Well, I won’t kid you; it's not as easy as some would say but most likely because they have never done 3D.
I am completely self taught in AutoCAD and Inventor with no formal training what so ever. It will take time, but a little dedication and you will become proficient sooner then you think.
AutoCAD is a Direct Modeler and Inventor is a parametric modeler. I would suggest learn both as they both have their places in any engineering field.
Hey man how hard is AutoCAD to use? I'm starting uni next year and this is a little intimidating. =(
