  • LOOK DAVID BOWIES USING A MUSIC STAND! I USE A MUSIC STAND AND GET CRITICIZED FOR IT! I GUESS IT'S JUST WHO YOU ARE THAT MATTERS IN MUSIC! I DON'T CRITICIZE HIM FOR IT JUST SAYING! HE'LL ALWAYS BE GREAT IN MY EYES!

  • Ozzy Osbourne

  • Gosh he rocks

    All that awesome performances...

    Smoking while singing ...

  • Shite. This fucks me up. Emotes is the word of the day.

  • Wanna have that hairgrow potion...would take another coupe though..

  • This performance is great but some of the comments written here make me lol so hard.

  • This performance is just gorgeous. He emotes so beautifully.

  • great song but shame he needed the lyric sheet

  • @ianwilson2007 He often made jokes about forgetting his lyrics... I would forget some, too, if I had written that many songs ;-)

  • I like this song but I think the recorded version is better.

  • @jackstpaul Mark Plati

  • Who's the guy on acoustic guitar?

  • Que temassssoooooo!!!! Un Maestro!!!

  • nice song, but he stole the title from Thunderclap Newman

  • I miss his REAL teeth though...

  • any cover versions on YouTube?

  • love the Beatle's granny glasses!!

  • Looking through the comments on this I find myself reaching for the more recent stuff from the Lodger, because I don't think I listened to 'Hours' more than twice myself. The man's mad; but the madness is what makes me keep listening.

  • WITHOUT A TRACE USED IT IN A EPISODE THAT WAS BRILLANT GREAT SONG SAW HIM AT THE TOWER THEATTER IN UPPER DARBY ,PA IN 1972 IT WAS WHAT THE TIMING IS HE WAS AND STILL IS MAJOR TOM

  • Incredibly sad

  • grew up to this dudes music and still love it BUT...he's still smokin' fags on stage ?? WTF? hey kids this is how to look cool ..NOT. Is some sleaze from the cancer stick industry making it worth his while?? Maybe he just wants to do commercials for the New TruTone™ Electrolarynx when they rip his frikkin voice box out. Whatever....

  • @fargonebewdy

if you are not living on the edge, you are taking up to much room!

  • @fargonebewdy Bowie quit smoking in 2002 when he had a heart attack in Germany when he was on his "Reality Tour". This particular video was filmed in the 90s, when less was known about the danger cigarettes posed. Also, don't EVER talk about Bowie's voice box like that. It has produced amazing sounds throughout the years, and has inspired many generations. I have to agree with ricmaciel, if you don't like it, don't come here complaining. Obviously, you want an arguement with Bowie addicts.

  • @BowieGirl95 He fucks me like crazy. I am all too well aware of the tail feeling and I feel like my hips are floating, fleeing from the scene. I pretend my hands are tied behind my head like in a good erotic bondage story and resistance is indeed futile. The ass and pussy fucking settle down while he rattles away on the clit. I'm insanely wet and he uses my own wetness to lube up. Like the perfect psychic masturbator, he delivers the Great Clitontic O.

  • @BowieGirl95 "This particular video was filmed in the 90s, when less was known about the danger cigarettes posed."

That has to be one of the funniest lines I've ever seen. Thanks for the laugh!

  • excellent performance

  • he looks like Diane Keaton in this.!

  • I can't believe I didn't like "Hours" when I first heard the album. But last year, I downloaded a live show in Paris from the tour and realized what brilliant songs they were. Shame that it ended the collaboration with Reeves Gabrells.

  • @rabbitfish63 the same kind of shame, i've always been "too late".

  • I agree with, HippieJimi!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't trust people who don't listen to David Bowie...

  • alright!

  • definitely his best live rendition

  • he is the greatest music artist. my life perspective is so much different because of this man

  • ending song of Memento!

  • He is among us. Where he came from few are certain. ♗

  • I knew he looked weird; he nas no eyebrows.

