@JoaoZao1989 I really enjoyed their show, they are really active on the stage, very energetic, and they also talked with everyone after the show, they are very nice people.
Haha. Yes. I do see the irony. I'm merely stepping up my game so to speak to keep up. :) Of course it's fake. While yes, I am certainly capable of using such words on a daily basis, it generally just confuses my audience. Plus I don't quite see the point.
Honestly, I've never even heard of that band. I guess that kind of explains my misdirected attempt to correct you. Hm...So you've said the same thing to others eh? Hm...Oh well. Score 3 for you I guess.
I infer from your first sentence that you are TRYING to mess with us. It appears that you are forcing sesquipedalian into your sentences to seem...intimidating. While I admit it's somewhat working, it's obvious your "internet personality" is a farce. When I said innovative...I meant as you said; outside of what is perceived to be mainstream. I find the band exciting, and different. Different is what sells and appeals. To some, (Like you) this is going TOO outside the box.....
I absolutely love this stuff! =D And I don't care if the next guy (or the next 100 guys) don't. I wouldn't have appreciated this four years ago, but it's some of my favorite stuff now. =)
Wow, I can barely keep up, but I manage to. The song structure is so complex, the different instruments used and singing styles combined with an almost orchestral feel. I love it, and it is definately something new to me. I might have to listen to them a few hundred times to actually really feel their sound though. To somebody who has trouble following technical music this might sound very chaotic.
I think I've figured out the math for their influences. Unexpect = Evanescence + King Diamond + Mr. Bungle + Cirque De Soleil + some random deathcore band.
The Drummer on this record now plays in KOLONY with me. We're recording our first album right now, take a look at our "pre-production" on reverbnation(.com/kolony)
This is off the EP "We, Invaders" not "In a Flesh Aquarium". Unbelievably good. I can't listen to this band in public because I'm fucking jittering and looking at everyone like they're an alien

9. "The Shiver - A Clown's Mindtrap" 10. "Psychic Jugglers"
they are awesome! yesterday i was on Dream Theatre concert in ljubljana and they was playing too and i think that they are really facking good in live!!!
If you´re not as much into progressive, then, you can´t be able to understand UneXpect, for they´re 1000% laboratory-like band. You´ll apreciate specially if you play an instrument or, moreover, if you are a composer

@argenissinegra Very much so. As a composer who occasionally slips into the realm of Avant-Garde, I cannot begin to fathom the amount of complexity in some of their music. Very unique and original, to say the least
@argenissinegra No, you appreciate Bartok, Miles Davis and the like if you are a musician/composer. You "appreciate" this gimmicky trash if you are a pseudo-intellectual metalhead.

