PERS has to project into the future so the unfunded liablity would be if every State employee worked 30 years and collected a pension, there may be a problem. It's like buying a new house and you put 10 percent down, you can still make the payments easily but your bank account would have to funded to be able to pay the house off in full. Only 10 percent retire, PERS still has to fund as all of them make a 30 year career, that's were the unfunded liability comes from, it's not really there.
BTW: I used to work in a field related to private pensions and when we looked at public pensions we all used to laugh (and not in a good way). I think that my favorite comment regarding government pension accounting (under GASB) was that it would make the guys at ENRON blush. I agree with Ms. de Rugy completely (although I haven't seen the estimated underfunding stats in several years).
Don't forget that when you discuss educational disparity between public and private sector workers, you need to examine the quality of the education obtained by those workers. Where public sector workers (mostly teachers) often formulaicly get paid more if they have a masters degree irrespective of where it is from, private sector employers discriminate between junk degrees and degrees that will make the employee more efficient and thus worth more. How else can you justify Univ of Phoenix.
Defund ALL taxpayer funded public education, let the private sector run it and through competition for profits driven by competion, high quality and excellence our US education system will again be the envy of the world.
Quality teachers and administors will be in high demand, taxpayers will have more disposable income.....etc.
What is it going to take for ReasonTV to increase the volume of their videos to normal human levels? YouTube volume maxed, laptop volume maxed- still sounds like people are talking in the other room instead of 2 feet from my face. Why do you mix the volume so godforsakenly low?
@MrGAB4444 Left click the side of your face and raise your reading comprehension skills. All of my volume levels are maxed, as was previous stated. I have been subscribed to hundreds of YouTubers; ReasonTV has excellent quality videos, both in content and in video quality in general- and even clear sound, but the sound is always (ALWAYS) quieter than any other video on YouTube. Why?
@theaaroneason I have an Imac; my volume is fine... I also get free weekly software updates on my Imac; my 4 year old Imac is better than the day I bought it because of weekly software updates.... Mac is Highest Rated computer of all computers and their customer service is rated # 1 as well... and with a $100 software upgrade Mac can run ANY pc application as well as Mac application, so Really, Mac can be 2 computers in one
@theshaggyshow Protip: I'm primarily on a macbook. I also send ReasonTV links to my friends, which are usually PC users and for the most part musicians themselves. If you go through their other videos, especially the interviews, you'll find numerous comments (not by me, mind you) about volume levels being low. Some of their vids sound "normal" at max volume, where other videos by any other users at the same levels would damage the speakers.
I pity the folks there.

(public employees) unions sitting across the table with state officials (other public employees) making agreements on how to spend taxpayers money
Taxpayers not there and have no say.
More taxes, always the answer from idiot liberals
Democracy by collective thuggery
New public school course: ya wan frys wi dat?
Abolish Dept of Education, fire the teachers, plenty of private schools to undo the damage done by public schools
