Like some other folks said, the GEP gun is the best strategy, because there's a sniper rifle and ample crossbows available on enemies in the first map. You won't find another GEP gun for quite a while. Though if you don't use GEP guns, then i guess it doesn't matter. The "old guy" is an albino guy, i'm pretty sure. Oh heck, i'm sure you knew that and was just joking.

The funny thing about lock-picking and electronics is, you don't even need them. You can still open any lock with only one lock-pick or multi-tool just by activating it on the keypad/door, and going to your inventory for a little while. Once again another fun glitch in the game.

Just FYI, swimming actually helps a lot if you like to explore alternate routs. There are a LOT of alternate routes through levels that involve swimming long distances and you can't use them unless you have high swimming (you'll drown.)

What I mean is, there are probably 2 or 3 FULL seconds in this whole video and the next, and the previous, of utter silence. Some people want to hear the dialogue of the characters so they're not watching you play some random game, but rather watch your commentary, gameplay, AND the game's story.

Even on first play, I've always played DX on Realistic difficulty. Otherwise, I find it too easy. But that's just my opinion.

I successfully completed a pistol run of this game. Everything falls down rather easy with a fully upgraded pistol and mastery in it.

I agree, I pick up a silent pistol and throw every upgrade at it, that is compatible (and in my inventory ^^) - a sniper rifle just takes up too much space, and the GEP is simply too useful to waste space (hate the plasma gun).

Although, a one-hit-killer is the dragon blade, which is pretty awesome (no need to put points into the talent though, hehe)

I LOVE this game, it plays like 'reading a well written book'.

And for the time the graphics were fantastic (and they still hold up today, due to some very intelligent design choices).

PS: I wouldn't have chosen the crossbow. You can pick that one up easily from an NSF trooper, the couple first you encounter carry them. GEP all the way for big, nasty Bots :D

Your choice for the weapon is what I always take as well. GEP is completely useless to me since I enjoy avoiding the bot things and everything else can be taken care of with LAMs. And I've too much fun with the stealth pistol and rifle. ;D

I'm already curious for your augmentation choices. I always favor the stealthy ones, which makes boss fights pretty brutal on realistic. :X

Btw, brightness is good the way it is now.

It looks fine to me so far - anything brighter and it would start to look pretty washed out. You should try fiddling with your monitor's settings a bit until it looks better (I'm looking at this on a professionally calibrated monitor - that's the only reason I feel confident enough to comment).

And for ai2006b: as I understand it, Kiko has a tendency to upload his videos in advance and keep them private until he feels the time is right to make them public. Yea but there's only one thing wrong with EVERY ranged thing in this game. Even silent ranged weapons, EVEN if they kill in one shot the enemy screams and alerts any nearby enemies. Low-tech is the best for stealthy runs. A police baton to the back of the head or a couple zaps with the prod will keep you safe and out of enemy crosshairs.

I'm a little disapointed in you abusing the games faults for skill points. I had a friend who used a bug to generate free skill points in the game that happens at one point. Makes the game to easy IMO.

People are freaking out way too much about the GEP Gun. It's a fine weapon and it's the "unique" option out of your choices (as yes, the other two can be gotten on this mission) but frankly it's not even remotely a required/priceless item (and it hogs like 1/4 of your inventory all by itself). If kiko wants to play without it, he most definatly can and it won't hurt his playthrough at all.

Picking the GEP won't exclude you from having a rifle and a crossbow available during the first mission (you can find the crossbow close to the starting point, and some of the terrorists carry rifles), but picking either the crossbow or the rifle excludes you from the GEP, at least for the first few missions.

I think Kiko is just doing the roleplaying-thing, honestly.

The thing about low tech is that the best way to use a low tech weapon is to sneak up behind an enemy and stab them in the back (charging them from the front doesn't lead to a healthy agent, especially on harder difficulties). This can be done however with zero skill and you can still score 1-hit kills even while untrained, so the cost in points seems pretty questionable when weighed against computers, rifles, lock picking, ect... The "later weapon" doesn't change this IMO.

Also Kiko, are you planning an entirely non-lethal play through? I did that on my most recent one and I felt like a badass. Dealing with enemies later in the game is difficult but rewarding, as is winning "fights" through dialogue.

I'm sorry to say that probably won't be the case, since it takes a LOT of time and trial-and-error :( Would've probably been faster if you got more ammo for the prod and crossbow, but I have to ration it so much and use the baton most of the time.

The game is LITTERED with them - I think there are two or three in the first mission alone - but GEP guns are extremely rare and so, so useful. Having one right off the bat is essential for me in this game. Blowing open doors and goodie baskets when you're out of lockpicks, instant robot death... So much value. AND YOU PICKED ONE OF THE MOST COMMON WEAPONS IN THE GAME OVER IT >:(
