if I was not mistaken when i finished xenogears i saw episode 4 or something after all the credits? can anyone correct me? and i really knew that they will make more just like starwars. i fnished xenosaga but still xenogears is the best ^_^ want to buy a remake for PS3/PC/Xbox360 for this masterpiece!

@jhaykazama You're right. In the original plan, Xenogears was to be the Sixth and final episode in the apparent saga they had layed out. But they sold the rights to the game so they never got around to making the previous installments, which is too bad in my opinion.
I couldn't get into Xenogears. I played through I and half-way through II before having to put them down because they didn't have as much appeal to me because they couldn't directly make reference to Xenogears without getting sued.
xenosaga not a prequel to xenogears. this is a common misconception due to the many similarities but it has already been officially stated that there is no direct connection between the two (due to copy right issues and watnot).
of course there are obvious references and similar elements and of course some of the characters that bears a striking resemblance to xenogears characters such as abel, nephilim and jin uzuki to fei, elly, and citan uzuki (respectively).
Xenogears is a rather complicated story which requires a bit of understanding on certain things hence why it is considered one of the best story lines to have been made for a game - Xenosaga does not compare to that when it comes to that; although it was enjoyable. As to why the lack of gameplay on some parts of Xenogears comes down to the low budget the developers were given for the game, even so it's still a masterpiece.
Xenosaga is pretty deep as far as its references and allusions to Gnosis doctrine, Jewish mysticism, Jung, Nieztsche etc etc. Whether or not it's AS deep as Xenogears might be up for debate. The fact that Xenogears contains all of that and more in a single game is a strong argument for it having a "deeper" story, certainly.
A simple remake isn't enough... the story even if wonderful wasn't always brilliantly handled (especially in Disk 2)... and the gameplay was lacking something. Xenosaga wasn't bad and Takahashi said that it was meant to be a different story with tons of references to Xenogears... so it didn't "screwed up" XG. Plus there were some things that were better in XS than in XG... characters development (9 main characters for 3-4 really involved in XG's story), the science, the emotional impact...
They need to fix the crap they pulled on disc 2 of the game and just let the story line develop with game play instead of bridging huge gaps with what seems like power point slides.
Square messed up the series first, actually. They're the ones that severely cut funding in the latter half of its development (the lack of an overhead map on most of the second disc isn't by design) and completely failed to support it as far as marketing is concerned.
Well, Disk 2 is short, it's not just an impression. Well, some narrating moments were clever and sweet ( the dream/memories at the very beginning with Fei and Elly, maybe the Zephyr/Citan talking and some others... ), others were just frustating because we learned major big events in them ( let's say, a big battle and a huge change for humans... I would have wanted a little anime sequence or some real action/normal characters interaction instead ).
Xenogears is the best game of all time; all the FF combine couldnt beat it, but im not a big FF fan. I actually really like disk 2, especially poem monologue that Fei and Elly had at the beginning of the disk. Reading got me so absorb that disk 2 just passed by so fast.
You know it, and as you say no other game comes close to this and I don't think there will be another. I recommend Xenogears:Perfect Works for anyone who's a fan. =D
I don't quite understand how it can be plagued by a bad translation. Everything seemed to fit perfectly into the game. But, whatev. If you ever find a copy, I'd suggest definitely playing.
I really loved Xenogears. I truly wish they'd go back and remake this the way the director envisioned, without the time and budget constraints that plauged the PSX game. :(
They can't. The original staff was fired, and noone that still exist owns the rights....basically, Square was not thinking correctly when they fired them...never expected this game to get the cult following that it did.
It's nice to wish though, isn't it? Maybe one day, we'll see Zone of the Enders toys on the shelves, and while I'm dreaming, I'd like another Shadow Hearts game. Mind getting on that, real life? :D:D
Xenogears is one of the best games to have ever been made in terms of RPG story, so rich with so many philosophies and references that require the player to have a basic understanding. I truly would have liked if Square would have made the other chapters of Xenogears but too bad the team in charge of it left. :( But w00t for Xenosaga :D
In my opinion, Xenogears is already better in term of story than FF7. However, Xenogears' gameplay isn't very exciting ( well, not bad but not the best either, and I have the feeling that something is missing... some Gears or Maria skills for example ) and the game is incompleted so if we think that way, FF7 is better... as a game ( by the way, for some reasons, FF6 is my favourite FF... the feelings, the music, the atmosphere, etc... all is sad but enchanting ).
Too bad square didn't complete 2nd cd of Xenogears one of their biggest mistakes I think. Imagine if they would completed it back then we could play the best rpg on psx greater even then ff7 ^^
And I must talk about the video. That's really great. Small Two of Pieces is one of the best songs I had ever heard. So, great choice and it fits perfectly with the video. But the end of the song is missing. Too bad... but I love the video. I'm sorry if my english isn't perfect ( I'm french ).
Heh sorry... I said they have the same flaws but they severally have great qualities too. That why I love Xeno. Saga is a great and very emotional adventure, Gears is a great and a very mysterious adventure ( yes, it's less emotionnal than Saga but more mystical ). And I'm convinced Takahashi brought a link between these two stories ( he couldn't make a direct link because of Square that's all ).
I think Xenosaga AND Xenogears are the same at a quality level. There is almost the same flaws in these two games( Xenosaga 2 and the CD2 of Xenogears are wierd and uncompleted for example * still stories are great * ). Still, the two of them are my favorites stories and RPG.

xenosaga isnt that different from gears , the only problem is the story is spread to thin in the first and second game, the third is worth getting thru the first two. BTW... saga is a definitely a prequel to gears. The final scene when u actually see lost Jerusalem is proof of it ^^b
@ffximidboss That's not quite true. It's officially been revealed they're not directly related. However, they have a lot of similar features due to involving many of the same creators, whom were attempting to restart the story since Xenogears didn't sell as well as hoped. Ironic that it later got such a cult following, eh?^_^ The greatest of creators never get their fame till after they're gone, it seems.:(
They need to remake xenogears...this is sad, the story is genious, but it will only wither away with time, only the fanatics like us keep it alive, anyone who spent time on this game is a fanatic, its liek that, its deep, it touches you like no other form of entertainment out there, (there are a handful of movies that compare)
Hey, this is really good. The clips and song go great together. And you got all the three original games together. Now all you need is one with those three and the new one and the animation. That would be cool. =)

personally liked her much more in the first game, in the second her voice wasnt as good but she still looked awesome.

The only game that can actually stand beside Xenogears, imo, is Legend of Dragoon...those two games are by far my two favorite games.

Many say LoD was an FF7 rip and imo it was... quite lol However I still gave it a try and I would say it deserves a good score.
Another I would suggest is Shadow Hearts 2 for PS2. (No not SH3 :P)

There's a total of six games to the saga, Xenogears was the fifth game.
