@poorsod2 Their strategy of just kitting songs together out of riffs worked very well up until right after Sardonic Wrath. Those last three albums they put out suffer from especially from a lack of songcraft.

If you cant handle production value (or lack there of) then you arent truly into the scene for the music, and you are most likely a hipster, riding on the "black metal isnt cool" train, trying to be the only one to listen to the genre. News flash, dont only listen to underground bands, theres other stuff out there.

Sardonic Wrath's definitely my fave Darkthrone album. Perfect bridge between the old and the new. Also, can't go wrong with an album where the cover is corpsepainted angels flying down to slay, hahaha.

The DM days, the raw BM days, the blackened/crusty punky new stuff, all Darkthrone kicks ass.

If the new stuff makes you go "WAGRH CHANGE IS BAD THIS IS FALSETHRONE, UNTRUE, UNTRUE", those treasures shall never befall you.

@Gulaschiltis DarkThrone's new style sucks total ass. I remember when they used to say "DarkThrone plays Unholy Black Metal, Exclusively!" Well what the fuck! Go back to Unholy black metal, guys. Sardonic Wrath was the last REAL good album.  Darkthrones and Black flags had a few good tracks, but I had to get used too them. With this band you should just love it right away!

@Ganjateer88 I wouldnt say sold themselves out... They just changed there style when they promised they wouldnt. Im not all that heartbroken about it because I like so many bands way more than old Darkthrone, but its just a bit dissapointing to see how easily these promises are forgotten. Darkthone is still a very respectable band, and they deserve that title.
