To everyone complaining about power shifting, grab some Kleenex and cry me a river. You're only going to "fuck up your transmission" if your doing it wrong. So shut it and move on.
@HamadHHAG because when you press the clutch you disconnect the gears from the drivetrain and it will just start running hard for no reason. It wears your engine quicker and wastes a lot of gas. Powershifting is dumb
@HamadHHAG Any manual transmission, when you press the clutch it disconnects the motor and transmission. Otherwise its not a manual. Not one professional or sponsored driver I've heard of power shifts, Because it will fuck up your engine.
You're doing it wrong. Also - you don't have to break your fucking shift knob every time you switch gears. Take it easy, fast but easy. Don't abuse the car.
@XenomorphLV426 I already talked about that point earlier, but again it seems like I'll have to repeat myself. These techniques come in handy when racing IN A STRAIGHT LINE, because you will reduce shifting time (or time spent not accelerating). The Stig is faster than everyone because he knows exactly how to take each corner at the right speed, right angle, etc. Drag racing and circuit racing are two totally different things.
@plefrancois i am impressed by your lightning shifting ability. do you have any tips for me? its helpful in my discipline of motorsports, drift. thank you
I powershifted for the first time yesterday!! In my friend's VW Polo 1.6 2003. The car was very fast out of the gear changes even spinned if I change gears. I've done quick shifting + powershiting with his car and for me powershift is cooler :) and also there to drive faster! If you start doing it do from 1st to 2nd then 3rd to 4th gear. I was lucky do get it right from 2nd to 3rd. Just try it but if your're new don't shift at the first time at just the redline maybe 1000RPM before. enjoy!
@djay102687 at the same time quick shift I would do alot more to keep my shit from fucking up, powershifting I would only use at for "Special" occasions.
Geez guys, shut up about my post already. I get it. You're whiny bitches who think you're Vin Diesel by having a poor hand position on the wheel. You've also got some filthy mouths and can't spell either. Makes you look damned stupid along with your idiot 12 o'clock hand position.
sorry I dont get it.. every manual shifting should perform the "lift right foot between shifting" right? But the difference I saw is that the sound of the shifting is faster..
@aulvalenzuela21 All 4 valves open up weather vtec is engaged or not. vtec is a lobe on the camshaft that allows the valves to be open longer. This lets in more air and lets out more exhaust which is what you need for more power.
Hmmm is there a point to power shifting? Like, if you are about to race a car that is faster than yours... you think power shifting is going to make you win? lol. You know you can still win a race shifting normally?
last shift in the dc5 wasn't very fast sir...OH what you refer to power shifting I know as flat foot shifts. and when I flat foot it's much faster than just shiftn fast. somethin one tenth a sec or so. still they count
I have a brand new audi A3 and I fried the clutch doing shit like this within the first 8000 miles, after a very hefty bill I decided to just drive a bit more normal
if i were passenger and saw the driver to shift by this way, i swear i would kick out his head from the window:-D such a destroying of transmission...impossible really
@yungburrgariansmker According to some people I know, powershifting gives a better acceleration, but on my experience,if both are done equally fast, there isn't any noticeable difference. And powershifting might put more stress on the transmission, even though I haven't got any problem with both techniques.
@plefrancois Well, it depends. On high HP cars, the torque (power) will be transmitted all through the shift. On a normal quick shift, there is no power going to the wheels during the shift.
Example, on my brothers C6, if you quickshift all it does is chirp (3rd) or wheel hop (2nd), but if you powershift it, it'll put power through, and by the time the shift is actually done, you're sitting 1,000 rpms higher than a normal shift.
Mine wont do it. Selling it to buy a GT500 Muahaha
@plefrancois You speed shift as fast as i do and i notice the same thing there is no difference if done correctly the speed shift will save your clutch too
@yungburrgariansmker I agree, I think Powershifting and quick shifting are about the same on Quickness. BUT only on a naturally aspirated car. On a Turbocharged car, It would be better to power shift, This is due to the Throttle body Butterfly staying open and allowing maximum air into the manifold and into your motor! Great video!
I rarely drive two hands, stick or not. It not about driving one handed. it's about placing your hand at the top of the wheel (12 o' clock) that's the problem. You have very little control and force behind any movement from that position. No where near as much as 10.
And fair enough about the tranny. Just keep in mind you're showing a bunch of kids how to grind those teeth down. Maybe you know better, but your 'students' don't.
@Sarstan stop whining like a fucking bitch, just because you dont have your own car doesnt meant you gotta go bitch to other people about how they want to drive
@Sarstan Absolutely not true. In fact, as long as your transmission is capable of handling the power your car has, you can powershift it all day.
There's no difference in the amount of power going through it when you powershift. It's not like the engine magically outputs more power because you PS.
Sure, it's a sudden surge of power, BUT LIKE I SAID as long as your transmission's torque rating is at, or above the amount of torque your engine puts out, you are totally safe.
@shukiikuhs yes it's capable of handling it, it won't blow up from all the torque or anything, however it causes increased wear on the transmission and eventually may cause the transmission to fail
@SparxI0 Not true. A powershift puts the exact amount of strain on the transmission as letting off the throttle near red-line, then flooring it quickly while the rpms are still up. If you have a half-decent transmission, doing that wont hurt it.
A syncros still have to do the exact same amount of work in a PS. powershift =/= clutchless shift. All the syncro's work is done when the clutch disengaged, and no power going through the transmission.
@Sarstan y are u so butt hurt? it isnt drivers training, people find there own ways of comofrtably driving, i never drive 2 handed, its uncomfortable for me, and ive never wrecked or lost control. chill out grandpa and let people drive u pussy bitch prick

