I never said high 60s. My point was that the results of that main poll you cite (Rassmussen) never had the president above 60, even when every other poll had him well above 60. So you should look at long-term trends in this poll in order to assess whether the president's popularity has dropped significantly. If you do that, you will see that there has not been any significant change in his popularity. 53 is just 2 points from his average score in this poll from February until now.
My popint is that I don't understand why you trust a guy who's never run anything his entire life to take over the auto industry, take over the banking industry, and take over health care. The guy isn't even qualified to run a McDonald's and you want him to make every decision in yours and everyone else's lives. The guy is a proven liar and incompetent. They rushed through the so-called stimulus package (that's only made things worse) saying unemployment wouldn't go past 8%. It's now over 9.5%!
You're history is correct. And House Democrats, specifically those from districts won by McCain, are going to have a difficult time winning election. But they won't lose enough to lose control of the House.
But Republicans might lose more seats in the Senate. Dems could pick up 4 seats while maybe losing 1 or 2. That's a net 2 seat gain at worst.
So your resurgence looks, at best, like a struggle to maintain the status quo--a status quo where Republicans are in the minority.
That's assuming that everything stays static or the same over the next 2 to 4 years. If the economy doesn't improve by next fall (and it looks like unemployment, at least, won't) the only party to blame will be the Democrats. And if, God forbid, there's another terrorist attack, the public is not going to rally around Obama the way they did Bush, the way he's been so openly dismantling Bush's terrorist policy

We're both assuming things remains static. If the economy totally collapses then you're right: Dems will lose a lot seats in the House. But they have such a huge majority now that it is hard for me to believe that they will lose enough seats to give Reps the House. When asked, the majority of the public is against a government takeover and raised taxes for this. Most people are happy with their health care.

Expanding ones influence is not the same as those such as Alexander. the British also sought conquest and to expand it's empire. We have done neither. Actually, that's false. Many colleges and universities were giving women scholarships to diversify their student populations. Furthermore, white women are listed as a protected class under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Finally, because of these developments, many women entered colleges and universities during the1970s and 1980s. So, if Palin was smart enough, she could went to better schools. Almost every single poll has his approval in the 50's right now and not one of them has him in the high 60's. In fact, Rassmussen has him at 53% and has his strongly disapprove higher than his strongly approve. Rassmussen is the only poll that does likely voters. Who cares what people who don't vote think.
As far as a Republican resurgence, every single off year election except for 2 in the last 100 years had the out of power party making massive gains. It's history...

That's not right: Rassmussen 53,Gallup 63, Quinnipiac 57; CNN 61; ABC/Post 65; NYT/CBS 63; NBC/WSJ 56. These numbers suggest that he maintains a high approval rating--even as it has dropped from his record highs.
Rassmussen doesn't show a plummet. His average score in this poll since Feb is about 55. So the 53 is not a significant drop.
The trend in all of these polls show a drop from his record highs but still a historically high approval rating.

I never said high 60s. My point was that the results of that main poll you cite (Rassmussen) never had the president above 60, even when every other poll had him well above 60. So you should look at long-term trends in this poll in order to assess whether the president's popularity has dropped significantly. If you do that, you will see that there has not been any significant change in his popularity. 53 is just 2 points from his average score in this poll from February until now.

You're history is correct. And House Democrats, specifically those from districts won by McCain, are going to have a difficult time winning election. But they won't lose enough to lose control of the House.
But Republicans might lose more seats in the Senate. Dems could pick up 4 seats while maybe losing 1 or 2. That's a net 2 seat gain at worst.
So your resurgence looks, at best, like a struggle to maintain the status quo--a status quo where Republicans are in the minority.

If the economy doesn't improve by next fall (and it looks like unemployment, at least, won't) the only party to blame will be the Democrats. We're both assuming things remains static. If the economy totally collapses then you're right: Dems will lose a lot seats in the House. But they have such a huge majority now that it is hard for me to believe that they will lose enough seats to give Reps the House. Plus, there aren't that many competitive districts and the Dems in those districts have voted against the president on key policies to guard against any backlash in 2010.

