  • My greenie is a sweet heart. She was a rescue and when I got her she was nippy but I would grab her beak and tell her no.She doesnt bite me now but is still mouthy, She is just preening me but sometimes gets a bit rough. She get bitey during breeding season too.But never breaks the skin or anything.Just grabs my finger a bit too hard.I would love to get a second greencheek but am afraid she would be really jealous

  • conures like to be held on their backs

  • Comment removed

  • Why do you hold it like that?

  • my green cheek echo is very well biteful she/he will bite u if u pik her up and run away wen ur hand is near her! btw she's/he's 8 months

  • Great video, thank you for posting it. :-) Do the two get along well and did you get them together?

  • @roofy2k

    @Thebigredballoon

I have to agree I have one and hes like a child lol

  • 0:32 Awww dats how i hold mine but he always grabs my finger with his foot like hes holding my hand ;_;

  • how can you tell if a conure is a male or female?

  • I love how you hold him----my green cheek likes that too. But my guy is quite beaky and won't tolerate too much affection--still love him to death though!

  • I just got a Green Cheek Yellow Sided Conure 2 days ago and i already love him so so so much! hes AMAZING:-) ivs had Cockatiels before but thet are no where near as nice as these! by the way his name is 'Tuppence'

  • Lol 0:22 bliiiiiiisss...

  • great handling skills with them both. i just wouldnt expose the bacteria in your mouth to them or any other parrot. the bacteria in a human's mouth canseriously sicken or kill any parrot

  • can you let them fly outside without clipped wings? i want one, but i want it to be able to fly without a wierd leash on. i also don't want it to get lost and die obviously... so i was wondering what you think. i've read they are loyal, but so are dogs and my dog gets loose all the time, only i can find her, which i can't really do with a bird....

  • awe so cute! i cant wait until i can get one :P

  • ive considered gcc as a pet, but one thing that held me back was that theyre said to go through a bitey stage, and are quite aggressive during that stage. but other than that, theyre perfect for me. (do they go through a bitey stage? how did you handle the situation if they do go through this??)

  • @XsoaproX

I got my gcc as a rescue bird (age 9 ) and he is rather bitey/beaky. But having said that, you just learn to be firm with them and you can't show fear. It's been over a year now since I adopted him and he's tons better. The more time you spend with your bird, the more you'll know their moods and what they like and don't like. I actually kind of like this crabby-ness! And my user name isn't Jakebites for no reason;).

  • awwwwwwwwwww sooooo cute looks like my cuzins bird

  • That makes me go; awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... (and many more w's) <3

  • Dont touch the bird below its neck as in petting him

    because to them its sexual

and could lead to behaviour issues

  • i have a Conure and he is with me right now! he loves this video:)

  • i love about mine ( i dont know if yours does the same thing) my parrot kiki, when i pet him in the head, he always closes his eyes and bends his head down and fluffs his feathers its sooo cute

  • @MySnowy123 mine does that too :)

  • @Brodster4life :D isnt it so cute :D

  • your bird looks so happy! my budgie loves pets, too. very cute video :)

  • I loved the video. They are amazing little birds. My bird was trying to touch yours through my monitor! LOL! She was like, "Who are you strangers?" :)

  • Remember to provide daily skull fluffies

  • Wonderful video! Thank you. My 2 Caiques love to be petted like that too.

  • Awww..I love people who are kind to all animals!Love and peace to all of you who have a kind heart towards animals.

  • Awwwww! Sooooo cute! She is sooooo awsome!!! I wish my bird did that!! (my bird is on jy page if u want to see her, please subscribe to me!)

  • they look and act the same way as my black capped conure lol awsome vid

  • I don't mean this to offend but are Conures cheap versions of Caiques? They look alike but they have longer tails. I have a Caique but we might pickup a Conure that keeps playing with us at the store..he's black headed and dark green with black belly. Nice birds.

  • Whats the name of the tune? its catchy

  • Are cocktail parrots love peoples hold them ??? Become I have cocktail parrot and he is bite me when I want to hold him !!! (Video about him I have in my channel) His name is Cookie

  • @Lynn909090 Hooked on phonics did not work in this case.

