  • This song gets better every time you listen to it. Trust me! :-)

  • This song is PERFECT. Seriously, it's just perfect. I love it.

  • An amazing band, truly ahead of their time. A+ from me.

  • Glad I got here, don't know how though...

  • PURE GENIUS, I'm going to see them live today.

  • @MrCl1nt how was their performance? i saw them last summer, it was awesome.

unexpect, opeth and dreamtheater in one single night was just perfect

  • @JoaoZao1989 I really enjoyed their show, they are really active on the stage, very energetic, and they also talked with everyone after the show, they are very nice people.

  • @JoaoZao1989 u bastard

  • Go Roxanne!

  • OMG....my ears were just blown away....this band is awsome!!!!

  • first despised icon that revolutionised a new style and now this...love montreal

  • AHAHAH C'EST FUCKING BON!

  • can never get tired of this band ZEE best

  • Haha. Yes. I do see the irony. I'm merely stepping up my game so to speak to keep up. :) Of course it's fake. While yes, I am certainly capable of using such words on a daily basis, it generally just confuses my audience. Plus I don't quite see the point.

Honestly, I've never even heard of that band. I guess that kind of explains my misdirected attempt to correct you. Hm...So you've said the same thing to others eh? Hm...Oh well. Score 3 for you I guess.

  • I infer from your first sentence that you are TRYING to mess with us. It appears that you are forcing sesquipedalian into your sentences to seem...intimidating. While I admit it's somewhat working, it's obvious your "internet personality" is a farce. When I said innovative...I meant as you said; outside of what is perceived to be mainstream. I find the band exciting, and different. Different is what sells and appeals. To some, (Like you) this is going TOO outside the box.....

  • Wow..this is great..a bit of everything I like..symphonic parts, folky parts and lovely chaotic black metal harsh..so glad i found this band

  • Definitely if you like Melodeath, Progressive Death, or Folk Metal, this is for you.

  • It's interesting. Not something I could listen to for extended periods of time (or even every week), but it's certainly interesting.

  • I absolutely love this stuff! =D And I don't care if the next guy (or the next 100 guys) don't. I wouldn't have appreciated this four years ago, but it's some of my favorite stuff now. =)

  • Wow, I can barely keep up, but I manage to. The song structure is so complex, the different instruments used and singing styles combined with an almost orchestral feel. I love it, and it is definately something new to me. I might have to listen to them a few hundred times to actually really feel their sound though. To somebody who has trouble following technical music this might sound very chaotic.

  • Who doesn't love crazy shit in the morning?

  • I think I've figured out the math for their influences. Unexpect = Evanescence + King Diamond + Mr. Bungle + Cirque De Soleil + some random deathcore band.

  • @jockojonson17 lol some random deathcore band. perfect.

  • OH MY! SOFUCKINGGOOD

This is the first time I've heard this band and wow... yes.

  • tht wa Awesome! :p reminded me of Castlevania for some special reason xD

  • Unexpect wears its name perfectly!

  • Holy fuck, this is insane in both meanings of the word

  • haha, i like the "warning" in the details...unexpect is the definition of terror. like a horror film, a must for people with heart conditions :P

  • listening to this just made me feel like i just smoked a huge blunt of KB!

  • This stuff fucking rules!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well, i think i just discovered what happens if you mix Gasoline with Absinthe, Whisky and LSD.

  • WTF just happened? Where am I? What is that?...No...Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • @moo3992 yes...

  • i loveeee them!

  • 0.0

    the best band ever

  • The Drummer on this record now plays in KOLONY with me. We're recording our first album right now, take a look at our "pre-production" on reverbnation(.com/kolony)

  • Woah! I don't have this song......What the hell man!?

  • This is like being hit in the head by a gold brick wrapped in a lemon skin

  • Wow, I've heard some avant metal and really..I dont think its a genre (just more out there prog metal or sometimes post metal) but this is deff wtf

    lol

  • so fucking sick

  • It's like two songs are played at the same time

  • I have no idea what this is, but I like it.

  • that is...kinda scary.

  • Listening to this band is like dropping acid, without actually dropping acid...

  • @TheDrBreakDown i just dropped acid.

  • .. that was fucking AWESOME.

  • guys this music is very good, quit complaining.