  • Lo mejor que hay

  • David is SO COOL.........and just gets better and better

  • didn't they play this at the end of memento? i hear christopher nolan is also a huge david bowie fan and that's why he was in the prestige

  • @marroxeli They did. This song was also in American Psycho.

Nolas rules and that hes a bowie fan makes him even better

  • i cant imagine my days without his voice... is part of my life

  • It's the same line-up as that of VH-1 Storytellers. (Minus Gabrels).

I think the song is missing the clever little 707 drum sounds though!!!

  • this is so shitty, just so shitty. that's his nadir. so bad it hurts. hours was the definitive shit record. i hated him for such a shitty shit, still hate him for that. unforgivable. it's everything bowie is not. still, it's really scar how many so called fans thought this records was great, but then again, if bowie pours a huge turd, there are going to be a long long line of people who's ready to eat it and tell everybody how good it was to be eating bowie's shit.

  • @mellobbello I can understand your not loving this album, but his nadir? It is way better than NLMD at least. It is very uneven but do contain some good tracks, this being the best. I think this particular tracks is one of his finest later efforts.

  • Comment removed

  • @ivankaramasov no mate! never let me down's got pearls in it. classic tunes like the title track or time will crawl. these are powerful tunes, they rock.

  • @mellobbello Well, Time Will Crawl is probably OK, though the production sucks as it does for the whole album. I just hate that 80s sound with abrasive drums and stupid synth sounds.

  • @ivankaramasov true, although that sound (probably made up by erdal kizilcay and david richards) was maybe wrong but strong. can't say the same for the band that plays the hours tour. bowie, significantly, never sounded out of tune as in never let me down AND hours. this is no young americans. that's why i'd save my enthusiasm for other pages in david's book. and wait -reality is even worse!

  • @mellobbello Well, I am not overly enthusisastic for either Hours... or Reality. I find them to be Bowie's weakset albums post 1990. But I don't think they are terrible overall as I find with NLMD, just extremely uneven. Both Bring Me the Disco King and Fall Dog Bombs the Moon are excellent. And Heathen is a great album, one of his best, so I think he is still capable of making great music.

  • @mellobbello If you don't like it, my friend, what are you doing here listening to it? Bowie is always changing as you know. This is still Bowie. Please show some respect! I agree that it is not his best, but it is way better than the other stuff on radios nowadays, don't you agree?

  • Wow, i've just realisez that he look like Diane Keaton :)

  • @conkerboy Woody Allen is on xlyophone too.

  • the beginning of this song sounds like california love by tupac

  • @straub11 only kalifornia love is much better and that says it all.

  • Usually most performers reach their peak at some point then fade away. As in the case of David Bowie he hasn't reached that peak as the song and voice is as new as his earliest material.

    Love you David

  • oh, an oldschool slider, how nice!

  • "American Psycho" and "Memento" are two of my favorite movies...and both have this song as end credit track!

  • @carlopontevolpe AH right ! Memento was the 2nd one ! thanks

I knew Ive heard this song in another movie, too

  • fastastic song....very strange ....i love Davie

  • superbe!!KTY74

  • friggin' epic live version !! (i also love the American Psycho remix)

  • I just saw the movie American Psycho and this song is played on the end credits. Awesome song.

  • @juiceb0ne yeah seen it too

    what a movie

    what a song

  • this song followed me these days.yes,it stops your breathing when u re listening to this amazing song.Bowie is simply pure perfection!love him

  • Wahnsinn, was für eine Stimme, Höchstleistung, vor allem am Schluß des Songs geht es gesanglich so richtig ab. Bowie is the best!

  • Is that a cig or a joint in his hand? Lol

  • blunt lol

  • God damn, there is no greater rock vocalist alive today. He blow all the old timers out of the water still. Fuck yes.

  • One of the best Bowie songs. So emotional.

  • looks like stephen king...

  • Does anyone know what version of the song this is? There seems to be at least three different versions, and I can't seem to pin a name to each of them.

  • @Sparta217 if you need to name a version, call it Jools version or 4.22 version

  • I stop breathing when i hear that song. Pure Beauty.

  • @michaimeskinsek Go to the hospital immediately if this happens!

