Boy, I don't know---I tried to listen and .... crackle, then nothing. So I tried to post a note saying that I'd try to find the "original" though it's likely still on a video tape somewhere; but of course, I couldn't comment till I logged in as roeg11. And when I did, the video came up, no crackle, just the wonderful sound of the gaida and his voice. I don't know what's happening. I'll try to work on it.
apologeticsman, it's actually rather harder (at least for me, and I play both,) since it's a fully chromatic scale and plays at a much lower pressure.
The gracing is different for musico-cultural reasons, & also practical ones (a lot of half-holing and bent notes that aren't possible on the high-pressure piob mhor) - the chanter reed is single (like the drones,) and parallel bored (the Scottish are double-reed/conical-bored).
Be carefull ottorwaefre, the kaba gaida doesnt have a full chromatic scale like the djura gaida, the fleahole can only make a proper flat on the second to top note. It must be because it has a straight bore unlike the djura, which has a conical,
But i agree with you in general of course, just because it takes less pressure doesnt make its easy to knock out something like this on it, this guy is brilliant, peace to you and keep piping.
I think this would be a much easier instrument to master than a Scottish bagpipe, but it seems to not have very much clarity of sound in the grace notes/embellishments
nice very nice if he is from rodopa that by it self means that this is kaba gaida :P i play djura.why not u can play rock n roll on gaida i also can play deep purple on mine but i can play smoke on the water have you heard of it?oh and thats some nice playing again :)
The name of the player is Svetljo Zhilev from the village of Trigrad in the Rhodope Mountains. He has produced a CD in Bulgaria in 2003 "Trite Gajdi", the three bagpipes on which he plays traditional folk tunes and some of his compisitions and arrangements including an old "Deep Purple" hit (Wring that Neck).
u only have to play the video with 240p, then u have no probs

@roeg11 Quality of the video somehow interfeers in the quality of audio part. Common youtube coding mistake.
