The female violin player was Lili Haydn. I have this show on a VCR tape - we were living in Columbia at the time and my daughter was babysitting for the keyboard player that evening. What a great time in our lives!
This is good shit.I would have preferred there not be the strings in the beginning but whatever. Remember when the M in MTV stood for music? Now it stands for mindless reality shows. The 90s had some great music.I was not that big of a fan of the grunge scene but I did like some of Pearl Jams songs. I liked Live, Counting Crows, Gin Blossoms,Hootie Blues Traveler Toad the Wet Sprocket. Collective Soul,Better Than Ezra. I don't really have a band that I like playing current music.
Crikey - I remember this. I too had it on video but that's long gone. Shame cos I've got the tech to transfer it now! Lots of happy memories of this song and their first two albums. Even saw them live twice (in Leeds, UK at the old T&C). Never as good as this gig though.
@topsyturvy06 How could I get a copy of this?I loved the two songs w/ Nancy Griffith.I had this concert taped as well but it has been accidently erased .I had this show and John Mellencamps back yard pary/concert on the same tape. Lost both shows.Stupid VCR was unknowingly set w/ this tape in my VCR.Can't find these two songs anywhere. Can You Help?
@WalkTheLineJohn I don't have the VHS tape that you are talking about. But, I do have the Hootie Unplugged concert on CD. I will be more then willing to make you a copy and send it to you. All I ask is that you pay for postage. It hasn't been "cut" at all. Meaning that all of the diagalogue between the songs is there as well.
I totally agree with both dudley and flordistil. Everyone in this video are having a great time singing, playing whatever. Check out the grin on the woman playing the violin!!
i know exactly what you mean! without music, i feel we would exist without any fluid control of emotional state. music can pick us up, bring us down, and allow us to remain in the perfect state of mind. thats why we love it!!
In fact, I have a few pictures of them building the stage sets...I was in class a couple of times when they were doing sound checks, and believe me...it was kind of annoying...but my hat still goes off to them!
Do you have anymore video from this concert? I was living in Columbia, a student at USC when this was made...in fact, stage left was the psychology department...they raffled tickets to the students, so only a few could attend...some of those living in the dorms in the horseshoe were quite inconvenienced, since this was mid-term exam time...LOL!!!
Old school jams love em
