  • More Physics! I love this guy's inventions!

  • Could you tell me the name of that diamond thing that go's back and fourth. What do they call that? Thank you.

  • A man to learn from.

  • Very nice,

Maytag used to use the same concept to advance the timer dials on their washers. The difference was that the escapement wasn't directly driven by the timer motor itself. The motor

would wind up a spring loaded mech that would push the escapement forward a precise amount once a certain level of tension was reached.

  • I see some applications for wave energy. Because of how it doesn't matter which way the thing is being turned. Very cool Gramps. :)

  • santa's workshop...

  • What was Del's career? I'm guessing mechanical engineer?

  • Oh my god this is really really great!

  • Amazing work!

  • looks like an antique sex machine

  • good

  • How did you make the chain??!?!?!?!?!

  • @Cokoholicar Mayebe he's a really good woodworker :)

  • @keyboardjeff

True, but such a thing would take days to make by hand.... pretty awesome guy

  • The more I look at this machine the more I see a wooden stickman humping the gearwheel.

  • @Wedhro you've ruined this for me XD

  • @Wedhro That's the greatest thing I've read today.

  • I could probably make that into a Rubber band LMG. the M60 of RB guns

  • must have been a pain making that chain :P

  • The reason that the machine got stopped for a few moments is because someone said "I don't believe in magic."

  • Love the 80's retro-chic on that escapement drive.

  • Cool stuff, this apparatus would be good teaching material (all his stuff would be). so students get the real deal, and not just pictures. nowadays a lot is done with hydraulics and electric motors, this shows how it also can be done (or used to be done).

  • That's brilliant. I think black and decker stole that concept for their ratchet.

  • Oh I get it :o

  • SAW

  • if you get your ratio right that you could make a clock out of it , if you get the ratio right and it moves at one second :)

  • i lost my grandpa back in 95', i would love to have Del as my second grandpa! :P

  • santa has no free tine hes always building toys lolol

  • what did you do for a living before retirement? your videos are unreal, thanks so much for sharing your knowlege.

  • he would make a good santa claus

  • Seiko watches used to use a similar set up with their automatic winding-the oscillating weight has an off-centre cam and there is a wishbone-shaped pawl that rides that cam and indexes a fine-toothed wheel with a pinion. It winds with the weight moving in either direction, and does away with reversing wheels (a loss of power from the word go.)

  • of course it doesn't matter which way its turned, the initial rotation gets turned into linear force before it gets to the final wheel.

  • Im a 35 year old carpenter from CT. I have a feeling im going to be just like this guy when im 50. awsome stuff

  • awesome awesome awsome.

  • Wow ok Mr.ArtMad1 i just wander u can make this wooden "Waddling Duck" watch?v=huOoqu6O-Yo walk with out tirer of stoping on this

watch?v=StcY7bG1xzs or a round guilded track consider produce free energy ?? check this video comment u will know what i means.. :))

  • Wow - we need to hire this guy at our company to help us with designs! Thanks!

  • is he still alive?

  • Yet again--amazing! What wonderful devices!

  • That's the kinda guy you want to hang around just to hope some of his genius rubs off on you.

I had a shop teacher like that in high school. Easily the smartest guy in the school.

  • Mechanical grandpa. Great. :D Very interesting.

  • Wow, a wooden chain !

  • Del's machines are beautiful. Thanks!

  • This is awesome. Thanks for this!

  • great video

  • nice, works like a clock.

  • this would be great on a bicycle

  • Very Cool Design and Build Quality. Good Job!

  • this kind of toy needs really precise of calculation

  • Clearly, unlike your grammar :D

  • yo dude, i subscribe your channel

  • wow! never thought i would say this but i really liked this .. i was entertained throught out the whole thing and it didnt bore me.. haha which is good cause i love watching videos i can enjoy right away.

  • OMG, i can see the headlines :-D

''Crazy old man makes strange machine''

''Strange machine wipes out entire US army''

''World ruled by crazy old man''

''Crazy old man dies of a heartattack, weird machine operates the same no matter which direction it is cranked!''

  • he should make new twin towers !

  • First let me say, this is beautiful. I love things like this. But with the direction of the teeth on the big wheel, it always turning counterclockwise isn't mysterious to me. *shrug*

  • omgwtfbbq

  • it is very cool... But other than a sex toy (which judging from the comments on here, most people think thats what it is) What could you use this for?

  • very cool!

