in your mouth idiot.

  • There is no need to soak overnight. You can blanch almonds and remove skins very easily, no soaking needed.

  • @thehire01 I've heard that soaking overnight releases an enzyme.

  • @thehire01 If you're a RawVegan, blanching kills vital nutrients and enzymes, thats why soaking overnight is used.

  • A lot of the hazelnut milk you see in the store is largely rice milk with some hazelnut... obviously that is a cheaper recipe.

  • paint strainer paint strainer paint strainer

  • @laphant The paint strainer bags are cheaper, you are right. Unfortunately they are poor quality so you will end up going through lots of them in a year. The Nut milk bag is much more durable and will last for a year or more if you take good care of it. Plus it's made in the USA and is food grade quality fabric.

  • Ah..

    A smorgasbord of double entendre's..

  • "thanks for cummin have a good day"

  • I thought if you ate too many brazil nuts or consumed them...you can get poisoned from it??

  • can i use california almondes, they were heated up thats the reason why i asked! :)

  • LOL NUT MILK

  • @GR3N4DE867 LOL!!

  • why dont you show how much you blend ?

  • Love this! thanks !

  • What a great video. Brings joy. How do you clean the nut bag?

  • what can you do with the remains? i guess you can just eat it but is there a recipe for the remaining nuts in the bag?

  • As Elaina says below, you can use the almond pulp to bulk out breads, cookies, cinnamon rolls and cakes with. Personally I use it in Indian cooking, or in cakes such as crumbles and so on. You can also freeze it in balls and use it every so often where a recipe calls for almond - mix it with a bit of almond essence and hey presto. That's what I do anyway.

  • Thanks so much, thanks for the vid.

  • LOLLLLLLLLLL

    Elaina Loves Nut Milk

    ROFLLLLL

  • @rashid - that's just nut funny

  • @rashid204 good one :D

  • Elaina, I just tried almond milk yesterday with cheesecloth, and needless to say today I searched for alternatives and found your shop via EverydayDish.

How easy does the the bag come clean? Can it just be rinsed, turned inside out and left in the dishwasher?

  • I just add a drop or two of washing up liquid and wash it under the tap. Never had any problems. If you hang it up after it dries very quick

  • Thank for the video! Would the nutritional value of nut milks be the same as raw nuts considering the fiber has been taken out?

  • That means they are not the same... But then there should be some protein inside, right?

  • The fiber doesn't have anything left really, it tastes kind of like sawdust, but does make a good fiber for cakes and such. Most of the nutrients will be in the milk. Wish I had an actual analysis for you, but either way, it's so much better for you than cows milk or boxed milks.

  • Awesome!!! Where can you buy that material? I want to make a nutmilk bag myself!!!

  • That's a lot of selenium to be consuming over a short while, no?

  • you can milk my nut...sorry i couldn't resist

  • Love your video. Question, since you are a vegetarian, how do you feel about bathing in dirty tap water? Does it bother you at all considering that you are striving for a healthy lifestyle?

  • a shower filter will help with the dirty water. Just do your best and bless everything!

  • aww i love nut milk

  • i wonder what happened when you sipped at the end... that edit was suspect.

  • best way to find out is make some yourself :)

  • is your last name really love?

  • My names Elaina too! :D

  • I've thought about trying this - any tips for cleaning the bag afterwards? Thanks.

  • Can you continue to use the leftover post-pressed nut material for further "steepings"? It seems wasteful. Also, isn't "milk" an arbitrary need? Eating the whole nuts would provide the full nutrient value while "nut milk" seems to be little more than another concoction created to simply expand the menu and ingredient-choices of a population used to vast variety in over-processed foods. Soaking nuts makes them more digestable, but so does roasting without creating waste.

  • well you sttill could eat the bag stuff make chips outa them.. or bread.. or brownies.. or oatmeal.. or mix witt molasses and make butter

  • To make breads, cookies, cinnamon rolls and cakes with almond pulp you can get my raw, vegan recipe book titles Elaina's Pure Joy Kitchen book 2 on my website.

  • hello elaina, loved your vid! is there anything you can do with all that nut pulp thats left over? seems like a waste to dump it. thanks so much in advance.

    jennifer

  • I've heard that it's good in puddings and cookies. I'd love some other suggestions.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAH!

  • Great video, you make it so quick and simple to make a wonderfully delicious alternative to the stuff that we have been consuming that is less than desirable. Thank you and keep up the good work!

  • Thank you! My prayer is that all people who are sick or suffering will make a choice to switch from cooked, dead, puss-filled cows milk to fresh, raw, life giving almond milk!

This small change will make a world of difference on our planet.

    Peace and Love!

    Elaina Love