  • very pretty birds! My green cheek "greedo" likes to lay on his back while i pet him too :)

  • nice birds. I almost bought one of these today. My local fish dealer had 2 8 week old babie's... one of them were kind of attach to me but didn't bc needed to do a little research before owning one. I'm in nyc btw and they were going for $500 a piece is that normal?

  • @msh464 Hmmmm that's doesn't seem like a normal price, I seen one today for about $250 at my local pet store here in Florida. I think u should shop around first or find a breeder that has reasonable prices.

  • @Mr291229 yeah I live in nyc so therefore everything is almost as twice as much. I did find a few breeders online who also has the bird for 250. Still thinking about it this may not be the best pet for me because I travel a lot for work.

  • @Mr291229 Wow-what a difference in price. I live in the South & I paid $150 for a hand-fed baby black capped conure a year ago & $125 for a maroon bellied 2 years ago. Pet shops always charge more & you won't know where the bird came from. Good luck in your search.

  • Daw... I want a green cheek so badly. LOL

  • @Thebigredballoon I just got my baby green cheek yesterday...she's so cute...been wanting one for a long time

  • @tamra1975 Congratulations!

  • did you get the 2 conures at the same time or did you have one before the other? I have a cinnamon green cheek, but i was told if you have one who is attached to you and then you get another conure, they tend to bond to eachother and seek attention from eachother?

  • i love your story as well!! My conure and I were just featured in our local news paper for Fuzzy Friend of the week! I have a cinnamon green cheeked conure. Check out my post. "cinnamon green cheek gives kisses"

  • my green cheek conure is sooooooooooo cute like yours but

mine isent yellow sided and sinnamon :]

    ^_^

  • arn't they pyrrhuras?

  • you should have named them salt and pepper : D

  • I can't wait till tomorrow i'm gonna get my 6 weeks old yellow-sided conure!

  • :12 !!!!!!!!!!

  • There's nothing more awesome than a fistful of Green Cheek!

Well, maybe a fistful of Sun Conure... ;-)

  • hahaha

    cute XD

  • I love my sun conures. They are loud. Are your birds loud?

  • REALLY CUTE! but he pets them a little to hard

  • @savyhopi nah, birds like that, at least mine do. One of mine, if I don't pet it just a little harder, it starts yelling at me and bites me XD

  • What a cute video! I can't wait to get my conure!

  • my cockietielies wont let me near their beaks

  • my green cheek conure loves to go in my hair and swing in it.

  • Hey guys im in need for some advice ok so.. Today i went and got a hair cut and came back and went to go see my green cheek and he doesent no its me!! he keeps on biting me really hard! Please you guys this bird was like my best friend he was the joy in my life i dont no what to do any ideas?

  • No, he doesn't seem comfortable around you at all. Lol, very cute.

  • AW HE LOVES YOU

  • dude has dinosaur feet

  • do u hold them like that cuz they wont step up? or r u just doin that for the convenience of the camera? most birds hate bein held w their wings restricted. my cinnamon green cheeck will hang up side down or lay on his back w/o me pinning him down..... OH and the difference b/t those two birds is one is a fancy and one is a cinnamon.

  • no its just probally because hes not a radiotype when it comes to that . ;)

  • A lot of Green Cheeks actually enjoy being held on their backs cupped in the palm of the hand like that. Birds like being restricted if they feel safe, like with the owner they're bonded to. I cover my Green Cheek's wings lightly sometimes when we're cuddling and she enjoys the feeling of security. She'll go to sleep like that. She doesn't lie on her back, though. Different birds feel happy doing different things. :)

  • i have a sun conure! His name is Sunny!

  • I have a normal and a yellow side and it is nice to see the calmness of them. Mine are hyper. My hats off to you on your relationship with them.

    Linda

  • the yellow side gc conure is that a mix between a sun and a green cheek?

  • nooo the yellow side is a mutation of the green cheek conure just like a lutino cockatiel is a mutation of the cockatiel

  • What are the metal bands around there legs for???

  • they have numbers on them so breeders know if they have all been fed etc.