  • Channeling Ozzy Osbourne.

  • Agreed...he's been the sexiest man alive my whole life!

  • @bbbraziliangrrl : Correction... he's been the sexiest man alive in ANYONES life! :D

  • fantastic...<333333333333333

  • David Bowie...sexiest man alive.

  • Sexiest man alive? I would say Christopher Walken though there is no denying Bowie has got it going on as well!

  • <3 : )

  • Balls. I thought this was gonna be a cover of thunderclap newman.

  • Haha same!

  • The Artist David, doing his thing. The album 'Hours', awesome

  • I love this song so much. Thank you for all the beautiful music Mr. Bowie.

  • isn't he perfect!! Love him. Beautiful performance.

  • this song is just wonderful... heavy on the regrets and loss...

Agree with jacleafyable in that it is probably one of his very best since the 70's...

  • you mean his glasses look like ozzy osbournes glasses

  • lol he looks like ozzy osbourne here :P

  • I love him.

  • powerful song, so many favourites, this is just another.....PS-Lip Sunc my butt

  • hups? No, I don´t think it´s playback, and its obviously different than the album version. But he seems a little bit drunk to me?

  • By far Bowie's best song since the late 1970s. He's still got it when he's moved to produce it ... pity it doesn't happen more often. But, then I suppose, why should it with the comfortable pension afforded by his back catalogue?

  • Yup...hours, the album was right up there with the 70s stuff, no doubt about it...far more personal though...

  • MJ was a Bowie wanna be.

  • LOL Bowie never uses lip sync..pff.

  • playback... n'importe quoi...

  • Bowie = playback?

    Are you stupid ?

  • Comment removed

  • amazing

  • David Bowie has a style all his own. Fantastic singer.

  • ahhhh....his voice is so perfect...I love david!

  • Great performance. One of my favorite Bowie songs, this and fame.

  • In any case he still Bowie and I adore what he is doing in any case (but glasses are awful and remind me of Elton John whom I really...don't like). And his voice is still as in 80'...

  • I love him whatever he does but watching this I see what you say about reading the words -it kills it really, then remember his age ! he's not the Bowie oif 1972 - he's almost a pensioner ! we have all got that coming, I hope I'll at least be an OAP with his class - then he's got the money and I havn't ! you have to admit somthing still drives him, hate to say it but it's mostly ego dont you think ?

  • Awesome

  • oh sweet pain... *tear*

  • this is cool. i wish i could see what he's reading.. if it's just words or the notes too..

i went to a type o negative concert and i was front row center and he had a music stand so i couldn't see his face for half the show.. but i see bowie being more considerate than that.. this isn't a 4 foot stage he's up on.. i love him. :)

  • Probably the words. He's not playing an instrument so it prob the lyrics.

  • wow absolutely amazing.

  • OMG! look how much he is putting into that performance, i half expected his soul to come out his mouth, absolutely stunning!!!! I wish i could have been there, to share some of what he gave of himself that day....

  • This is quite possibly the best thing I have ever seen.

  • Shut up, yank.

  • Bowie at his very best even with a cigarette in his hand, the flue in his head, stupid Q by jools holland... A signature performance. That night, after this performance I knew I had to leave my partner. Like so many times he faced me to see the shadows of my life. I love him 4ever. Like so many people testifying here on youtube I miss him. Can't thank you enough for posting,

  • this what people mean when they talk about a star. He is really one

  • One of his best songs, Really.

  • music would not be the same without david bowie. what an incredible musician.

  • The original by Thunderclap Newman takes some beating!Peace!!!!

  • pretty sure bowie wrote this song.. ya it has the same name, but different song.

  • different song noob

  • I miss him. He's an amazing artist that I truly miss seeing on stage. He dazzled me since I was little girl and finally was able to see several shows on his last tour. I never want Ziggy to die. He's such a timeless legend.

  • Oh my GOD! What an awesome vocal performance!!

  • Wow, it sounds like a playback. The sound is perfect.

    The end is very impressive...