  • This is off the EP "We, Invaders" not "In a Flesh Aquarium". Unbelievably good. I can't listen to this band in public because I'm fucking jittering and looking at everyone like they're an alien

  • every look up. Budd Dwyer Went Out With A Bang

  • Vive le métal Québécois !

  • This band totally sounds like The Agonist meets Primus. I love it!

  • EnoreKiK eKarov sed xueil dSevape

    TnarutpaK nom ruehlam ne snoredial

Rus ed Selpitlum SeteKaf ud tiafneib

what language is it and what does it mean?

  • @rockntroopen Its French , written backwards but I see its been poorly written here lol some words dont make sense but you start reading from left to right like you normally would , except you read the words starting from the last letter. As to why they pronounce or write them this way , I can only assume its to create an even more obscure and mysterious touch to their songs. Its sounds good thats forsure ^^

Example : ruehlam = malheur , which means sadness or misfortune

  • @ElvenGodFromHell thanx mate that has been really helpful and i wouldnt figure it out without your explenation. sknaht etam !!!

  • Let's describe this song/group in two words, shall we? Personally I've stopped on 2 of the best word combinations:

    Head asplode.

    Mind blown.

  • @PsykeSC Haha

  • My ears just came

  • @IxFito95xI its your dad

  • I love the drum balance on unexpect's music: it's so low compared with other metal bands. I think that's the future of metal: drums should fall more into the background (this comment comes from a drummer!)

  • Got a download link to it?

  • wow le meilleut groupe pis cest quebecois

  • towards the end fucked with my head

  • I need to make a band like this one day

  • GET UNEXPECT ON SPOTIFY! PLEASE!

  • After listening to this Avant-Garde metal is sort of starting to grow on me, it's not bad stuff...

  • _wE, Invaders wasnt really their first album. In 1999 they released "Utopia" wich was their first full length album. we, Invaders only contains four songs too

  • You can buy it at their oficial website, just google for it and you will find it=). I think it costs about 10 dollars=)

  • They have chosen their name properly,

    still amazingly awesome!

  • does anybody know were I can buy there first two albums? The only one available on amazon is the most recent

  • They played this song in Slovenia! I love the bassist with 9string bass :D Really awesome..

  • Ka si biu na Dream Theatrih :) stari je blo carsko :) pa ia full hudo kitaro je meu mudel! pizda zazigajo ni kei:)))

  • This song is frackking amazing.

  • BUY music!?

And this track is on We, Invaders, it's the wrong album cover on the vid.

  • Nope it was on both albums, some of we_invaders's sons were on this, although in this song the differance is more subtle. take chromatic chimera for example, its now ttly different

  • Novea is NOT on flesh aquarium.

In a Flesh Aquarium: 1. "Chromatic Chimera" 2. "Feasting Fools" 3. "Desert Urbania" 4. "Summoning Scenes" 5. "Silence 011010701" 6. "Megalomaniac Trees" 7. "The Shiver - Another Dissonant Chord" 8. "The Shiver - Meet Me at the Carrousel"

     9. "The Shiver - A Clown's Mindtrap" 10. "Psychic Jugglers"

  • **grabs Cd, feels dumb & sorry... I rlly said that on the spot thinking bout chromatic chimera.. well gj

  • @rb4ihy who cares??? it´s a great song!

  • OK, I was worried iTunes ripped me off again >_>. Do you know which album it's on?

  • Well, I suppose it would just be on their first release, since that's what it sounds like. And they only have 2 CDs XD

  • Yes, their first album _wE Invaders has Novea.

  • i buyed the disc on itunes, but i don't have this track!!!!

  • It's from the 2003 album We Invaders. The cd cover in the video is for In a flesh aquarium.

  • lol you bought a CD, pwned.

  • they are awesome! yesterday i was on Dream Theatre concert in ljubljana and they was playing too and i think that they are really facking good in live!!!

  • just noise for my ears ! omfg

  • If you´re not as much into progressive, then, you can´t be able to understand UneXpect, for they´re 1000% laboratory-like band. You´ll apreciate specially if you play an instrument or, moreover, if you are a composer

  • @argenissinegra

I find it so much easier to show fellow musicians music like this, because they appreciate how intricate it is, and how much work is put into it.

    You're right.

