Anime almost never goes into that much detail. no wold map oh no instead we get this beautifully generated interconnected world (beautiful back when it first came out) instead of a low-res foggy world map what ever will we do with out our low-res.

@stuvo1977 No freedom? The sphere grid gave you more freedom than almost any other FF game as far as character development went. The storyline was great IMO. There is no world map but it did fine without it. You can always replay old FF games or other RPGs if you really want to wander around a map so badly.

I like this battle system! DX I have a final fantasy on Wii and the way I fight they can attack from all sides and I have to throw them around to kill them! Because there 3 monsters attacking me in a open area and literally I have to run because of it and throw one at a time. I love the game but hate the battle system. I want Square-Enix to bring back something like Final Fantasy X. The story for FFX had such a poignant ending. The Music is the best, every time I hear To Zanarkand theme brings back great memories. The customization of the sphere grid and the Weapons/Armor is Epic. Always will be one of my favorite games. Final Fantasy XIII looks so SICK I'm so anxious to play it.

I some what like FFVII but i HATED their battle system, there was no time to think or plan what so ever but I liked how you could use r1 or l1 to quick skip the list, other than X... but in FFX it had a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better battle system, in a way so you could predict and change the future turns in a fight!

Obviously you haven't really observed the differences, in FFVII they'll attack on their own whether or not you leave the controller alone. In FFX they've redone it so you could see which monster attacks first and will not attack whenever the A.I. tells it to. so in FFX it is a ACTUAL ATB where every character gets there own turn. and not having to "wait" and yes I know its the same system it's just they've redone to where it's more useful than just to pick attack and magic :p

Cloud was a super-soldier, Squall was a mercenary, and Zidane was a pirate. when tidus started out, he was just some athlete from a place that didn't even exist.I don't know how he found the power to survived until the final boss and defeat it.

@EirikXL Cloud had mental breakdowns, alter ego/memories, and seizures all bcuz of suppressed childhood memories of being a bullied shy kid. It was just overdone when it came to the emotions. The main character/hero should be emotionally competent to some degree :P

omg I'm 25. I ACTUALLY grew up on Final Fantasy. IX is probably the best of the PS1, VI is crazy nuts (though now that we are in 3D - the 2D sprites are a little hard to go back to) and IV is one of my favorites. Go my youth, know your roots! Play Final Fantasy!

I feel you.. I was the same. I actually got to Mt. Gagazet and quit playing it because I felt it was too linear. I went back and just finished it a couple days ago and it wasn't that bad at all. Although, I liked FF 9 more than 8.. and I am a fan of 7 but I don't hype it up as everyone else. I do believe it is a legend in gaming because it brought in a lot of non-RPG players into the RPG world due to a clever ad campaign by Sony and Squaresoft.