despite the rice, this is actually a good video. Not that many people know what power shifting really is, and the guy here can actually shift really well
@PsykoWaffle Keep crying, VTEC is genius. If you were aware how VTEC actually works, then you would have the common sense not to post such an idiotic comment. Oh wait, they don't have education over there where fords and chevy's are popular. You're excused.
@ohiAbyss LOL get butt hurt much? Vtec is a pile of shit and is for people that cant afford to put real power into their cars. And as far as chevy and fords being popular, thats a world wide thing so yeah, it is safe to say they are popular here. I myself drive a nissan 240 with an sr20det in it but you know, im all about american muscle. Name one reason that vtec is worth even having in a car unless there is a turbo, i have the same opinion of the mitsubishi mivec systems
@Catchaontheflipsyde I agree, but learning how to take corners faster, and learning how to brake will shave off more time than quick shifting. quick shifting is only really critical in drags, but even then if you have shitty tires it hurts your time, because you lose traction through the first couple of gears.
Yeah, You're Synchros are probably fucked. unless you have dog teeth in the acura.

@FIRE96CROTCH he even mentions what power shifting is in the video...it's when you don't take your foot off the gas between shifts

@dets7 what does that mean
marklaisa 4 months ago
@dets7 Ahh yes Vtec, all the lag of a turbo with non of the top end gains

Name one reason that vtec is worth even having in a car unless there is a turbo, i have the same opinion of the mitsubishi mivec systems

cant wait till you blow your shit up...your not cutting any time down powershifting just the life of your car.

Shifting fast has ZERO to do with performance driving-it's just a great way to ruin your tranny.
averagejoeusername 4 months ago
@averagejoeusername Dude wth are you talking about? Quick shifting is essential in all motorsports
Catchaontheflipsyde 4 months ago
@Catchaontheflipsyde I agree, but learning how to take corners faster, and learning how to brake will shave off more time than quick shifting. quick shifting is only really critical in drags, but even then if you have shitty tires it hurts your time, because you lose traction through the first couple of gears.
JAMinguitardude1 4 months ago
@Catchaontheflipsyde haha... i dont know a motorsport that uses normal shifting anymore care to do an example?