  • @hailmetal16

Thanks dude. I just hope UneXpect open this new line of crazy compositional scheme and plenty of other bands go through, for its such a satisfying experience hearing them (specially live, when you see all that stuff with the intensity they use in music added to their physical intensity).

  • @argenissinegra Very much so. As a composer who occasionally slips into the realm of Avant-Garde, I cannot begin to fathom the amount of complexity in some of their music. Very unique and original, to say the least

  • @argenissinegra very nicely put!!

  • @argenissinegra thus why i fully appreciate them. and loved this band within the first 3 seconds of hearing them. literally

  • @argenissinegra you are fucking rigth

  • @argenissinegra Thumbs up if u Like Uexpect more than Porn.

  • @argenissinegra Good thing you totally don't sound pretentious and still not make sense at the same time.

  • @argenissinegra No, you appreciate Bartok, Miles Davis and the like if you are a musician/composer. You "appreciate" this gimmicky trash if you are a pseudo-intellectual metalhead.

  • Of course! Appreciate Bartik, Miles Davis and the like is a must. I'm not defending metal as the top of musician's abilities and creativity. I'm just giving my opinion regarding THIS band in THIS style. I'm not into one style (metal) only, even when I like it. If you were to compose jazz, then Davis; if you were to make some metal deal, then you CANT THINK ok aplying the same rules as in jazz, isn't? That's my point here. The fact is that, regarding PROGRESSIVE METAL, this band is creative 1000%

  • @KingCrimson776

I'd like to see you try to give me one legitimate, objective reason that this is "gimmicky trash."

  • @MrPounty1 Asking people to be "objective" is always a person's last line of defense against criticism of an obviously stupid band.

  • @KingCrimson776

Obviously stupid? How so? If the goal of Unexpect's music is to create something chaotic-sounding but precise, then they do an unprecedentedly good job of it. To dismiss it as "obviously stupid" is to show a complete lack of understanding of the music.

  • @MrPounty1 Just because one does "an unprecedentedly good job" of something, does not mean what they're doing is worthwhile. Some people are great at creating fecal porn, that doesn't mean they should be praised for their prowess at a mind-polluting, perverse and unhealthy habit.

  • @KingCrimson776 try to keep your opinions to yourself kid

  • @pawnshopr Ah yes, yet another fascist slime on the webs, wanting to get rid of freedom of speech.

  • @KingCrimson776 I only said try, I'm not demanding anything of you except that you show a little respect to the effort these guys put into their music, but if theatrical isn't your taste that doesn't mean you have to go and speak rudely I mean personally I like this band and your words I would never apply to them.

  • @KingCrimson776, would you mind sharing with the rest of us as to why you would insult everyone who likes this music? You can't accept that people have a different taste in music than you? Based on your comments it would seem as if you view your taste in music as superior to others, would you mind explaining why?

  • @Bearthoughts Something this bad goes beyond questions of "taste". Whether you prefer Coke or Pepsi is a question of taste. However, if you prefer swallowing shit to either, you are diseased and need to be cured.

  • @KingCrimson776, I'm sorry, I didn't realise you're not really a musician... my bad.

  • @Bearthoughts *head explodes at exposure to pure stupidity*

  • @KingCrimson776, that must happen a lot to you, I mean... you are constantly exposed to your own stupidity. Music is a form of expression... this band chooses to express themselves in a certain way, in a chaotic way. What seems like a bunch of poor musical ideas IS the musical idea. Some of us can understand that, some appreciate that and some like that. You neither understand, appreciate or like it. You don't have to either, you could however accept that some of us do.

  • @Bearthoughts do you really not get that insinuating that someone doesn't get certain music because they are "not a musician" is mindnumbingly stupid? I am a musician, and there is nothing to "get" here. Non-musicians can enjoy the truly great music, this band is just an exercise in pseudo-"avantgardism" that only misguided elitists who say things like "I'm sorry, I didn't realise you're not really a musician... my bad." can "enjoy".

  • @KingCrimson776, no, I didn't claim that you didn't understand the music because you're not a musician. That comment was sort of a laugh at the fact that you don't accept that other musicians have different ideas and that our opinions needs to be "cured" which you so diligently expressed with your example. That you can't accept that people express themselves in different ways is what made me throw that comment out there. You don't think there's anything to get here? Cool, I do. Different tastes.

