This is the official video, as presented by MTV in 1981. Wikipedia also has recently just added that this version from "Cher...and Other Fantasies" is listed as the "Take Me Home" official video.
This *is* the "official video" - there was a longer version of this - however, this was from her special that she did WAY back in the 70's... Btw, just a bit of trivia - that "Janitor" she was dancing with towards the end? ELLIOT GOULD! (An actor most notably to have been married to Barbara Streisand!)
Thank you for posting this video. Like the other respondents, I too really cherish this song and video even though I'm a guy, I just like Cher and the lyrics and music to this song.
Greatest Cher song EVER!! Who cares if it's a disco song. I loved disco music. A lot you you do as well. You just don't want to look uncool. I don't have that hang up.
One of my most favorite's! I've never seen this before. I played this 12" to death when new, and many, many more times throughout the years! Thanks for this.
Finally... a video to go with my favorite Cher song of all time. This was really amazing. I have seen her twice in concert, and like with this video; Cher never disappoints. Thank you for adding this gem to you tube. I have already watched this about a dozen or so times. The only other comment I can make is I love almost all of her songs, but this IS my favorite.
there is not an official music video to this song...this a number she did for her cher and other fantasies show back in 1979...and it is great!thnak for sharing!
Thanx 4 the awesome and rare video....but who hired the gay goober dancers? She wouldnt dare do this with dancers like that today!!! Was there a shortage on cute guys back then? Thats just wrong...they all look like actor rejects from a bad local tv commercial!
If it hasn't been mentioned- as I didn't read all the comments- this is from Cher's 1979 NBC TV Special "Cher & Other Fantasies". It's such a good clip that it should be considered an official music video. To the person who mentioned Cher on Roller skates- that's from the special too. I wish all of Cher's Classic TV specials would get official DVD releases already!
actually sophie ellis bextor doesn't sing very well this song when she does live.. Cher always sing very well in her concerts.. I didn't know the original but I love cher since her album Believe.. I didn't know she was old .. I am young but cher was new for many young people with her song believe.. so I think cher has like three decades or 4 but she is a queen with .. also I like madonna.. madonna and cher are my favorite singers.. also I like cher song the if I could turn back time a mega hit
pt 3 and final she's done amazingly well in her acting career(the oscar shows just featured her) Cher has held an amazing arena of where she can branch out into different fields of entertainment and still thrive(An accomplishment Madonna, jennifer lopez, ms. carey Beyonce or Diana Ross has been able too) some of Beyonce's films are good. But her daddies corrupt. Whitney's also done amazing well with modeling, dancing, singing and acting but Cher has always been healthy.
pt 2 her vegas act and disco album. This wasn't one of the commonly known disco hits, but so great so sexy.(1979 really did have beautiful women and sexy men) if anything it kept her distracted so she could break free of Allman for good. The icon would not have a musical masterpiece for the next years where she went rock with a great comeback self-titled Cher(she had two different ones self-titled but on different labels) The big balk of her 80's found her trying out her acting chops.
the late half of the 70's had to have been a slump for Cher(75-79) way too much on her plate, where to begin: a divorce from Sonny, a failed show of her own a failed revival of her ex-husband Cher, yet Sonny remained her dearest friend and rock(he will always be credited as her menton. She and Gregg Allman had to have been Hollywood's oddest couple, the two were different as sun and moon, she would've gotten the hell away from him, but then Elijah emerged. The fast times of the 70's ended with
@cherton S.E.B took a shit song and made it excellent. Better lyrics, better video. And a better singer. I'm usually a big advocate of "the original is the best", but in this case S.E.B's version is miles better. You took offence to gay, lol. Okay well what I really ment was corny, this version is very corny, cheesy. S.E.B's is beautiful. It's that good that I can't watch the video of it or I'll fall in love with her. True story.
Does anyone know where to find the video of Take Me Home with her dressed as a valkarie/viking princess? It is quickly shown in her farewell video that she did...... during Take Me Home, you can see her in that outfit dancing in the background (more or less 'swaying' to the music I should say). It is the same outfit that she wearing on the Take Me Home album cover.
@Chrliesangelsman In YouTube, if you type in Cher "Ain't Nobody's Business" it will pull up the beginning number of her 1979 tv special called "Cher....And Other Fantasies." You'll see her go thru a slew of costume changes and the last costume change is her in the "Take Me Home" outfit. Very, very cool!
When I first heard this song I was in the 4th grade, and my class was going on a field trip. When I hear this song it bring back memories from yesterday. Thanks for uploading this song.
OMG!! (Y)
Okay...so you don't want me? then why are you still around? Quit playing with me.
