  • I have a question.... My golden retriever Walker is 3 years old. We haven't taken him to the vet yet, because were trying new things to make his skin better. he has like a huge looking wart on his neck, and some other small ones around his body. His neck skin is REALLY bad, and his belly and back is really bad too. Help? :(

  • Oh my poor friend Dino, really hurt you? I felt so ugly to see but that was long ago and are a very healthy dog and now you're an adult and an intelligent and obedient good boy.

I am sending you hugs my dear Dino.

    Love JaCkO from México =)

  • Any sure fire way to heal these hotspots. Please help.

  • Hi Hatchetman6971, best is to keep area dry and apply some powder on it. Good luck! Love, Dino

  • My poor 12 year old golden, Aliie, (there's videos of her and my puppy on my channel) has several hot spots right now. She has gotten them on her neck under her ears before. Right now they are on the inside of her legs and on her elbows, as well as on her stomach. Poor girl! I'm going to try some treatments at home before going to the vet, as we know exactly what it is.

I just wish there was some magical food or something we could feed them so they stopped getting hot spots! :(

  • Hi empouse, oh poor Aliie!!! Please give her some hugs from me. Try to keep the hot spots dry with some powder and stop all treats because some times they do cause allergies. Get well soon, Aliie!!! Love, Dino

  • ugh my golden thumper gets them and we try to dry her very well. i feel bad for her because she loves to swim

  • Hi thenotoriousjon, yeah! I really dread these nasty hot spots, they seem to bug me more in summer! Give Thumper a scratchie from me! Love, Dino

  • happy to hear Dino has recovered from that horrific hot spot. My golden Karma gets them around her neck and it's almost impossible to shave her - she's afraid of the razor but I put Gold Bond powder on the spot and that seems to work.

  • Hi alanckaye, thanks for commenting. You are right, keeping the area dry and applying powder does wonders. Please give Karma an extra treat from me today! Love, Dino

  • Hi bandidagen, thanks for your comment! Glad to say that I have fully recovered now. Love, Dino

  • Thanks Dino, Angel, my lab, has been doing much better. Thank you also for your prompt reply! I hope Dino is fine, too.

  • Hi Lindalof, great to hear that Angel is better now. Please give her a tummy rub for me.

    Love, Dino

  • Hi, just found out my dog has hot spot...what did your vet recommend as way of treatment? Mine recommended a spray and antihistamine...he did not shave her (yellow lab)

  • Hi Lindalof, the vet gave some cream and antihistamine too! Just keep the area dry, you can put some powder on it and don't let her lick it. Please give your lab a hug from me.

    Love, Dino

  • I hope he didnt feel hurt And I hope he stays happy!

  • Hi ObiNobake, thanks! The hot spots are all gone now! Yay! Love, Dino

  • what is a hotspot ???

  • Hi leormon523, hot spots are a skin condition where the area is sore and infected, it can be due to various reasons, like repeated scratching and licking. Hot and wet weather also make it worst. Hot spots can spread rapidly, so they have to be treated immediately. Love, Dino

  • o ok thank :)

  • aww i feel really bad for dino! i hope he gets better

  • Hi clubpenguin123321, Dino has fully recovered and his fur is now about 3 inches long. Thanks for your message! Love, Dino

  • Hi taatanohana, thanks for your comment! Love, Dino

  • What a cutie. We get really hot here in Houston, Tx too. This summer is the first summer without hotspots. I started in Jan with 2 allergy pills (clemistine 2mg)twice a day. Also 2 squirts of salmon oil twice a day with her meal. Also a really good quality food is important.

You have a very well behaved pupper. I can tell he is well loved as well. Keep up the good work.

  • Hi yellowrose3502, thanks so much for your comment! Love, Dino

  • He so smart!!!

  • Hi mccqueenz, thanks for your comment! Love, Dino

  • Hi zzzhuhzzz, sometimes it is due to the hot weather or allergy. Love, Dino

  • Hi zzzhuhzzz, There were same hot spots all over the body so he had to be given a clean shave. He has fully recovered, the new hair is about an inch long now, you can watch his latest video " Mastering the Walk". Thanks!!! Love, Dino

  • Poor Dino. I am so sorry. This is just like my son's adopted dogs brother, Boomer is his name. He is a White Lab Retriever. He has such horrible allergies. He gnaws on his feet they itch so bad. The vet has tried everything. Dogs of this breed and in the water have these a lot. Do you have fleas there? We have none because of great medicines. what a great trick too! I am a nurse , if you have Hydrocortisone cream or spray that will help with healing/itching. but don't let him eat it :(

  • Hi barbara3d, Glad to report that Dino has recovered 100% from the nasty hot spots. Now we are also paying attention to the snacks we give him to see if he may be allergic to them too. Yes we do have fleas here, but we give Dino anti flea treatment, so that is under control. Thanks for all your tips! You are great! Love, Dino

  • Dino, you might want to suggest to your parents that they place that dog cookie slightly closer to the end of your nose - right where the fur part starts. It will make it easier for you to do an impressive flip. As for the hot spots, has your vet ever had you try KO by Eukanuba? It's made with Kangaroo meat and hence you might not be allergic to the ingredients. Plus my dog Tucker says it's mighty tasty.

  • Hi 2DogLuvR, Thanks so much for the tip! Will practice with your method tomorrow. I am taking Timberwolf lamb and apple cause I have skin allergies. Big hug for Tucker. Love, Dino

  • Hi Cassie, thanks, I am recovering very well. Love, Dino
