  • Nice video, I just wish it had started with the actual exercise a tad sooner. Thanks.

  • I know how that feels.... when you are watching an instrument tutorial and the guy just talks and talks about random shit and you are screaming in your head 'JUST FUCKING PLAY!'

  • I wonder how long it will take me to do scales fast without tripping ..

  • Thanks for the video!!! Its going to help me out bunches! I havent worked in my 4th finger yet in playing the 3 songs I know.

  • Dude i could have thought of this exercise...

  • show off

  • so i guess im gonna shut up but i wont play either.

  • it took him 33 years to play that shit?

  • this guy needs to just shut up. period. these exercise are not musical or fun in any way. FAIL

  • @Robtron3030 u shut the fuck up! piece of shit

  • @chromatic1976 oh my bad sorry these are wonderful exercises what a great video

  • this is fucking stupid, just use all 4 fingers.. also honestly it took you 6mins to explain that? lame. you could put tabs in description as well so we can see the exercise before watching

  • @s3177000 go suck a dick mate

  • @chromatic1976 faggot, you mad? just because you're stupid as FUCK with a iQ under 60 and need someone to explain everything to you like a fucking baby.

  • @s3177000 Btw, it's AN IQ, not A IQ...

  • @StratocasterJoe daaaaang he went there!

  • to much talk. =(

  • this 'ere is Emerica. Let's get 'er dun!

  • haha I clicked on this video to learn how I can improve my playing and I have the same guitar as that guy, same color and all. We Rock.

  • if u want guitar lessons plz check out my channel if u have the time

  • if he talks to much dont listen.. shutup and play your guitar.

  • Thanks man it helped alot

  • @porquemrpanda if u want guitar lessons plz check out my channel if u have the time

  • do what your thing says shut up

  • you talk too much

  • thnx man this very useful

  • thanks for the info man.... keep the videos coming

  • I gotta say thanks :) I've been playing for 4 years and never bothered with all these excersies. I regret that now.

  • ahahahah! On the second excersise your little finger has a tard moment

  • he wasn't giving the end all advice on guitar. he is just introducing a great finger exercise that all beginners should invest in. finger speed and accuracy is important at all stages of guitar. this lesson is useful and only a "douche" would think its pointless

  • this guy is a major douche

  • Shred Manifesto techniques are better guys.

And Rusty Cooley can no doubt play this joker into the dirt and he is barely as old as this guy's been playing.

  • ive messed around with scales b4 but never fully understood them. i understand to a certain point but never really did..I know my guitar playing will never b where i want it to if i dont learn the essentials to playing and my frustration will only grow worse and worse, and i am stuck where i am. you can mess around with your guitar untill your finger bleed but if you dont kno what ur doing u will only go so far

  • I've been playing guitar for about 3 years now, and i'd say im fairly decent but how ive gotten to where im at is teaching myself wether itd b chords or tabs. I never fully had a lesson or taut anything. therefore i feel like there is this huge gap in my playin which essentially there really is.

  • pretty helpful thanks.. just trying to get that muscle memory thing to start kickin in lol

  • helpful but not as easy as it looks...

  • Is this a fucking JOKE!?!? STFU and play the damn guitar!

  • as valuable as it may be you dont half talk alot , for those first time to this clip skip to 2 mins before exercise starts he chats alot of garbage about wife n kids till then etc just to give you heads up. after that its all good.

  • I promise to finger climb that fretboard at least twice everyday! I need to buy your stuff oldtimer. Are your DVDs available at SamAsh music stores?

  • creepy smile 0:30

  • i just started doing those exercises but i got a problem.

when for example i am holding the second string, by mistake my finger touches the next string too..Is it normal or i v got to exercise my fingers more?

  • I swear on my Grandpa's grave I will do these exercises.

  • im like totally retarded with my left hand so i need all the help i can get with fretting lol

  • good exercises. I will try them, I promise

  • Hey man, I watched your video a few days back, I've just started guitar maybe been playing guitar for 8-9 weeks now and tried these those mini exercises for a couple days for about 5-10 minutes and noticed a pretty big difference in my speed when trying songs that i'd previously may have struggled with.

  • The title says shut up and play but he talks for 2 minutes before playing!!!!!

  • Thank you so much this has really helped me get my ring and pinkie fingers caught up with my index and middle :D

  • this works well good, thx man, hey for you guys out there, after mastering this exercise, try doing the same thing, but this time with the Pentatonic, Dorian, Aeolian, Phrygian, Locrian and Mixolydian scales, it really speeds up the practice.

And hey, I've only been playing for 3 weeks :P

    Thx again, see ya

  • but i dont have a 4th finger i have a stub:(

  • this is pretty helpful, thanks. :)

  • it's funny how the pinky just sort of move on it's on..lol

  • @loVapaLooza911

The pinky shares a tendon with "Mr ring finger" thats why.

  • John Ritter?

  • haha totally looks like him ay!

  • squier jagmaster

  • Man, the 3rd and 4th finger lick is pretty beastly.

  • @americanista008 You'd be right about doing just hammer ons and pull offs if thats what your working on but this exercise is also about getting your picking hand and left hand in sync with each other.

  • thanks

  • mmm this exercise is better if u just do hammer ons because this is for warming up

  • agreed. i picked it up after reading about it in a riffer madness column from guitarworld.

  • Just skip the first 2 minutes then it gets useful.

  • it says shut up and play yer guitar but he doesn't do it

  • @TheCharizmaticEnigma

If you would be more clever, you would notice that he teaches people, title is just a title -.-.

  • maybe it's there to remind him...

  • @TheCharizmaticEnigma I logged in just to give u a thumbs up ;)

  • @TheCharizmaticEnigma hahahahahahahahaha

  • Fender Telecaster, im sure the Headstock says Fender at 3:59

  • lol, I checked out your vid. If that is even true, then that's really impressive man.

  • thanks man!

  • What do you do if all of your fingers don't come down on the fretboard in line? My first finger curls and I hit the string on the side of my finger!

No matter how I position my hand, as soon as I put the 2nd and 3rd fingers down, the 1st finger curls to the side. I have tried bending my finger with my other hand, and I cannot get the knuckle to go the other way!

  • sweet, thanks, I felt I was progressing to more advanced things without being able to use my 4th finger properly. Cheers.

  • can we do hamer ons in thi excercise

  • no, you shouldn't...

  • most people start with 4 notes per string

  • Extremely helpful, thanks so much man.

  • Thanks very good information and demonstration. As a new guitar player I appreciate it.

  • practice this alot cuz this is the mother of all other exercisess!, dont give up no matter how borin it is

  • thank you great help

  • Pretty good, but I prefer to do it backwards when coming up the strings

  • oh gosh my hand is killing me :)), great exercises , I can barely tipe with my left hand

  • thank you for picking up my Shut Up And Play Yer Guitar book........and DVD.........course haha

  • Was thinking exactly the same.

  • shut up and play yer guitar......

  • He looks likw Dwight Yokam XD

  • wtf speak LOUDER

  • thanks

  • Also metronome would be good to train you ear at the same time.

    2 notes per 1 beat.

  • thnk you for the video,,,gbu!

  • yeah

  • nice warm up :)