  • Bowie, what a legend. I like musicians and bands who experiment. Their albums are ever changing. Bowie is one of those musicians. Modern musicians such as Blur and Radiohead also display this music exploration...

  • grande interpretação!!!! sempre actualizado, a minha total admiração é sempre 1 prazer ouvir! Continua.....

  • His songs are immortal. They eternally sound in the air.

  • cette chanson me donne des frissons. Qui peut me donner des nouvelles de mon idole ?

  • gracias pekosa

  • maybe it sounds better because he had a flu! love Bowie

  • what to say? superbo!

  • when was this performance? he's in excellent form here.

  • 1999

  • This song and the Album it came from was in the Dreamcast game Omikron (Nomads Sould in Europe)

Also Bowie was in this game.

  • lol jodie foster, she should be flattered-hes a beautiful man!I LOVE HIM

  • アメリカン・サイコの曲だ。

  • this is a great song has lots of meaning if you've been in a relationship for over 20 years

  • or 2 of boyfriends and ten of marriage, like bowie with angela

  • This song so cool and weird, it suits american psycho its at the end

  • this is like, one of the best performances i've seen him give, in my opinion.

and as much as i care for his welfare, why god WHY did he stop smoking whilst singing? its SO damn hot. *could nine*

  • Love that song! Loved it in "Omikron - The Nomad Soul", love it live! :)

  • BAHHAHAHAH it's a dumb response..but man.. it just cracked me up!

  • smoking & singing how fuckin cool is that babe

  • Thunderclap Newman was not a black man

  • ????

  • is that Jodie Foster?

  • Wanker

  • Jody Wanker?

  • for everyone's information- I didn't call Bowie a wanker! Jivechump is a wanker!! For saying he looks like Jodie foster!

  • i have to say hours was my favorite album. it was just so fucking different.

  • I don't like the glasses on him. It's more of a John Lennon look...

  • Back to the video... its awesome, David Bowie can not be beat for originality and creativity and for shear beauty of performance

  • thanx 4 the smack. i concur. he's supernatural. he uses subtlety of mannerism, vocal affectation and expression like a hammer: driving it home.

  • Not really

  • lerge utterenceces of shet. communecetion is indevedual. also are lerge utterencece of shet.

  • WHAT!?

  • this cats voice is and remains awesome. the nigs just brilliant.

  • nigs ?

  • nig: a colloquialism. in fact a term of endearment.

  • Oh I see, looks like I got this term...often used in the deep american south to describes those dead african american bodies as they swung dead from the highest branch.....thanks, silly me thought it was the description of hate.

  • words are only imbued with as much or as little power as you subjectively invest them with. after all from an objective quantum mechanical standpoint they mean absolutely nothing. they are syllabic utterences and symbols understood differently depending on context.

  • ..words are communication, your reasoning is an abuse of it.

  • communication comes in many forms. the most peculiar and troubling aspect of written and verbal communication is it's tendency to be misconstrued. i beleive most people are too easily offended by words and should lighten up thereby disarming and disemboweling those who would invect hate. "sticks and stones..." my friend so the sage limmerick goes. math and music r clear and ire has arisen only when one has attempted 2 comment on the wonderful metaphysician: BOWIE!!!(my main nig)

  • What the fuck are you on about?

  • Moo Moo...Moo Moo Moo...Moo

  • The important thing is that you aren't racists. You don't mean the word disrespectful, and you have your own different meaning for it. However, people aren't always going to see things your way. They have their own set of life experiences that led them to view things differently. You need to be respectful of that. Someone probably has a really bad history with that word and has alot of anger about it. As you do with your own things.

  • Plus the real meaning of the word, isn't your meaning. People aren't going to think of your meaning when they hear it. Honestly, I think it is dumb that you couldn't find a different word to be a term of endearment. It sounds like you are young, and are trying to be cool through using messed up language.

  • i am 42 and wise. meaning of any symbolism is just what the subjective obsererver percieves it 2 be. it is really that simple. mankind w/it's voracious desire 2 communicate verbally has allowed SOUNDS
