One thing I don't understand is how when Reese knew John in the future in the beginning of the first movie, how could he not be his father? Did he have a different father in the future before all of the time traveling? Did Reese change things by having sex with Sarah when he time traveled?

Kyle Reese is my favorite protagonist of the series. In T2, we had a terminator as John's bodyguard, and it gave a bigger sense of invulnerability. With Reese, he was human, yet he still pulled off insane, badass moves against the Terminator.

When I first watched this, I was absolutely mesmerised by Reese's character - the protective lonesome warrior. He only smiled for that 1 sec at 0:58 before the terminator arrives again. As if to say his happiness with Sarah is that short.

no its 1984 he goes back to, and he gets sent back by connor in the year 2029, so that would make reese about 30 when he goes back, im sure the last scene in t6 will be john sending back reese and skynet sending arnie, makes perfect sense if they want to stay true to the original story

well I dunno when they were born but I know that in an interview when james cameron is talking about the Kyle Reese character he said Reese was 22. I just asumed that the Sarah Connor character wud be the same age.

Reese might have originally been meant to be 22, but according to the "current" Terminator timeline, he would have been 27 during the events of original movie. He was born in 2002, so he was 16 in 'Salvation'. He was transferred to John Connor's command in 2027 and was sent back in time in 2029 which means he was 27 in 1984.

T2 cost about 100,000 times more to make and it was a true masterpiece but because it didnt have (mike biehn) Kyle Reese it wasnt as good as T1 in my opinion and many peoples opinion as well.

because kyle rees is born later than sarah connor, he´s born after judgement day and grows up living in the ruins of earth, becomes a fighter of the resistance. he also becomes a friend of john connor. only when they discover the plot of the machines to kill john connor as a child, kyle is sent back in time. since salvation is set before thsi moment, we get to meet kyle as a youngster.

It makes him into more of a sacrificial hero. If he lived we would have still liked him, but I think his death makes the audiences love him even more. I have a feeling John may die in a similar way at the end of the war.

Skynet thinks that by killing john connor, the humans will give up, but in reality it would make the human races more united in the fight against skynet. In T6 the movie will have reese being sent back to 1984. Remember that Christian bale has signed up to do 3 Terminator movies.

That's pretty much the way I think it will go too. T4 is about 11 years before Kyle is sent back so T6 would be a good time to do it. I'm not sure if John will die or not, but if he does it will probably be an emotional sacrifice that inspires the rest of the resistance. And I'll probably cry like a baby.
