How to kill a trucking company......union labor. YRC, and ABF are headed down the same road freinds. I have bought stock in ConWay, and Old Dominion. No, I am not in trucking whatsoever, however, when I see a company like Old Dominion making money hand over fist, while still paying a fair wage for driving, and offloading trucks, I am going to invest my money there.
@hearsedriver1968 YOu should look at JB Hunt(JBHT). Even with the crash last week their price stayed above $40per share. I worked for Con-Way for nearly 6yrs. It was a good company. They paid well. You earned it though..I am just waiting to see how long it is before they do away with their overtime.
Where do you get the idea that union drivers don't work? I ran a run in SE PA and had 20 stops on the truck every day....the Old Dominion driver in my area only had 7-10 NEVER more ...whos working harder?

Let me see you men in plants put 80 hours on the books and actually work 90 truckers are expected to do this all the time. There is so much business that is left off the log book. I don't know about you but when I picked up a trailer I adjusted every brake and made sure it was indeed safe which included using a super soaker to wash reflectors and rear lights.