Most polls show that a majority support some form of health reform (a majority supports a public option), and the same time polls also show that people are worried about cost and worry about losing their coverage. I know, that's telling, isn't it? Because of the constant media drumbeat that we must do something, most people are totally fine with their own health care but they want other people to be covered. It makes no sense...

For one, I don't fear government taking over my health care. If anything my employers, in order to be competitive, will add benefits on top of any basic health care government offers. I support Health Reform because too many people don't have coverage and, for many of those that have coverage, it's not affordable, especially if they get really sick.
Finally, i think it's an embarrassment that we spend the most on health care but it ranks 37th in the world. We need reform.

Here's all you nee to know about Obama taking over health care like he did the auto industry and the banking industry(up until 6 months ago the only thing this 40-something man-child has ever run in his life was leading a mob down the street, I'm sorry, he "organized the community")
Obama's team said if we passed the stimulus package, unemployment would not go over 8%. It's now almost 10%. They were WRONG. Unemployment is still going up. Do you still trust ANY of their numbers?

You're comparing different things. His "take over" of the banking industry actually is turning out okay. His policies saved capital markets. The verdict is still out on auto industry. It's going to be some time before we're able to assess whether it was a good idea.
Their projections were wrong on unemployment. I don't think that's such a big deal. Many projections are wrong. The question is whether these numbers mean the economy is on or off tract. All the analyses I've read say on.

Please list for me the government programs that the goevernment runs well. Do you include the post office, medicare,and social security?
Not to mention that the government is ALWAYS WRONG about how much these things will cost. We can't afford this. In 1964, President Johnson said that Medicare would cost $12 billion in 26 years. The actual cost for Medicare in 1990 was $110 BILLION! They were also way off on Social Security

Just imagine, as of right now, Obama is saying Obamacare will cost between $1.5 TRILLION and $3 TRILLION!!! We're already running a $1.85 TRILLION DEFICIT (the previous worst deficit ever was about $420 billion) and add Obama's insane deficits to his riduculous budgets and you're looking at him adding over $15 TRILLION to the National Debt over the next 10 years and it STILL won't cover everyone!!! The only thing we know for sure is that you won't have any choices in your health care anymore...

We have no way of knowing what will happen. But we no for a fact the two biggest factors in 2006 and 2008 won't be an issue in 2010:
The Iraq War won't be an issue and there won't be Bush to punish.
Obama won't be on the ticket, therefore there won't be anything historic in next years mid-terms.
However, if the economy still sucks next November, the Democrats will no longer be able to put all the blame on Bush. Plus,the party in power isn't as motivated to vote as the party out of power

Again, you're right but the flip side is that if the economy recovers in any way, then Dems could have a banner year. And, even though Obama won't be on the ticket, he will be able to effectively campaign and raise money for Dems.

You know, she was drawing just as big, if not bigger crowds than Obama the last couple months of the campaign. Mock her and make fun of her all you like. That doesn't mean anything. It's not too soon to tell. His projected budgets give us TRILLION DOLLAR DEFICITS for the next ten years, according to both his economic team and the CBO. Already that's adding TEN TRILLION DOLLARS TO THE DEBT over the next ten years.That's $10,000,000,000,000.00.That's a million million. That's more than every single President in history's budgets combined
And that's WITHOUT counting another stimulus and the $3 TRILLION Obamacare

When did I ever say polution wasn't a problem?I'm just saying that Global Warming isn't happening,or at least hasn't happened for 10years,and even if it was happening, we can't prove humans are causing it, and even if we were, we can't show how to stop it
Not to mention that some of the same Earth Day Nuts from 30years ago that were complaing about GLOBAL COOLING have now changed their minds and are worried about GLOBAL WARMING

Global Warming doesn't appear to be real or man-made and these regulations the government is forcing on us will hurt the American economy but not effect countries like China who will outperform us...

Every single year since the Republicans controlled Congress,except for one quarter during September 11th, the economy grew.Under the 8years of Bush, the economy grew more and there was less unemployment than under Clinton
And Obama isn't just spending 10 TRILLION, he's spending over 40 TRILLION!He's just spending 10 TRILLION that we don't have,that we'll EVER be able to pay back
It took us over 220 years to run up a 10 TRILLION National Debt and Obama is making it 20 TRILLION in just 3 weeks