The fact is that, regarding PROGRESSIVE METAL, this band is creative 1000%
Obviously stupid? How so? If the goal of Unexpect's music is to create something chaotic-sounding but precise, then they do an unprecedentedly good job of it. To dismiss it as "obviously stupid" is to show a complete lack of understanding of the music.
@MrPounty1 Just because one does "an unprecedentedly good job" of something, does not mean what they're doing is worthwhile. Some people are great at creating fecal porn, that doesn't mean they should be praised for their prowess at a mind-polluting, perverse and unhealthy habit.
Unexpect is not mind-polluting, perverse, or unhealthy. In any case, you never did find an answer to my "last line of defense." I assume that means there is none?
@KingCrimson776 I only said try, I'm not demanding anything of you except that you show a little respect to the effort these guys put into their music, but if theatrical isn't your taste that doesn't mean you have to go and speak rudely I mean personally I like this band and your words I would never apply to them.
@KingCrimson776, would you mind sharing with the rest of us as to why you would insult everyone who likes this music? You can't accept that people have a different taste in music than you? Based on your comments it would seem as if you view your taste in music as superior to others, would you mind explaining why?
@Bearthoughts Something this bad goes beyond questions of "taste". Whether you prefer Coke or Pepsi is a question of taste. However, if you prefer swallowing shit to either, you are diseased and need to be cured.
@KingCrimson776, that must happen a lot to you, I mean... you are constantly exposed to your own stupidity. Music is a form of expression... this band chooses to express themselves in a certain way, in a chaotic way. What seems like a bunch of poor musical ideas IS the musical idea. Some of us can understand that, some appreciate that and some like that. You neither understand, appreciate or like it. You don't have to either, you could however accept that some of us do.
@Bearthoughts do you really not get that insinuating that someone doesn't get certain music because they are "not a musician" is mindnumbingly stupid? I am a musician, and there is nothing to "get" here. Non-musicians can enjoy the truly great music, this band is just an exercise in pseudo-"avantgardism" that only misguided elitists who say things like "I'm sorry, I didn't realise you're not really a musician... my bad." can "enjoy".
@KingCrimson776, no, I didn't claim that you didn't understand the music because you're not a musician. That comment was sort of a laugh at the fact that you don't accept that other musicians have different ideas and that our opinions needs to be "cured" which you so diligently expressed with your example. That you can't accept that people express themselves in different ways is what made me throw that comment out there. You don't think there's anything to get here? Cool, I do. Different tastes.
@Bearthoughts This hyper-subjectivism is what is killing art, we have become too "accepting" and now any trash can be considered high art, just because "it's how they choose to express themselves". I know it is easy to throw up one's hands and say "it's all subjective", but that is what has lead to so many talentless hacks "having a shot" at the music (and other art) biz, thus watering down the music scene and causing people to try and force themselves to like stuff like this.
@KingCrimson776, truthfully, as long as I'm not forced to listen to something I don't want to and as long as there are musicians making music which I like, then I'm not really that bothered. I think that music changes constantly, and it is what it is. Around 100 hundred years ago people thought of the developing jazz and blues as of something that's poor. Occasionally I feel the same way as you regarding certain music, but as I said, it is what it is.
@KingCrimson776 How single minded can you be? It's ok to not like something. But to insult talent like this is really dumb. You see, this is "avant-garde". Which literally means innovative. They are playing with bands like Nile and Augury so they're not as small as one might think. And with the release of their third full length album, they are growing. You need to either; A. change your thinking. B. get over it. or C. GTFO.
@Oroht Oh man, making fun of modern pseudo-avantgarde bands on YT never fails to bear fruit.
"Avantgarde" does not = innovative. It just means going outside what is perceived as the "norm". Just because this music is not the norm does not mean that possibilities similar to those explored by Unexpect haven't been delved into in the past. This group is just a hackneyed pastiche of grunty prog metal and cliche Bunglesque melodies.
@KingCrimson776 However, as previously stated, I find them to put on quite a show to me ears... Also, Bunglesque? Hm...Unless I'm wrong, there is no such word. Perhaps you meant the word "burlesque."
I believe your "fire power" in this dual is growing askew. Perhaps it is time you capitulate and concede defeat.
@Oroht 3 comments... the gift that keeps on giving. I hope you see the irony in using a word like "sesquipedalian" in accusing me of using big words... and I'm supposedly the one with the farcical "internet personality"... "Different is what sells and appeals"? Really?
I was referring to the band Mr. Bungle with "Bunglesque", I thought that was pretty obvious. Other people I've said that same thing to understood easily.
Dude, don't make a separate post mentioning your grammatical errors...
that sucks.. did they specifically say that bigelf & unexpect weren't playing? it may just be that the times were moved forward. it seems extremely unlikely for them to drop out of the tour.
I will admit that the first time I listened to this song I had no idea what was going on then kind of laughed a bit. Really this is pretty good stuff. Crazy but with a good amount.
I remember listening to this song when I was in Louisiana, driving down a gravel road in the middle of the swamps. Do you know fucking creepy (yet metal) that intro is when it's pitch black in a swamp in Louisiana?
Thanks, I've done that. I'll also try calling them on when they're open on Tuesday. I can't stress how much I have to see uneXpect, and the only show I'll be able to make is the one in Finland.
yeah me too, I think its great of dream theater to shows us some diferent bands just by touring with them, and they get the other bands names out there

Bearthoughts 7 months ago
@KingCrimson776 How single minded can you be? It's ok to not like something. But to insult talent like this is really dumb. You see, this is "avant-garde". Which literally means innovative. They are playing with bands like Nile and Augury so they're not as small as one might think. And with the release of their third full length album, they are growing. You need to either; A. change your thinking. B. get over it. or C. GTFO.
So screw off, you stuffy troll.
Oroht 6 months ago
@Oroht Oh man, making fun of modern pseudo-avantgarde bands on YT never fails to bear fruit.
"Avantgarde" does not = innovative. It just means going outside what is perceived as the "norm". Just because this music is not the norm does not mean that possibilities similar to those explored by Unexpect haven't been delved into in the past. This group is just a hackneyed pastiche of grunty prog metal and cliche Bunglesque melodies.
KingCrimson776 6 months ago
@KingCrimson776 However, as previously stated, I find them to put on quite a show to me ears... Also, Bunglesque? Hm...Unless I'm wrong, there is no such word. Perhaps you meant the word "burlesque."
I believe your "fire power" in this dual is growing askew. Perhaps it is time you capitulate and concede defeat.
I can do this all day...

A few grammatical errors in my posts. They are just common typing mistakes though...
Oroht 6 months ago
@Oroht 3 comments... the gift that keeps on giving. I hope you see the irony in using a word like "sesquipedalian" in accusing me of using big words... and I'm supposedly the one with the farcical "internet personality"... "Different is what sells and appeals"? Really?
I was referring to the band Mr. Bungle with "Bunglesque", I thought that was pretty obvious. Other people I've said that same thing to understood easily.
Dude, don't make a separate post mentioning your grammatical errors...

Mahavishnu80 2 years ago
that sucks.. did they specifically say that bigelf & unexpect weren't playing? it may just be that the times were moved forward. it seems extremely unlikely for them to drop out of the tour.
fredszzz 2 years ago
it actually starts at half 5.
