Is this the same cable company you were with when they got the 4000 in 1994? If it is, it's interesting that they didn't get the 4000 until more than 4 years after it came out, but they got the XL just a few months after it came out.
@epzik8 Well, it was the same cable system, but not the same cable company. When I had the 3000, we were a very small cable company. Then Meredith (owner of Better Homes and Gardens) experimented with cable operations and bought our small cable company. We got the 4000 shortly after that. Then Meredith sold the cable company to Media One, which sold to AT&T. I believe it was during AT&T that we got this star. AT&T sold out to Comcast... and that's what we have today.
The weather channel is just god awful this day in age, They really started going downhill ever since the intellistar came out, Trying to be overtechnical with everything now, There stupid shows. This was much simpler and better, I like the xl v1 way better.
LOL, if you pause the video during the 4000 shot at the very end of the video, you can see the title reads "Mniapolis-St. Paul Extended Forecast," rather than "Minneapolis." Just an observation I made.
Actually it's "Mn'apolis-St. Paul," you forgot to include the 'a', just pause this video at the Star 4000's Extended Forecast screen, to see what I mean.
I do remember this tume from 1999! A very relaxing and enjoyable tune to listen to. Can any please identify this tune? This is one of my favorites from the 1990s.
I know. I heard that Chazz's cable company left their 4000 hooked up when they first got their XL. They left it running until four months after when they first got their XL. At least they had it hooked up with the right audio/video inputs so the XL would dominate the screen. I even made my own Emulated video that shows a 4000, Jr., and a 3000 all running at once.
sometime in the early afternoon. Left the house with the 4000 and came home to this. It was a neat surprise. Although, like gvk9r said, the 4000 stayed hooked up on our headend, upstream from the XL for months after we received it. As much as I loved the 4000, I was relieved to finally tune in to see a national segment without both the XL and the 4000's displays running on the bottom of the screen.
The extended forecast is exactly the same on the Weatherstar XL and Weatherstar4000.

This is the most soothing and relaxing tune I have heard played on The Weather Channel. I listen to this clip if I am having a rough day.

It actually read "Mn'polis-St.Paul" which I always thought was weird... Minneapolis is always abbreviated as Mpls

I saw a video like this once on TWC Classics, instead of showing the ext. forecast (4000) at the end they show the radar.
gsn93 3 years ago 2
Yes - that was one of my recordings... If there was no Local Update on the 4000, the last screen would be the radar.
theweatherchazz 3 years ago
I remember hearing that, too and I was 9 back then.

I see the 4000 for a split second at the end
