Ironic how some people believe that the movie and the book is good because of the violence. It's rather the typical human behaviour that is portrayed in the book and the movie that makes it so great but at the same time tragic. I recomend everyone to read the book since you'll get alot more insight.

You can read the book as an ultraviolent, pointless piece garbage shit book, but if you concentrate on what the author is trying to explain, and if you do understand it, It's a masterpiece.

Ellis wrote American Psycho because of the immense amount of alienation he was feeling, and the only way he compensated for said alienation was through materialism/consumerism, which ironically only made him increasingly distant from the world.