  • nice craft work

  • wooden chain, wtf?

  • i know right? wtf!?!? o_0

  • wtf that thing is so cool lol

  • It looks like a little wooden man sexing up a wheel. LOL!

  • we all need to appreciate ingenuity

  • everybody! "we all need to appreciate ingenuity?" BOO HOO!

  • Nice work.

  • this mans genius.

  • yo, sup Darwin

  • Hilarious! well done!! normally videos bore me.. well some of them but this one kept me in tune through out the whole thing.. realy talent you have.

  • Not amazing, but expected. But 5 stars for making something interesting out of wood.

  • Converting rotational energy to linear and then back to rotational energy to make a one-state rotary shaft is old; what pwns is it's made of fucking wood! Very nice machine ^.^

  • What exactly did I just watch?

I mean, Santa is pretty awesome and all but eh...

  • Cool stuff.

  • You aren't really that stupid are you? Gravity plays no role in it. "Grove"? "Knoches"? Not only aren't those even close the right terms but they aren't even spelled right.

  • Fascinating... but what is the point?

  • Wow great stuff

  • This is amazing [sarcasm = on]

  • It's SANTA!

  • fine craftsmanship

  • Very cool

  • What does it do? =]

  • I think it could be used to demonstrate mechanical principles for teaching purposes perhaps. That's my guess anyway.

  • ....And Soon, we will going to work on a Horse. HA, HA, HA, LOL "OUT LOUD", I meant LOL!

  • OMG, i can see the headlines :-D

''Crazy old man makes strange machine''

  • ha its funny when old people do stuff!

  • That's an awesome machine!

  • HOLY SHIT THATS FUCKING AMAZING!!!

  • nice device

  • I mean, what is the point of you

you're just a dumbass who talks shit

  • I don't understand what the big deal is its just a few wheels put together that have no real purpose? am I wrong?

  • have you ever tried making something of this sort?

    .. i dont think so.

  • Comment removed

  • Do you have a hobby of randomly insulting others on a video in addition to "making things with a purpose", which sounds highly unlikely the way you seem to be going off on anybody who enjoys the video or what this man has made.

    Internet tough guys ftl.

  • No all I did was ask in the beginning if there was a purpose for the the machine then I had a bunch of people flame me saying you could never make a wooden wheel that could turn the same way no matter which way you crank it. and it kind of pissed me off. I didn't insult it in the first place. You would've prolly of seen that if youtube didn't have a retarded comment system that puts them on top instead of with the idiots that started this. I cant believe im fighting over a few piece of wood

  • I believe it.

  • Shut up punk you try build this

  • Santa showing off some of the elves' work.

  • Cool :D

  • Santa Clause! ...err Wilford Brimley. I'm not sure which one.

  • brilliantly measured conceived and executed

  • What do your machines do? I watch the videos but notice they do nothing.

  • give it some time. Machinesex will add a section like "classic fucking machinery". something like this will be on there. rule 34

  • cool, cool vid...

  • looks like something from the "SAW" movie series

  • Hmm okay its fun to build these kinda things but this technique is extremely old.

Only this is not as usefull as the original invention. (because there's a circulair movement to start with and to end with) and there will be no movement every 4 seconds which will cause shocking accelartion...

  • That's pretty cool!

  • please tell me that everyone is watching this because it looks like pinocchio banging a wooden wheel

  • the first thought that i had too lol

  • no its purely for the educational and practical reasons..

maybe a little bit because of the wood on wood action..

    .

  • I am really jealous of people who can build these kind of interesting contraptions.

  • it looks like a wooden person trying to hump the wheel....hahahahahaq

  • Nice

  • How about a world without money, Governments, religion or armies?

    Start thinking about it!

  • no thank you :)

  • mass chaos.

  • Pretty cool, great work.

  • Santa is still making wooden toys? wtf?

  • that thing rapes women. KILL IT WITH FIRE !

  • Easy brother. I think this object may be relative to both of our interests.

  • i want to buy it

  • that things just cool

  • add an attachment and it becomes a sex machine...lol

  • +5 points for you^^

  • the sound of that machine is one of the best things I've heard

  • Now all he has to do is get his elves to start mass producing them

  • beautiful works of art there......

  • put a dildo on the one end and you got yourself a wooden sex toy ;)

  • what can it be used for?

  • It needs to be said again: awesome!

  • awesome

  • EINSTEIN

  • cool

  • Brilliant as always!!!

  • thats cool