  • @Bearthoughts This hyper-subjectivism is what is killing art, we have become too "accepting" and now any trash can be considered high art, just because "it's how they choose to express themselves". I know it is easy to throw up one's hands and say "it's all subjective", but that is what has lead to so many talentless hacks "having a shot" at the music (and other art) biz, thus watering down the music scene and causing people to try and force themselves to like stuff like this.

  • @KingCrimson776, truthfully, as long as I'm not forced to listen to something I don't want to and as long as there are musicians making music which I like, then I'm not really that bothered. I think that music changes constantly, and it is what it is. Around 100 hundred years ago people thought of the developing jazz and blues as of something that's poor. Occasionally I feel the same way as you regarding certain music, but as I said, it is what it is.

  • @KingCrimson776 How single minded can you be? It's ok to not like something. But to insult talent like this is really dumb. You see, this is "avant-garde". Which literally means innovative. They are playing with bands like Nile and Augury so they're not as small as one might think. And with the release of their third full length album, they are growing. You need to either; A. change your thinking. B. get over it. or C. GTFO.

So screw off, you stuffy troll.

  • @Oroht Oh man, making fun of modern pseudo-avantgarde bands on YT never fails to bear fruit.

"Avantgarde" does not = innovative. It just means going outside what is perceived as the "norm". Just because this music is not the norm does not mean that possibilities similar to those explored by Unexpect haven't been delved into in the past. This group is just a hackneyed pastiche of grunty prog metal and cliche Bunglesque melodies.

  • @KingCrimson776 However, as previously stated, I find them to put on quite a show to me ears... Also, Bunglesque? Hm...Unless I'm wrong, there is no such word. Perhaps you meant the word "burlesque."

I believe your "fire power" in this dual is growing askew. Perhaps it is time you capitulate and concede defeat.

I can do this all day...

  • A few grammatical errors in my posts. They are just common typing mistakes though...

  • @Oroht 3 comments... the gift that keeps on giving. I hope you see the irony in using a word like "sesquipedalian" in accusing me of using big words... and I'm supposedly the one with the farcical "internet personality"... "Different is what sells and appeals"? Really?

I was referring to the band Mr. Bungle with "Bunglesque", I thought that was pretty obvious. Other people I've said that same thing to understood easily.

Dude, don't make a separate post mentioning your grammatical errors...

  • Awesome

  • Melodic layered Chaos.... Brilliant!

  • fuck the glasgow gig has been put back 1 hour and 1/2 so i assume they are not playing

  • what? it's been put back, what do you mean?

  • starts at 7.30 not 6

  • where the hell did you hear that?

does this mean that unexpect and bigelf won't be playing?

  • dunno but seetickets emailed me about it.

  • that sucks.. did they specifically say that bigelf & unexpect weren't playing? it may just be that the times were moved forward. it seems extremely unlikely for them to drop out of the tour.

  • it actually starts at half 5.

  • secc say 6.30, dream theaters site says 6, see tickets say 7.30..

  • that's odd....i'm pretty sure it's half 5. maybe you should phone the secc.

  • Like Finntroll and Arcturus shoved into a Tech-Death blender. Awesome!

  • saw them last night...you guys are all in for a treat. whole show was awesome, dream theater have the most kick ass setup. dont be late!

  • I love listening to this song. One of my favourite Unexpect songs.

  • I remember listening to this song when I was in Louisiana, driving down a gravel road in the middle of the swamps. Do you know fucking creepy (yet metal) that intro is when it's pitch black in a swamp in Louisiana?

  • So fucking awesome.

  • i know them mother fucker they come in the same bar that me

  • Thanks, I've done that. I'll also try calling them on when they're open on Tuesday. I can't stress how much I have to see uneXpect, and the only show I'll be able to make is the one in Finland.

  • Where from?! The site isn't up yet, and I've checked unexpect's page and the ice hall - nothing!

  • Do you know when it will be possible to buy tickets for the progressive nation tour (I want to see them in helsinki)

  • just search for them via dream theaters webpage, theres where I got them from.

  • yeah me too, I think its great of dream theater to shows us some diferent bands just by touring with them, and they get the other bands names out there
