not 1/2 as good as i expected, it just goes to show you. He is amazing but prince, as someone said like Jimi et al. has feeling. And it isnt that he does have feeling up much of his genius is in a virtuso, when it come to straight good feeling guitar I dont think he is shinning much. Sometimes 2 notes are so much better than 10.

I've learned over the years of being friends with other guitar players, that the ones who say that usually cant play worth a damn anyway and use that excuse as to why they cant play. neil zaza has by far the best instrumental cover of purple rain..Don't get me wrong.In terms of technique and accuracy with speed ...petrucci sits right on the top even above zaza for sure...Zaza plays with highest speed burst but still petrucci beats him at speed..... but what I like about Zaza is he brings some awesome emotional touch. When I see petrucci I keep my guitar aside knowing world domination mode is on but when I see Zaza I pick up to play. Zaza encourages players a lot with songs.

To all the ignorant idiots that do not know who John Petrucci is, look up state of grace with Jordan Rudess on keys, Dream Theater, his band of over 20 years, or his amazing solo album, Suspended Animation. The sound of an 80's video camera, can not do him justice, and he got better and better. You know nothing about a true guitar icon and a great artist. Open you mind and mostly your ears people.

God this is amazing. I went a few months without listening to this, came back to it and it hit me the exact same. 7:10 onwards is so beautiful. He built tension throughout the entire song, and then released it all with those incredible fast passages. It's like he hit nirvana. Listening to it feels like some sort of out of body experience. I've heard alot of versions, including the original. This is by far the best though.