  • O ok thanks

  • ur welcome

  • they have numbers on them for identification not to see if there fed , the rings are put on the babies at about 2 weeks old it usually says the name of the breeder the state and its ID number

  • the bands are so if your burd flies away, then they can look up the number on the band and track it back to the owner, so they can then return the bird to you.

  • @Franeigh2010 also if u have several birds that look alike, the vets can tell them apart by the band #s for vaccinations and such.

  • What trust, great!

  • i used to do this with mine.. but i got him a friend and well... never again :(

  • They seem to be domseticated, but most have a tag... are they rescued?

    And they're really f'n badass.

  • Im getting a 8 week old one I love them i just wana eat them :) there so cute!

  • I did eat mine. It was absolutely delicious!

  • What cuties! :D

  • Your birds are very beautifull!!!! Ive got a parrot :-)

  • BEAUTIFUL! My baby Spike loves it when we rub his neck and cheeks against the grain too. Conures are gorgeous. Ours has a beauiful personality and loves meeting new people when they come over. Everyone immediately falls in love with him. One thing is he hates peoples feet. Can someone message me about how I can stop this and any reasons why?

  • what do you do to stop my green cheek to stop bitting me?

  • aw your birds are cute. i have a green cheeked conure too. i taught her how to give kisses. she doesnt have a band on her foot though. i caught her when i was 4. she flew right into my house through the door and we've had ever since. i'm 19 now. but she's my baby.

  • Awe! You, and that bird are meant to be if that happend. That is so cool. I have a sun conure. He licks you're tongue, and kisses you haha.

  • Comment removed

  • brianjtj, my CBC bites too, but less than when she is little. Are you leaving your bird alone for 8 hours a day? That'll do it. Young birds are just beaky, too - just like a human child put everything in it's mouth to test it, so do birds - and frequently they'll test you too!

  • my green cheek is a baby and shes biting me all the time! can anyone give me a reason? im gentele and giver her alot of attention

  • my green cheeked loves it when i go against the feathers on his head. he gets mad at me when i pet him with the grain of his feathers.

  • i cant do that with my conure he bites((lil bugger)) but when it got to about 1:10 he chirped like anythin!!

  • adorable...

  • whats his/her name I have a yellow sided green

cheek conure.I don't know the gender but I think its a female. She is three weeks old her name is pastasheo.

  • Aww! Yellowsided and Cinnamon, just like my pair!

  • What is better a cockatiel or a green cheek conure? which is more affectionate and cuddly?

  • green cheeks are WAY more affectionate and cuddly. an all around better bird in my opinion anyway...take it or leave it...no worries.

  • I do not really like cockatiel... I have a green cheek conure and it is SO much better than a cockatiel. But, you know, it have more species than that! Search a bit and you will find the one who is for you :)

  • actually.. i have to disagree with the two above me~

i've had 2 cockatiels before *gave them away cuz of moving* and currently i have a green cheeked conure.

i think BOTH types of birds are affectionate and cuddly...

it just really depends on how u train them, and how much time you spend with them and make them trust you.

but... be sure to get a young bird for whichever one you decide. it'll be easier for it to trust people when its young

  • You have very beautiful babies!

  • So cute! I actually grab my bird's beak but more like a come here you silly and I give her a kiss that way- she doesn't seem to mind it.

She also closes her eyes the same way when I pet her lol.

  • I do the same! ; )

  • I love it when you pet them and they close their eyes....my green cheek conure does that too....my parrot is my best-friend

  • aw me too!

  • The music is indeed perfect isn't it?! It is from Apple Macintosh's iPhoto.

  • So thats why they're often called 'Ice-cream cone parrots'... lol you can hold them like an ice cream!! XD

  • they're cool

  • bless his little socks

  • Do they enjoy being pet against the lay of their feathers?? just wondering.(cause i didnt see it)

  • Depends which feathers and whether the bird will let you. My cheekies love their feathers being stroked the wrong way gently on their heads :)

  • Hi Lisa, Michela here! So good to Pepper & Jack. They really are beautiful & I'm so glad you've still got them
